It was a process that took around six years from top to tail in total, and it came in three very distinct phases. Already this season there have been two sackings, two resignations and two departures by mutual consent in the Football League alone, including two ex-England managers; Steve McClaren and most recently Sven Goran-Eriksson.

Following numerous reports of the costs of sacking a manager in the press recently you would have thought club owners would think twice about sending their current choice on their way.

Is Sven Serious When Suggesting Wenger To Be Next England Manager?

In the wake of Sven Goran Eriksson's opinion that Arsene Wenger would be the ideal next England manager, bookmakers have installed the Frenchman at odds of 25/1 to take over from Fabio Capello when the Italian's contract is up next year.

Needless to say, few people will be in agreement with Eriksson's opinion and anyone with a brain cell will not really believe this will actually happen, moreover there is no way that the Arsenal boss would even consider taking the post (fortunately for England fans).

On behalf of Yahoo and the League Manager's Association, a 20-strong phalanx of managers have been quizzed over their ideal dinner dates.

All the usual suspects were present, with Elvis, De Niro, Pacino et al all rearing their ugly heads though it was floaty/stingy boxer Muhammad Ali who picked up the most nods, with five managers (Redknapp, Allardyce, McLeish, Pardew and Hughton) plumping for the pugilist.
