Arsenal have two visits to Sunderland on consecutive Saturdays in different competitions and
both have the potential to improve the season but could also make it far worse. The focus for now,
obviously, has to be on the more immediate fixture that is the upcoming League meeting.
It would be an understatement to suggest that Martin O'Neill has turned the fortunes of the
Black Cats around.

English Premier League Match Predictions 11 February 2012 - The 90th Minute Soccer Blog
Have you been wondering what it takes to make it to the top-flight? Here's your answer: beat
yourself with a book several times a day. Chelsea players opt for books from the Horrible Histories
series, but a Harry Potter could work just as well for you. Spotted on Dirty Tackle
Manchester City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to a convincing
3-0 win at home over Fulham.
Heading into the Fulham match a lot of questions were being asked about a City side that had
lost four of their eight matches in 2012, exiting the FA and League Cups and seeing Manchester
United draw level with them on points at the top of the Premier League.
A ruthless ten minute bombardment saw this determined group of United youngsters stun their
opponents into submission just before the break at The Liberty Stadium in Swansea on Thursday
night. With this tricky looking fixture away from home and key players missing from the squad, the
game was far from a foregone conclusion, but an [.
I 7-1 to be a Blackburn fan? No, it doesn't quite work, does it. One day we'll get to the promised
land of an 8 goal victory, and all the wonderful pun-based jokes this allows. For today, I think 7
will do. My thoughts as follows:
* We started brightly, and scored after only 2 minutes.
Manchester United are through to the Youth Cup quarter-final following a 5-1 victory over
Swansea. Gyliano van Velzen scored twice and the other goals came from Jack Barmby, Sam Byrne and
Tyler Blackett. Barmby and Blackett particularly shone.
United will now play against the winners of the Charlton and Tottenham tie on a fortnight.
Now that the January transfer window is closed, clubs are gearing up to be ready for the rest of
the season. For promoted clubs in particular, the Premiership adventure has entered the second -
and possibly last - half of the season. Whether they will be able to continue their adventure is
anyone's guess, but judging from the league table, Norwich and Swansea look to be in a good
position to stay up.

I know for many people the word they might use to sum up this Arsenal season would be stronger,
much stronger, than 'frustrating', but that's what seems to fit for me this morning.
On Tuesday night Chelsea, our main rivals for 4th spot, dropped two points against Swansea.

Curt it out Swansea City captured former Manchester City youngster Curtis Obeng from non-league
Wrexham yesterday. Brendan Rodgers' first task is to put all the local branches of McDonalds on red
alert to make sure his new signing doesn't ruin his nutritional programme with a two-at-a-time
burger fix.
Still warm and cuddly after Sunday but a midweek trip to a freezing Lancashire is not what was
wanted, particularly to a Lancashire team who are in the process of turning their season
around.
The recent beatings of both Liverpool teams is evidence of Bolton's turnaround.
Add in the Cup win over Swansea and we can see tonight's game will be a challenge.

Andy Carroll who has come under intense fire from the Liverpool faithful the past few weeks for
his inconsistent performances, responded to his critics by scoring in Liverpool's 3-0 win over
Wolves yesterday.
The £35 million signing from Newcastle opened the scoring for the Reds, to take his tally for
the club to 7.
Liverpool have hit some sort of form since Gerard has returned from injury. Chelsea stole a
point late in the game at Swansea and are now six points ahead of Arsenal. This season has always
been about a battle for fourth an it's time for the Gunners to buckle up and pick up the points in
games like the next one at the Reebok, many much tougher games will anyway see Arsenal dropping
points in the coming weeks.

Chelsea drew with Swansea tonight 1-1 with a late late Jose Bosingwa goal. Ashley Cole was also
sent off for two bookable offences!. Not the result we were looking for!.

Bolton - Arsenal 3pm - Fox Soccer Bolton's fortunes have been trending upwards of late. They beat
Liverpool in their last Premier League game and advanced in the FA Cup at the expense of Swansea.
There's also Tim Ream, adding another US National Team player to the club's roster. Ream isn't
expected to play.
It was a quiet deadline day for Liverpool in the transfer market with no major first team
comings or goings. But they have played well to record a 3-0 win against Wolves at the
Molineux.
All three goals came in the second half. Carroll opened the scoring with a prod at the far post
in the 52nd minute.
As Chelsea fans and especially in recent seasons, we are always interested in seeing some of our
promising youngsters come through into the first team squad. The likes of Betrand, McEachran, Van
Aanholt and Bruma have featured last season but we haven't really seen much of the youngsters this
term.
Three goals in seven second half minutes that's all it took for Arsenal to win a game in which
they were otherwise unimpressive. While the comeback was miraculous and the result crucial, many
problems still remain.
As has been the case for the last month or so, Arsenal started at a pedestrian pace.
The 2011-12 season ended last night. Okay, there's still sixteen or so games left and a lot can
happen.
But as a sporting competition, as a object of interest and fascination, last night's impotent
display and crashing out of our 3rd cup competition in as many months has us begging for this
once-promising season to just end.
This lunchtime, Chelsea travel to Loftus Road to take on QPR in the next round of the FA Cup but
somehow I don't think much of the focus leading up to this one won't be on the football!.
I could sit here all day talking about what happened and what is going to happen in a couple of
days time but there is a football match to be won so I would rather concentrate on that!
No one can doubt that Swansea have attacked the Premier League with a refreshing desire to play

For the first time in five years we have now lost three Premiership matches in a
row.
I am starting this story now Tuesday evening the 17th where the thoughts of last nights radio

mind.

On the back of two games where Arsenal have lost after taking the lead, and with hardly any
positive news on the injury front, a game against Manchester United is the last thing many would
want. But that's the game on the fixture list and the Gunners will just have to do as best as they
can with diminished resources and wavering confidence.

Arsene Wenger in his press conference asked about his somnolent transfer activity in the January
window:
" You cannot buy a player every time you have an injury: where do you finish? England is
bankrupt, the whole of Europe is bankrupt and everyone continues to spend like nothing
happened.
Newcastle's hopes of taking advantage of Chelsea's draw at Norwich were stopped by a five-goal
second-half blitz from Fulham as they lost 5-2 at Fulham.
Fulham were poor in the first-hald and it was no surprise that Newcastle scored first thanks to
a Danny Guthrie thunderbolt from outside the area.

By 1970's Gooner I call it as I see it and after Arshavin's poor performance against Swansea I
shudder to contemplate what will happen when Nani begins to terrorise young Miquel on the left hand
side of Arsenal's defence. Add
to this the likely possibility that Arsenal will be without Arteta and you then face the
possibility that we will be suffering in
United to travel to the Emirates this weekend to take on Arsenal, and they look a big price at 2.62
to beat the Wenger boys. The Gunners were thrashed 8-2 earlier in the season at Old Trafford,
and although they have improved since then I can't see why they are virtually the same price as
United in the betting to gain their revenge.
The transformation from Bruce Banner to the Incredible Hulk still isn't an easy process to

Apologies for the delay in regular programming but, fret not, The Boys From White Hart Lane is back
from it's Christmas hiatus and is ready to rock your socks off all over again in this new year.
Morning all,
let's start with early team news ahead of Sunday's game against United and there's nothing good
regarding Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard will miss the game, Arsene says he has 'no chance' of playing
and the earliest we'll be seeing him is against Aston Villa in the FA Cup.
Clearly that's a big blow.
Arsene Wenger is very clear that Arsenal must stop the defensive errors that have lost the Gunners
their last two games against Fulham and Swansea if they are to stand a chance of beating Man Utd
this weekend. Wenger explained that he believed that the defence had improved and was surprised at
the relapses.
Following consecutive league defeats (both games in which we took the lead) I think we can all
agree the need for savage and violent revolution is obvious. A blood thirsty, shrieking gallop to
the hills followed by a good fortnight of medieval combat ought to sort it. Because nothing quite
says "ambitious football club" like flapping through a wooded area wearing Arsene Wenger's skin as
a dress and Peter Hill Wood's nuts for earrings.
In this week's review of the footballing action we focus on swansea's rise, Inter Milan's
unbeaten run and a bad week for Real Madrid's pepe.
