[T]he furore surrounding Lyon's astounding 7-1 win in Zagreb last week puts one in mind of the
perhaps the most anomalous sequence of results in this season's Football League. In September,
warmly tipped Crawley Town followed up a 6-0 hiding at Morecambe with a 3-0 home battering by
Swindon. Having begun existence in the League well, these results were far from expectedand
everything that has happened since makes them seem still more unusual.

Wigan away tomorrow and a 7am start from Sussex. The full horror of the 3-2 defeat a couple of
seasons back still haunts me but we must travel with confidence although they did win last week so
will be about as buoyant aas they could be when the face us. Great.
We managed a 2-2 draw last term and AW has had his say ahead of the Premier League encounter at
the DW/JJB/ASBO Stadium and he has reflected on recent results going ginto tomorrow's game.

I'm starting to think I'm missing out on something. Is there a big party that everyone goes to?
Something exciting on the telly? Or perhaps it's a free goodie bag for the first 10,000 on to the
tube?
It's an age old moan but I am going to go on about it again. Just what is people's (I'm refusing
to call them fans) excuse for leaving Arsenal games at the Emirates early?
Young Arsenal striker Rhys Murphy, who has recently declared for Ireland, is attracting strong
interest from Glasgow Rangers.
Murphy, 20, has already been training with the Ibrox club and recently played in a trial game
against Hamilton.
West Sussex-born Murphy, whose grandfather hails from Dublin has declared for Ireland, with sources
saying the processing of his application by the FAI is well advanced.
Today, whilst at the Arboretum in Stafford, a fellow soldier asked me why I was a Forest fan. A
fair question, given that my father is from Sussex and supports Chelsea and my mother is from
Ashington, the birth place of the Charlton brothers and staunch ‘Toon' territory [...]

Henry Cecil trained Frankel destroyed Canford Cliffs in todays Sussex Stakes at
Goodwood in what was seen as the battle of the Champions, however it wasn't much of a battle as
Frankel destroyed the field in impressive manner taking up the running from start to finish.

If history is a reliable guide to the mindset of Sir Alex Ferguson, do not be surprised if the
abject performances of Manchester United's fringe players against non-league Crawley Town leads to
a swift and ruthless purge at Old Trafford.
The likes of Gabriel Obertan, Bebe and Darron Gibson probably woke this morning with the
temptation to pull themselves back under the duvet in a desperate attempt to banish the memory of
Saturday's embarrassingly narrow 1-0 FA Cup fifth round victory against the Sussex minnows.
