On Saturday FC Barcelona travel to Madrid to take on Getafe, who had a convincing 1-4 victory over Racing Santander in first week action. Getafe, under new manager Michel, look to improve on a dismal 2008/2009 season which saw them barely escape relegation. For FC Barcelona they cannot take Michel's team lightly.

FC Barcelona vs Shaktar Donetsk UEFA Super Cup Preview

FC Barcelona will travel to Monaco today in preparation for their match against Ukranian side Shaktar Donetsk on Friday in the UEFA Super Cup.

For those not familiar with the Super Cup, it is a yearly match that takes place at the beginning of the European domestic season between the winner of the UEFA Champions League and the winner of the UEFA Europa League (formerly know as UEFA Cup).

Barcelona may be done in transfer market according to Begiristain

FC Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain admitted that the team may be done making moves in the transfer market, even though manager Pep Guardiola feels the squad is "too small."

Begiristain addressed the media on the heels of wild speculation from every news outlet that the team was trying to sign Barcelona youth phenom and current Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas.

FC Barcelona roster for US Tour announced

Head coach Pep Guardiola announced the 26 players that will be making the trip to the United States for the US Tour. Two names missing from the list are Alexander Hleb and Martín Cáceres both who are rumored to be going out on loan for next season.

The 26 players are:
Valdés, Jorquera, Jorquera, Puyol, Alves, Sánchez, Piqué, Márquez, Henrique, Abidal, Maxwell, Xavi, Touré, Keita, Busquets, Gudjohnsen, Iniesta, Henry, Pedro, Messi, Bojan, Ibrahimovic, Muniesa, Font s, Jonathan dos Santos and Jeffren.

FC Barcelona US Tour schedule and training information

FC Barcelona will be leaving for their US tour on Wednesday and arriving in Los Angeles to prepare for their first match of the tour on Saturday. While in the US the team will be taking part in social activities along with their playing schedule.

Barcelona announced today that their opponent for the 44th Joan Gamper Trophy will be Manchester City. The match will take place in Manchester at Eastlands. Unlike previous years the Gamper will take place after the La Liga season has started with Barcelona having played Athletic Club Bilbao the previous weekend.

FC Barcelona arrive in London ahead of Wimbley Cup

Head coach Pep Guardiola and his team arrived in London today in preparation for their match Friday against Tottenham in the first of two matches at Wembley. 17 players from the first squad and 11 from the youth academy and reserve team made the trip. The biggest surprise for fans coming out to see Barcelona play in London will be Lionel Messi.

FC Barcelona this evening completed a blockbuster move bringing Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the Nou Camp in exchange for Samuel Eto'o plus 40 million euros and Alexander Hleb who will be with Inter on a one year loan.

The team will be arriving at the Camp Nou on July 20 for medical exams before heading off to London on the 21st. Scherrer Cabelino Maxwell Andrade, aka "Maxwell" signed a contract to become the replacement for recently departed Sylvinho at the Camp Nou. Maxwell has been at Inter Milan for three years, last year appearing in a total of 33 matches. The soon to be 28 year old Brazilian has played many other position other than left back in his career, making him a great pickup who can step up when needed.

FC Barcelona 2009/2010 Schedule Released

This morning the 2009/2010 La Liga schedule was released. The schedule revealed that FC Barcelona will begin their season at home on August 31 against Sporting. The teams late start is due to their participation in the Supercup in Monaco on August 28. The first matchup between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will take place on November 29 at the Camp Nou, the second round at the Santiago Bernabéu will be played on April 11.

Laporta confirms over €40million bid for Villa and interest in Ribery

Lionel Messi spoke with El Mundo Deportivo in an article that was published on Wednesday, giving full support to FC Barcelona signing the Argentinian midfielder Javier Mascherano.

Messi spoke to the Spanish newspaper amid reports that Barcelona is very interested in bringing the 25 year old Liverpool player to the Camp Nou this summer.

Chivas Guadalajara will be FC Barcelona’s third opponent on 2009 US Tour

It's official the third opponent for FC Barcelona on their 2009 US Tour will be Chivas Guadalajara on August 8 at San Francisco Stadium. The stadium is just outside the city where the San Francisco 49ers play their home games. Following the match Barcelona will head back to Europe for their first leg in the Spanish Super Cup on August 16.

This morning news broke from Sport.es that the third and final stop for FC Barcelona in their US summer tour will take place in Oakland, California. The team to face FC Barcelona and the date of the match has yet to be announced but the rumor being tossed around is MLS team Chivas.
