I've held off on this post waiting to see if there would be some comment from the front office, but
doesn't look like one is coming. Saturday against Seattle, something was up with the Wizards front
office staff in response to the Cauldron.
As had become a regular occurrence, the team brought down streamers to be thrown during allowed
times during games.

Think the above retro Wiz shirt is off the hook? Click here to find out how to send this shirt to
your friend (or yourself) in advance of the Cauldron's Retro Night on October 24. The shirt is
great, and the Retro Night will be just as fun. The shirt can be picked up in the Wizards offices
or at the merchandise stand on October 24.

Guest post time! In keeping with AMSL's series on MLS, Elliot Tucker, author of the fantastic
futfanatico.com, tells the story of how the fan culture irrevocably changed after the Wizards moved
from MO to KS. Enjoy!
When you hear the word cauldron, a host of cool words come to mind.

That's right everyone, the team formerly known as the Wiz is having retro night. The folks of
Hillcrest Syndicate and the other supporters' section that make up the Cauldron are putting on an
official retro/throw-back night on Saturday, October 24 as D.C. United comes to town. Wear your
old-school Wiz/Wizards gear for the match if you will sit in the section or if you just want to
support the old rainbow logos.

With the Wizards having this coming weekend off, there isn't a whole lot of Wizards news. There is,
though, news coming from the Wizards supporter's group, the Hillcrest Syndicate. The Syndicate has
news about the upcoming "Beckham game" as well as plans for a road trip down to Dallas to watch the
Wizards play.

That's right folks, as you already saw, his "Be Champions" sign got some major props at the
beginning of the latest Special1TV episode. Now Jack Bell of the New York Times is giving him
shoutouts. We'll make sure to post some pictures of the t-shirt once Mike dons it for an upcoming
match. I have no doubt it will look great in the Cauldron.

Now this is excellent. Whichever Cauldron member held up the "Be Champions" sign at our last match
needs to get ahold of the people at Special1TV. Jose has a present for you. Take a look at this
clip, 22 seconds in. Email Mr. Mourinho at jose@special1tv.me.

Bring in your new or gently used soccer gear for this drive sponsored by the Wizards, the Cauldron,
US Soccer Foundation and All-American Indoor Sports. Once again, here are the details from

I haven't talked much about the Kansas City Kings this season, but they've had a successful
sophomore season, again winning the regular season Midwest division title. Saturday at the KC
Soccer Dome, the Kings will play the Springfield Demize in the Midwest division playoffs for a shot
at the national championships in Las Vegas in early March.

Some of you who subscribe to the Wizards YouTube page might have already come across this, but
we've put together a little video about The Cauldron, our screamin', yellin', fightin' supporters
group. If you're not a member and are somewhat interested in becoming one, take a look and see if
you'd like to join the group.

Our owners passed along today a photo taken at Saturday's match in Columbus. Four of our owners'
wives posed for a picture with some Cauldronites. Have a look:
The wives are in the middle behind the starred flag. Clockwise from top left: Amber Heineman, Bonne
Illig, Liz Maday, Jeanne Patterson

So it was the Cauldron doing the crashing tonight. Check out the pics below of the Cauldron
entering Columbus Crew Stadium this evening. First, they meet up with some Columbus supporters
(would you ever see European fans hug each other before a big match) and then are greeted by owners
Robb Heineman and Cliff Illig atop the stairs as they climb toward their seats.

Ok, well we still have 15 minutes, but the decisive Game 2 is almost here. The boys were confident
and calm leading up to the match, so it should make for an entertaining affair. The Cauldron
announced its presence with fervor about ten minutes ago, stopping to chant at some Columbus
supporters good-naturedly.

Congratulations to Davy Arnaud who was inducted into West Texas A&M's sports Hall of Fame last
Friday. Arnaud was greeted by several former teammates, his college coach Butch Lauffer the
school's President and Athletic Director and around 500 WT alums. A story came out today in the
Amarillo Globe-News about the night with some quotes from Davy.

The coming weeks are going to be very active for the Wizards and their supporters, the Cauldron, in
regards to their work in the community. The first event will take place this coming Saturday, as
the Cauldron will be participating in the Alzheimer's Memory Walk, in Corporate Woods in Overland
Park.

To everyone that came out yesterday, a huge THANK YOU. Though we didn't get a victory, the
atmosphere was outstanding. Chicago supporters forced The Cauldron to be as loud and boisterous as
ever. I sat outside the press box for most of the match and enjoyed the sights and sounds,
including this view currently up at kcwizards.

Just got back in the box after a brief visit with Mike Kuhn, author of www.downthebyline.com. Kuhn
and about 15 other Cauldron members made the trip down to Dallas for the game. They're looking for
a win, so let's hope the boys send them home happy.
He reminded me that I was remiss by not mentioning after the RSL match the marriage of two of our
Cauldron members prior the match.

Thanks to your generosity, we collected over 500 pieces of soccer equipment at the June 14 game to
donate to Don Bosco Center! The wonderful people of St. Pius X High School also chipped in over
$1000 that will help Bosco Center get its soccer program off the ground. Great job Wizards fans!

The Cauldron has done some work this season to start a reaching out to the community. One of the things the section is doing, is collecting new and gently used soccer equipment for the Don Bosco Center in Kansas City. This will help to promote youth soccer in the area. The big date to get all of this in, is this coming Saturday, June 14th.

Greetings ladies and gents. For those of you who haven't seen it, we did some filming yesterday for some upcoming videos of our guys re-enacting your favorites 1980's movie scenes. The Offside Rules had a spy at the event, and posted this. Check it out. Great stuff SF. Jimmy had your same Freddy Mercury comment during the shoot.

No real big news today, but there were some small bits of info that I'm going to touch on
today.
First is that we know what cities will be hosting the first group round of World Cup Qualifiers
after the first round against Barbados. Chicago, DC, and Denver are the 3 lucky cities. Chicago and
Toyota Park will have the US vs either Trinidad or Bermuda Wednesday September 10th.

Alright guys, you were at the stadium. You saw the goals. You saw the leap--or the jump--or
whatever it was. Now we want your help naming it. When Jimmy Conrad and later Scott Sealy removed
themselves from the playing field and nearly entered fandom in the Cauldron, what were they doing?
If it were after a Green Bay Packers touchdown, it would be called Lambeau Leap.

It's hard to tell from this video but rest assured, that is Jackie Jewsbury getting his second
straight game-winning assist. The video does a much better job of showing the celebration in The
Cauldron. This one came in the 87th minute while the first one came in the 47th minute of the 2-0
win over DC United.

In the immortal words spoken by Jimmy Conrad to his napkin, it is most certainly game day. My
preview of the match is already up, but for those of you that don't know, you can come over to the
Cauldron tailgate before the game. I'll be there wearing my new Wizards jersey, so come say hi.
Should be a good one if not a bit chilly.

The Cauldron announced today on their website that they will have a new addition to the section

Supporters of the Wizards that stand in the Cauldron will be back in action in a few weeks cheering

Cauldron, Robert Houghton. I got the chance to ask him a few questions about the section and what
is planned for the section.
