Peter Vermes has played a major role in Sporting Kansas City's turnaround from bottom-half club to Eastern Conference power in recent years, and he has been rewarded with a lengthy contract extension.

Sporting Kansas City is set to announce a contract extension for Vermes that will lock the 46-year old down as the club's head coach and technical director through 2017.

Today US Soccer announced this year's inductees to the US Soccer Hall of Fame. Sporting KC coach, technical director, and former player, Peter Vermes was one of two people inducted in the class of 2013, along with Joe-Max Moore (who coincidentally was once potentially coming to Kansas City).

Vermes started his career as a forward and played in Hungary, Holland, and Saping before moving to back to the US to join Major League Soccer in 1996.
