With the transfer window about to open plenty of gossip will be doing the rounds. As ever I will
only post news that appears in other media.
The biggest news is of course Noh Alam Shah becoming a free agent after leaving Arema IPL. Tampines
Rovers have said they will take him back in the blink of an eye; it's no secret NAS and the
chairman of the Stags are very close.

- S.League - Gombak Utd 0-3 Etoile FC (5/11/11)
The last match before another adjournment saw Etoile FC beat Gombak Utd 3-0 at the JBS.
The year's award night was held on the following evening after the last three games were completed
on the previous night at Grand Copthorne with the usual gala setting for this annual get-together
for the local football fraternity.
The night kicked off with the awarding of the "Young Player of the Year" to Albirex Niigata (S)'s
Tatsuro Inui beating the likes of Lions stars Hariss Harun and Safuwan Baharudin.
Let's be totally Frank about this. Given a choice of watching Balestier Khalsa playing Woodlands
Wellington or watching the latest reality TV hit from the US what would you rather do? For me, a
trip to Toa Payoh would win hands down.
Woodlands, among other things, had only managed 17 goals going into their 31st game of the season
and were in 12th position two points behind Tanjong Pagar.
I'm not going to write a complete piece about Duric, life is too short, and anyway you can find all
that on his Wiki page. Instead I'll just throw some numbers out there about this phenomenal
professional footballer.
It looks like he started his career late, when he was in his early 20s, and despite only staying in
Australia less than seven he managed to squeeze in nine clubs!
In the sanitized atmosphere of Singapore football not many of the teams there 'feel' like a
football club in the sense of a team identifiable with their local community. You don't walk round
Woodlands or Tampines and see people wearing club colours unless it's a Liverpool or Manchester
United shirt.
The only times I've seen people wearing club colours in Singapore, I mean local club, it has been
the green of Geylang United.
Coincidently, my fellow blogger Andy Brouwer blogged on the dismay pitch surface that staged a
Cambodian league clash featuring Phnom Penh Crown, one of the guest teams invited for the Singapore
Cup.
To expect professional players to play on this surface and to
perform at a sufficiently high level is simply not on.

A mixed night for teams from the region.
Reports coming out of Singapore suggest national team coach Raddy Avramovic has sensationally
dropped several big names ahead of World Cup Qualifiers in July.
Out go Noh Alam Shah, Baihakki Khaizan, M Ridhuan, Agu Casmir and Precious. The only overseas based
in the squad of 30 are Mustafic Fahruddin, reportedly returning to Singapore next month, Shahril
Ishak, from the previously rebel Liga Primer Indonesia, and Khairul Amri.

With the ongoing campaigning to the running up to the General Elections, it's inevitable to see
various S.League stadiums being selected as venues for the contesting parties to hold their mass
rallies.
According to sleague.com, the selected stadiums are Bedok, Bishan, Choa Chu Kang, Clementi, Jurong
East (pictured below, courtesy of Albirex Niigata[S]), Jurong West, Tampines, Toa Payoh and
Woodlands Stadiums, while two stadiums (Hougang and Queenstown) were also named as the "reserve"
venues by the police.
