Just days after talks with us had broken down, defender Chris Pozniak signed with cross-country
rivals Vancouver Whitecaps.
After Kevin Harmse was traded to Chivas, Pozniak was spotted training with us and many, myself
included, hoped he would be set for a return to TFC. It wasn't to be however, as apparently we were
having "salary cap" issues.

El Salvador scored the biggest upset of the Gold Cup so far as they beat Costa Rica through
Osael Romero's brace, 2-1. Costa Rica had previously won 6 of their last seven encounters with the
one draw.
La Selecta have been on a winning streak in their last five matches with just one loss against

Canada started off the Concacaf Gold cup this Evening in Los Angelas on the strong foot by downing
Caribbean Giant Jamaica 1-0. Not an easy feat for Canada who just a year ago in world cup
qualifying failed to get by Jamaica. But that was under much maligned Manager Dale Mitchell. In his
stead Steven Hart has returned to take the reigns of Canada.

Here is some audio from Stephen Hart from the post Jamaica press conference. Some of the key
points Hart makes:
- He chose to start Sutton over Wagenaar in goal because he felt Sutton could handle the Jamiaca
crosses and set pieces better. But he stressed both keepers were excellent in training.

In what I hope will become a regular occurrence for us, Ali Gerba scored a wonderful half-volley
last night to give us Canucks a 1-0 win over the Reggae Boys of Jamaica. Former Toronto goalkeeper
Greg Sutton played well in goal for Canada, making several key saves to keep us in it. To be fair
to Jamaica, they deserved something from the match.

Here's a trade that went rather unmentioned yesterday. Toronto FC traded defender Kevin Harmse
to Chivas USA in exchange for allocation money.
Toronto continues their summer clear out of their roster, making this the third forth player to
be released or traded away. Harmse has a MLS home still unlike Johann Smith, Rohan Ricketts and
Gregg Sutton who were released from their contracts earlier this month.

Toronto FC have announced that they have acquired defender Nick Garcia from the San Jose
Earthquakes, along with the discovery rights to Canadian forward Ali Gerba. In exchange, San Jose
receives Toronto's 3rd round selection in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. As per team policy, financial
terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The San Jose Earthquakes continued their roster reconstruction by sending veteran defender Nick
Garcia and the discovery rights to Canadian national team striker Ali Gerba to Toronto FC for a
third-round pick in the 2010 MLS Draft.
Why did the Earthquakes just trade the veteran leader of their defense?

Toronto FC's first ever goalkeeper and the main keeper for their first two seasons. Greg Sutton was
released today. I will save the analysis for another post. I just wanted to wish Sutton well. Who
knows? At age 32 he has prime years of keeping ahead of him and may one day play for Toronto again.

Toronto FC has parted ways with goalkeeper Greg Sutton to make room for San Jose Earthquakes
defender Nick Garcia. Toronto also picks up the discovery rights to Ali Gerba. "First and foremost
we want to thank Greg for everything he has done for this club," Toronto manager Mo Johnston said.
"Greg has always been the consummate professional, he was the first goalkeeper signed by this club,
and this was a difficult decision to make.

As we hit the quarter pole of the MLS season, it is time to take a first look at some of the
races for MLS awards. While there is still plenty of soccer to be played, and candidates can still
rise and fall, eight games is enough of a sample size to start getting an early idea about serious
contenders and the strength of a field.

After last week's loss to Seattle, TFC did little to reassure their fans with another
disappointing home game against FC Dallas. While I was incredibly excited about this team a mere
eight days ago, they have given up too many chances in their past two outings to be able to compete
with the best in MLS.

I believe I have come up with the perfect headline to match the picture at the top of this blog
(which I stole from Krazy Kanadian over at torfc.com). 10 points to me. In case you don't recognize
the three players, they are TFC's Marco Velez, along with FC Dallas' Jeff Cunningham (unfortunately
he used to play for TFC), and Adrian Serioux, who in this picture did not know that he would be
anchoring Toronto's defense in the teams' next meeting.
