Today US Soccer announced this year's inductees to the US Soccer Hall of Fame. Sporting KC coach, technical director, and former player, Peter Vermes was one of two people inducted in the class of 2013, along with Joe-Max Moore (who coincidentally was once potentially coming to Kansas City).
Vermes started his career as a forward and played in Hungary, Holland, and Saping before moving to back to the US to join Major League Soccer in 1996.

Tuesday the Colorado Rapids announced the signing of midfielder Hendry Thomas, who will occupy
an international player slot on their roster.
The Honduran international spent his last three seasons with Wigan Athletic of the English
Premier League. Thomas appeared in 55 matches for the Latics during the three-year stint with the
English side.
The Portland Timbers added a familiar name to USL Timbers fans to their coaching ranks on July 16
when the team announced the hiring of former defender Sean McAuley. McAuley joins current
assistants Amos Magee, Mike Toshack and Cameron Knowles on intermin coach/technical director Gavin
Wilkinson's staff once his international paperwork has been approved.

The Montreal Impact dealt defender Tyson Wahl to the Colorado Rapids Friday, acquiring an
international roster spot for the 2014 season. The Impact originally acquired Wahl from the
Seattle Sounders for allocation money on the day of the expansion draft.
The Portland Timbers relieved John Spencer of his coaching duties effective immediately, as
announced on July 8 by Timbers owner Merritt Paulson. Technical Director Gavin Wilkinson will
assume the coach role on an interim basis with another assistant being brought on to aid in
scouting and help Wilkinson and the three current assistant.
The exodus from the Philadelphia Union's front office and technical staff has continued, despite
former head coach Peter Nowak leaving almost two weeks ago.
Diego Gutierrez, a former teammate of Nowak's with the Chicago Fire, and Alecko Eskandarian, a
former player under Nowak during the early 2000s at D.
Former Revolution assistant coach Paul Mariner was appointed head coach of Toronto FC after the
team relieved Aron Winter of his duties on Thursday.
Mariner spent six seasons (2004-2009)Â in New England as an assistant to longtime head coach
Steve Nicol and heled guide the team to three straight MLS Cup finals.
Michael Emenalo is someone who had unheard of before his appointment as Chief Scout under Avram Grant at Chelsea. When Ray Wilkins left the club, he was promoted to Assistant First Team coach in November 2010 working with Carlo Ancelotti. In July 2011, Emenalo was appointed Chelsea's Technical Director.

Over the last few years, we have come to worry more than a little about the well-being of the FA

Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Inter Milan
starlet Luc Castaignos after the forward's former club Feyenoord pulled out of the race to sign
him.
The 19-year-old joined Inter last summer after scoring 15 goals in his first two seasons at
Feyenoord, but the forward was sparsely used last term, making just one Serie A start, and
Liverpool and Everton are reported to be monitoring his availability.

West Bromwich Albion hope to conclude their search for Roy Hodgson's replacement on Friday by

Once Sunday's game with Chivas USA is in the books, the first year of Fernando Clavijo, at least the on-field aspect, FC Dallas' technical director will conclude. Clavijo is himself a former MLS coach, having guided the Rapids not all that long ago and as a former player in MLS, he has seen a bit of everything when it comes to the beautiful game.
Rumors were abound this weekend about the possibility of the Philadelphia Union swapping Freddy
Adu for FC Dallas' Brek Shea, but nothing came of it. However, it was another possible Union
related player move that was discussed over the weekend that will more likely happen.
According to multiple sources, the Union's Chief Executive Officer and President flew out to
California to talk to a former member of the team for a future role on it.
As a native of Uruguay, South America is a place that FC Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo
knows quite well. In fact, the ex-Rapids head coach recently returned from there on a trip to scout
possible future acquisitions for FCD. He had plenty to say about his trip back to his home

QPR have written a formal complaint to Leeds United demanding an apology after 'keeper Paddy
Kenny allegedly sent 'abusive' text messages to QPR technical director Mike Rigg and chairman Tony
Fernandes or 'doing a Kevin Pietersen' as it's known in the trade.
Former QPR goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has been accused of drunken late night communication with his
ex-employers to gloat at their 5-0 opening day hammering against Swansea. QPR have made a formal
complaint to Kenny's new club Leeds after technical director Mike Rigg and chairman Tony Fernandes
reportedly received abusive text messages from Kenny.
Earlier this week, we saw John Spencer's reign come to an end. It was a little sad, despite the
recent performances of the team. When he first came on last year I thought that this could be a man
who is with the team for years, makes his mark and leaves on his own terms. But alas, it was not to
be.

official: the Portland Timbers have fired John Spencer, the team's first coach of the MLS era.

and General Manager, Technical Director and Interim Head Coach Gavin Wilkinson made the
announcement jointly at Jeld Wen Field today.
The Portland Timbers are in a bad spot. Timbers fans are rightly frustrated with their team's
recent performances, and they've been searching for the responsible party. Many have focused their
frustration at John Spencer, with a vocal minority calling for him to be sacked immediately. A few
have laid the blame solely on the players, while others blame the lack of quality on Gavin
Wilkinson's choices as General Manager.
Peter Nowak's departure from the Philadelphia Union appeared to have a limited impact beyond
whatever interim head coach John Hackworth could affect on-and-off the field, but recent events,
and internal developments, have shown that it may be a domino effect.
In addition to Nowak leaving, so have Diego Gutierrez, former the team's Sporting Director, and
Alecko Eskandarian, Youth Technical Director for a year, left the club by decision of Hackworth,
according to the team manager at his conference call today.
Liverpool U18s are preparing for their opening game on Monday in the prestigious Al Kass Cup in Qatar, in which they'll be competing against the likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan. Steve Cooper's lads face local side Aspire Qatar in their opening group clash and the tournament promises to be a fantastic experience for the Academy youngsters.
The Seattle Sounders Women announced on Tuesday that University of Washington head coach Lesle Gallimore would join the club as its new technical director.
"The Sounders organization provides and has provided a lot of positive influence in the Seattle soccer community, and I’m honored to be even a small part of that positive influence and growth," Gallimore said in a club press release.
Rumours are surfacing in Italy that Inter Milan's Dutch star Wesley Sneijder could be joining Inter's city rivals in January.
Sneijder is Inter's highest paid player and Inter have told him to take a pay cut or sit in the stands.

Jack Reyna, the son of former U.S. national team great and current U.S. Soccer youth technical
director Claudio Reyna, passed away Thursday after a battle with cancer. He was 13.
Reyna, his wife Danielle and their family issued a statement through U.S. Soccer on Friday:
"It is with a heavy heart that we confirm that Jack Reyna lost his battle with cancer
(Thursday).
Famed for missing that crucial spot-kick against Germany back in 1996, Gareth Southgate has quit
his post as The FA's Head of Elite Development, thus ruling himself out of the running for the
organisation's Technical Director job.
The former Aston Villa defender released a statement on The FA's website which said:
The FA can today confirm that Gareth Southgate will not be continuing in his role as Head of
Elite Development and no longer wishes to be considered for the role of FA Technical Director.
The ex-England star Gareth Southgate, who is now heavily involved with the FA and is tipped to be
their next technical director is a bit worried about the future of the senior England side, and
doesn't think there enough home-grown stars being brought through in the Premiership compared to
the other big European teams.
The Ajax Technical Director has today said that their full back/midfielder Vernon Anita will not
be joining Newcastle United, unless the Tyneside club make an improved offer. Vernun Anita 23
