George Burley was finally removed from his post as manager of the Scotland national side this
evening, bringing to an end the managerial run of a man who in the end "managed" to make even Berti

George Burley's future as Scotland manager may be hanging in the balance but Ally McCoist
believes the national team's problems date back much further than the current regime.
The former Scotland striker always had faith in his nation's ability to compete against the best
in the world and that belief was reinforced when he took his seat alongside the Tartan Army at
Hampden and watched Burley's men match the might of Holland.

After Saturday's borefest against Slovenia, I left Wembley straight for the West End for some
top quality Saturday night footy chat, mid quality shape-making and bottom quality pulling in
O'neills. Desperately trying to get the results of the dozens of make or break games, I was made up
by the end of the night with the outcome of pretty much everything apart from a non-result with
Kathleen from County Kerry (or should that be a clean sheet!

World wide world cup match days are the next best thing to the actual world cup, particularly when
we are in the last throes of the schedule. It's like a 1st round March madness day, but twice as
long. A few more tickets were punched, and a few other have the porter in the next cabin. Others
are starting to feel a little too uncomfortable.

.Scotland managed to keep their slim world cup dream alive as they overcame a stubborn and
technical Macedonian side. The boo's and jeers rang out around a wet Hampden Park at half-time as
the performance from the Tartan Army was less than convincing. Macedonia dominated much of the
first period and found hole after hole in [.

If you're Scottish, you are watching your football nation die. Once, a thriving field of
imaginative players lived in this football worshiping country; now a dead zone, populated by
footballing zombies. Scotland's 4-0 defeat against Norway in the World Cup qualifier ranks as the
worst effort by a Scottish team, probably, ever.

Scotland.I'll watch the game on Wednesday night. And I'll be keen for us to do well. But I'll be

result. The thought of taking a trip to Hampden, far less trekking to Oslo, fills me with absolutely

It was less than a year ago when James McFadden sent the Tartan Army delirious, after his

All top three teams in the group are involved in must-win matches if they want to keep their
positions on the table. The most intriguing of the three matches is without a doubt the Ukraine at
Scotland. The Zhovto-Blakytni must win to have any chance of advancing though it looks mission
impossible anyhow, and the Tartan Army need the three points just to keep ahead of their nemeses,
Italy and France.
