A lot of critics blamed Ron Washington for the Texas Rangers not winning the 2011 World Series.
If you ask me, that's totally unfair. Washington has guided the Rangers to two recent World Series
and has done so by allowing his teams to peak at the right time.
The Rangers seem to agree that Washington is not the problem and have decided to give him a
two-year extension.
The last time we saw Darren Oliver, he was blowing a save in the World Series for the Texas
Rangers. The old wily veteran won't be returning to Texas. Instead, he has signed a one-year
contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. The contract also includes a team option for a second
season.
The 41-year-old is still a very effective pitcher.
Yu Darvish is the most sought after pitcher on the free agent market this offseason. The native
of Japan hasn't pitched in the MLB but he already has front offices drooling. After posting a $51.7
million bid, the Texas Rangers now have a chance to sign him.
If Yu Darvish signs, his team in Japan the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters will get $51.
In one of the most amazing comebacks of all-time, the St. Louis Cardinals have won the 2011
World Series. Once 10.5 games back in the NL Wild Card race, and down to their final strike in two
different innings of the World Series, the Cardinals are now champions.
Game 7 actually didn't start out very well for the Cardinals.
Matt Holliday can't be happy right now. The superstar for the St. Louis Cardinals will miss Game
7 of the World Series due to a wrist injury. Instead of Holliday, the Cardinals will turn to Allen
Craig in left field.
Usually being without Holliday would be a huge loss but he's been struggling with injuries
throughout the playoffs and has struggled recently.
Bad news for the Texas Rangers. Not only do they have to recover from choking in Game 6, they
have to bounce back against Chris Carpenter. The St. Louis Cardinals ace has been in a ton of big
games and has a proven track record of stepping up big.
For proof, you just have to look back to the Cardinals series against the Philadelphia
Phillies.
Twice the Texas Rangers were within one strike of winning their franchise's first World Series
championship. Both times the St. Louis Cardinals weren't ready to die. After coming back from two
runs in both the ninth and tenth innings, the Cardinals won Game 6 on a David Freese walkoff homer
in the 11th.
The weather might be the MVP of the 2011 baseball playoffs. It seems like every series has been
affected by rain and the World Series is no different. Baseball was forced to postpone Game 6 and
play it on Thursday night.
If the Texas Rangers win on Thursday, they will be the World Series champions.
The Texas Rangers are one win away from making history. After winning Game 5 of the 2011 World
Series by a final count of 4-2 over the St. Louis Cardinals, the Rangers need one more victory to
claim the franchise's first championship.
However, the news isn't all bad for the Cardinals. Game 6 and Game 7 are both going to be played
in St.
Excitement for sports fans ran deep Thursday night as two thrilling events were unfolding at the
same time.
The St. Louis Cardinals and LA Galaxy both took a 1-0 lead in their respective contests. But, the
teams went separate ways soon after their scores. The Cardinals lost their slim lead and the game,
2-1 in the ninth, and now have their series even at one game a piece.
The St. Louis Cardinals appeared ready to take a big 2-0 lead in the 2011 World Series. Leading
1-0 in the ninth inning, the Cardinals turned to Jason Motte to close out the Texas Rangers. But
after two hits, great baserunning and a pair of sacrifice flies, the Rangers were able to escape
with a 2-1 victory and tied the World Series at 1-1.
About a month ago, it looked like the St. Louis Cardinals were dead in the water. But now, not
only did they find a way to make it to the 2011 baseball playoffs, the Cardinals are headed to the
World Series!
In Game 6 against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cardinals got up early and then pounded their way
to a 12-6 victory.
After a 7-3 victory in Game 4 of the 2011 ALCS, the Texas Rangers are one win away from reaching
the World Series for the second year in a row. The Detroit Tigers, on the other had, face the
daunting task of winning three straight games to avoid elimination.
In Game 4, the Tigers got on the board first when Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run double in the
bottom of the third inning.
I admit it. We were dead wrong. After questioning the wisdom of the Tampa Bay Rays for starting
Matt Moore in Game 1 against the Texas Rangers, Moore went out there and dominated. And really,
"dominated" doesn't give the kid enough credit.
In seven innings of work, Moore gave up two hits and two walks.
The Tampa Bay Rays are fearless. That fearlessness extends to their coaching staff, who has
decided to go with Matt Moore in Game 1 of the ALDS against the Texas Rangers. In the 162-game
regular season, the 22-year-old Moore started a grand total of one game.
Why is Matt Moore starting? First of all, he's a major talent.
The 2011 baseball playoffs begin tomorrow. Yesterday was one of the most exciting days in
baseball history. Can the 2011 baseball playoffs match that level of excitement? Probably not ...
but you never know.
Here are our 2011 baseball postseason predictions:
American League
Texas Rangers Defeat Tampa Bay Rays (3-2)

Texas Rangers Defeat New York Yankees (4-2)

The Los Angeles Angels were desperate for a win on Sunday night against the Texas Rangers. How
desperate? They sent out their $85 million man Jered Weaver on three days of rest. The gamble ended
up being a bad decision as the Rangers blasted the Angels by a final score of 9-5.
Weaver came into the game with the lowest ERA in the American League but couldn't do much of
anything right on short rest.

TFC's ankles - Lest We Forget
IN THE TUNNEL:With Real Esteli nabbing that crucial away goal at BMO Field, "The Train of The North" have
everything to play for tonight in rural Nicaragua. A reportedly horrendous pitch, a zoo-like
atmosphere in the stands and ziplock bags full of humanity's worst await our boys in red as they
aim for the CONCACAF Champions League Group Stage.
The Texas Rangers weren't happy with their bullpen a few days ago. You can go ahead and scratch
that concern. Yesterday, the Rangers traded for Koji Uehara. Today, the Rangers traded for Mike
Adams of the San Diego Padres.
Koji Uehara and Mike Adams are two of the best relief pitchers in the game of baseball.
What's with athletes killing themselves? First it was Jeret Peterson killing himself, now it's
Hideki Irabu. The former Major League Baseball pitcher committed suicide yesterday. According to
reports, Hideki Irabu committed suicide by hanging himself in a home he owns in California.
A native of Japan, Hideki Irabu came to the big leagues with huge expectations.
Adrian Beltre of the Texas Rangers is proving to be one of the best free agent acquisitions in
all of baseball. The Rangers are playing great, Beltre is smashing and his defense has been
amazing. Unfortunately, we have to give you an Adrian Beltre injury update due to a pulled
hamstring.
Beltre pulled his hamstring on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays during the fifth inning.
George W. Bush has kept a low profile since leaving office. Recently, Mr. President attended a
baseball game between the Texas Rangers and the Chicago White Sox. During the game, a foul ball
almost hit George W. Bush you can see video of the incident below. Thankfully, the foul ball
avoided hitting anyone.
Another game. Another Nelson Cruz home run. The Texas Rangers have won their first four
ballgames of the season and Cruz has a homer in each of the contests. His first three homers came
against the Boston Red Sox. His fourth was on Monday night versus the Seattle Mariners.
On the season, Cruz is hitting .
Thursday is Opening Day for the 2011 Major League Baseball season. The long wait since last
year's World Series, which saw the San Francisco Giants defeat the Texas Rangers, is finally over!
On Opening Day, there are three baseball games that you definitely should watch. Luckily, all three
games can be watched on ESPN.
Spring Training is here. That means baseball is around the corner. It also means we need to post
our MLB Power Rankings of the best teams in baseball. Yeah, it's early. That said, chances are good
that the 2011 World Series champion will be in the group below. Without further ado, here are our
MLB Power Rankings of the best ten teams in baseball:
1.
The Texas Rangers enter the 2010 MLB season as the reigning champions of the American League.
However, don't think that will start their rivals from talking trash. Last year, the Rangers got
help from the league while their ownership issues were ironed out. That league aid miffed a number
of ballclubs, most notably the New York Yankees.
The Baltimore Orioles are close to signing Vladimir Guerrero according to a numerous online
reports. The DH played with the Texas Rangers last season and helped the team reach the 2010 World
Series. The contract Guerrero is being offered is unknown at this point, however it's rumored to be
for one season and around $5 million.
Once bitten twice shy.
When Tom Hicks and George Gillett bought Liverpool FC back in 2007 there were many who looked at
their track record, didn't like what came up and promptly dismissed it.
It is easy to blame David Moores for not looking enough at how they carried out their business –
and, indeed, he had the responsibility to do that part of his job better – but the truth is that
most of us had heard about how Gillett had gone into bankruptcy because he had over extended
himself with loans or of the mismanagement at the Texas Rangers but no one was willing to put the
pressure on.
