How Brazilians have fared since leaving Arsenal - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Arsenal defender Andre Santos has joined Brasileirao outfit Grêmio on loan until the end of the season after failing to cement his first team place this season.
Santos has joined Gremio on a season long loan
The 29-year-old joined the London club from Fenerbahce for £6.

career at Figueirense was as a left winger. After loan spells at Flamengo and Athletico Mineiro, he

The left back position of Arsene Wenger's era has been a rather stable position, Sylvinho to Ashley
Cole to Clichy. Ever since Gael Clichy's departure to Manchester City, the left back issue is
becoming a very pressing one. Though Clichy was not the best option, he was still a pretty decent
player. It is also [.
Just a quick one to say that Manchester City have confirmed, via their offical website, that
Martin Petrov, Benjani Mwaruwari and Sylvinho
will all be allowed to leave the club over the coming summer.
Looks like everyone is at full strength.1950: Manchester City v Manchester United line-ups:Man

Landon Donovan can continue his successful spell in England on Saturday evening when Everton
hosts Manchester City at Goodison Park. Donovan will find the Manchester City backline to his
liking, and for the second consecutive week he will face a third string left back. This provides
the American superstar with a unique opportunity to make his impact felt in the Premier League.
A few things pop out at me, looking at the lineups for today's FA Cup games.Man City: Given,
Richards, Garrido, Sylvinho, Kompany, Zabaleta, Petrov, Weiss, De Jong, Mwaruwari, Boyata.Subs:
Taylor, Barry, Tevez, Vidal, Bellamy, Trippier, Tutte.Mancini looks to have named six defenders in
his side. Garrido starts after his free kick goal in midweek.
Sylvinho reminds us of our best friend's namorado who is also the
World's Biggest Douche and perhaps that is why we can't stand this photo. Nevertheless, in an
amusing interview with the club's official TV station, Robinho told the defender
how much he appreciated him!
Mini match report: Unexpectedly terrific performance by Spurs, with Aaron
Lennon and especially Niko Kranjcar who scored twice, either side of a Jermain Defoe strike in
devastating form on the flanks.
City never turned up (Robinho, take a bow), but then Tottenham didn't allow them to.
Robinho drives me cowshit crazy. There's no 'I' in team, but appropriately,
there is an 'I' right in the middle of Robinho. All that skill and yet he wastes it like confetti
it's an insult to his Man City team-mates and the club's fans.
The Brazilian must be one of the most selfish players I've ever seen in the Premier League.
Much better. Never underestimate Tottenham's ability to raise your spirits on a gloomy winters
night. And raise spirits they certainly did as a 3-0 win silenced the critics and scribes who were
preparing their 'not-good-enough' themed copy, expecting another Spurs defeat. Instead, the big
spenders from Manchester came out second best as they were outplayed by the big spenders from North
London.
After the highs of last week a potential trap game awaits.
With the concensus being that we are back on track (amazing what a victory can do) there is the
potential to look past the trip to The Reebok to potentially tougher tests at Tottenham on
Wednesday and Sunderland next weekend.
Hopefully that will not be the case though as players and management alike should be only too aware
that this is the type of fixture that was prevalent in our recent run of draws.
CITY have been hit by an injury blow after a scan revealed Wayne Bridge could be out of action for
up to six weeks - ruling him out of the two-legged Carling Cup semi-final against United next

which could keep him out for four to six weeks.

This weekend, a completely random selection of footballers headed over to the public opening of
Rio Ferdinand's new restaurant, Rosso.
Strangely, we've seen no pics of Rio. Perhaps he was busy in the back making sure the spag bol
was seasoned to perfection.
We do, however, have some photos of United's Edwin Van der Sar looking very dapper, Louis Saha
(Everton) doing the casual look right, and Man City's Sylvinho and Pablo Zabaleta enjoying
knitwear.

City release big name trioManchester City trio Martin Petrov, Benjani Mwaruwari and Sylvinho will
all leave Eastlands this summer after the club opted not to offer them new contracts. All three were
used only sparingly by boss Roberto Mancini last season and their departures were expected, with
the Italian set to bring in a number of players during the close season.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Martin Petrov, Sylvinho and Benjani are senior
players who will leave City this summer. All three are out of contract and free to negotiate deals
at new clubs.
Doing this every time he scored obviously wasn't enough...
The clock is ticking and soon we will see if the Eastlands masses come away with bragging rights
of whether the Old Trafford boys can give their title chase a big boost.

Manchester City left-back Wayne Bridge is expected to make his comeback on Saturday
after a five-match absence following a hernia operation.
So says the NOTW this morning, who suggest it will be him, and not Ivan Cordoba, that will be
Mancini's first signing:
The Eastlands boss has quickly identified the full-back positions as problem areas for
a side that has conceded more goals than any other of the teams battling for a place in
Europe.
Whilst there are plenty of candidates to replace the injured Wayne Bridge, it doesn't appear Javier
Garrido will be on of them judging by these comments from Mark Hughes:
"I've got a number of options but I would have no qualms whatsoever about putting
Sylvinho in there, but Gareth has knowledge of that position as well.
CITY will be without left-back Wayne Bridge at least until the New Year.
But the Blues have survived a second defensive injury scare with Micah Richards set to be fit to
face Bolton on Saturday.
Bridge is believed to have tweaked medial knee ligaments during the 2-1 weekend win over Chelsea
and at first it was feared he may be a long-term casualty.
He may not be getting the starts he hoped, but our new(ish) Brazilian appears to be impressed with
what he has seen so far:
"I would definitely like to remain longer, the project to make this club one of the best in
Europe and the world cannot be completed in six months or a year and I would like to be part of it
for as long as possible.
Solid and unspectacular it may have been, but given some of the shambolic cup exits witnessed in
recent years a routine FA Cup 3rd round win (against a bogey side) was very welcome.
It wasn't a performance that will live long in the memory, but it was a game that we controlled
with the instruction to retain possession again very evident.
One thing that we have been able to rely upon in recent games - when we have not been playing well
- has been the ability to get back into games when required, something that has preserved our
unbeaten run.
Not tonight though. Through a combination of our own lacklustre play (comfortably our most poor of
the season) plus an impressive Tottenham performance, our unbeaten run came to a shuddering halt
tonight at White Hart Lane as Tottenham laid their claim to be a far more likely candidate for a
potential Champions League spot.
