Last weekend and midweek action involved another round of international games. Some matches were
important like the playoffs for the right to feature in the 2010 South Africa World Cup Finals but
all too many were unimportant games that counted for absolutely nothing. The question that pops to
mind was should the top players be excluded from playing in them to avoid injury?

Garber gave an earlier and less formal state of the league address than he has in years past in
a teleconference with reporters today.
Garber announced the MLS Best XI during the call, which includes one player apiece from the
Galaxy and Chivas USA:
goalkeeper - Zach Thornton
defenders - Chad Marshall, William Conde, Geoff Cameron
midfielders - Dwayne DeRosario, Landon Donovan, Stuart Holden, Shalrie Joseph,
Freddie Ljungberg
forwards - Conor Casey, Jeff Cunningham
Other major talking points included:
*A reiteration MLS is looking to become a 20-team league.

The clubs at the top of the table keep crawling along. The clubs at the bottom keep sinking.
Referees had a forgettable weekend and in between a player and a coach dropped bombshells.
Philipp Lahm. Bayern's disappointing draw at home against Schalke. Robben's
moment of madness for which he should have seen a red card.

One of the big talking points with Fabriocio Coloccini is his hair. Coloccini with that hair get
the comb! We noticed it when he was playing for Argentina in Germany in the World Cup in 2006, and
that made him stand out, along with some steady play at the back for his country. That's when we [.

Down the years, in whatever league you care to mention, top flight referees have always been the
stuff of thousands of column inches and hours of Andy Gray type post match analysis, giving rise to
all kinds of misguided conspiracy theories. In recent weeks, the huge talking points have both
directly and indirectly involved dear old [.

This was clearly a match between two teams going in different directions. Chivas was starting guys
like Maicon Santos, Jesus Padilla, and Yamith Cuesta - all who joined the team in August and have
already claimed starting jobs. They haven't been afraid to bench their veterans like Razov,
Galindo, and Marsch and have instead sought out better players.

The lack of form by midfielder Sacha Kljestan has been one of the talking points of the season
for Chivas USA. I took a look at the issue in today's column.
I had a few quotes left over that didn't get in the column for space reasons.
Here's Preki on what the club is doing to support him:
"We're doing as a staff and the guys in the locker room whatever it takes to get him
where he needs to be.

There were a few talking points this weekend like Chelsea's shock loss to Wigan and Keane's 4 goal
hall... but none was more ridiculous than Carlos Tevez's retarded header past West Ham keeper
Robert Green! It looked so uncoordinated I didn't know if I should run for the toilet paper ...

So we're a month or so in to 2009/10, and it's been pretty hectic, to say the least. Lots of
flashpoints, talking points and most importantly, lots of football. So what have been the
characteristics of this opening month that have captured the imagination?
1.   There has been an awful lot of football played.

Gunners Today 18 September @ 01:43 PM EST
This post is a bit late (understatement of the year) but as the saying goes, better late than
never. This DVD focuses on the season just gone. Like the season it puts us the viewer on a
rollercoaster ride all the way through.
The review made by Gooners for Gooners, is presented by the comedian Paul Kaye who happens to be
just one of the Gooners who are utterly frank in their assessment of the 2008-2009 season.

Afternoon.
Ive just about calmed down now. The performance from us was poor, be it a post interlull
hangover I don't know, but the urgency, pressure high up the field and overall hard work was just
not there and a scintillating start to the season has been turned on its head. Played 4, won 2 lost
2.

1.
4-2 flattered Manchester City. Statistics showed we had nearly twice as many attempts
on goal. We had 12 corners to City's 3. And we shaded possession as well.
2. However, City were clinical at a time when Arsenal were at their creative best, but
defensively most fragile.
