Bath City defeated Weston-super-Mare 1-0 last night. It was an important victory. City are now in
eighth place, but only four points behind second place Woking. A victory over Dover Athletic this
coming Saturday will almost certainly launch City for the first time this season into a playoff
spot. Holy change-of-fortune, Batman!

One deal that was expected to be a 'sure thing' today ended in frustrastion as McDonald Mariga
slipped through our grasp and ended up signing for Inter in a co-ownership agreement with his
current club Parma.
It appears as though a deal was agreed in principle, but as I anticipated a couple of days ago we
ran into problems attaining a work permit for the Kenyan:
Mariga, who has 24 caps, met part of the UK criteria after playing in 75% of Kenya's games in
the last two years.

FIFA held the World Cup draw today for South Africa 2010. Everyone gave a gasp when the US first
drew England who were the #1 seed in group C, because it was believed that with a European team
there was a better chance of having another decent European team drawn. But as it ends up, the US
looks a sure thing to advance into the round of 16 with a good performance.

With Liverpool's fate in Europe sealed by the results of yesterday, there's nothing left to do
but look forward. In doing so, it seems that there isn't a whole lot of agreement about Liverpool's
priorities...
First there was Jamie Carragher, before yesterday's fixture, stating that there's no shame in
ending up in the Europa League, and that Liverpool would be happy with the opportunity.

Now that we have officially qualified for the World Cup, it is time for the first installment of
Bradley's Babes: 23 for 2010 our attempt to answer the question, "Who should we take along?"Â Â But
instead of taking the standard approach doing our best to guess who Bob will take to South

Last week it was rumored that there would be an announcement as to where Miami FC and the rest of
the TOA would play. If it would be in the USL, MLS-2 or their own league. Today it seems the last
two options seem more probable.
TSN reports that both the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Montreal Impact will be out of USL.

The 2009 version of this award could be contended between just players from Seattle. The
league's newest club also boasts some (if not all) of the best newcomers MLS has seen this season.
From Fredy Montero, Freddie Ljungberg, Kasey Keller, to Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, there's plenty to
choose from when selecting the award.

To paraphrase somebody or other, sports rivalries are born, not made. Or at least the good
ones.
Which is why I have ahard time getting in line with the "MLS Needs Montreal NOW!.. (because of
course all serious ideas from truly sincere BigSoccer posters who, you know, [i[really mean it[/i]
are punctuated with lots of exclamation points and the word "NOW") ".

Bojan scored the final goal in Barcelona's 3-0 dismantling of Athletic Bilbao in the second leg
of the Spanish Supercup to polish off a 5-1 aggregate win and horde yet another trophy.
Unlike most goals you see featured on blogs, this was not from an amazing distance or sniped
with superhuman accuracy in fact, it was exactly the opposite.
