Two years ago it was Cristiano Ronaldo gazing into a hand mirror, Last year it was Jose Mourinho
kicking Pep Guardiola in the junk, but at midnight this March 19 Valencia's Las Fallas festival
will stay with that Jose-on-Barca violence by burning a giant paper mache version of Mourinho
poking Tito Vilanova in the eyeball.
This must be the millionth time I've said this, but I can't say it enough, because this team keeps
on giving me reason to. I am so fucking proud of them. I love them so fucking much. This team is
just something else. Such pride, such heart, it's unmatchable. After the last Clasico, where we
beat them 3-1, I was talking to a fellow Culita about how Barca play these games and win them with
their hearts.

Bitter rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to write the next chapter in their storied
Clasico history as they meet in the opening leg of the Copa del Rey quarterfinals at Estadio
Santiago Bernabeu (4 p.m., GOLTV/ESPN3.com).
While Barcelona is looking for revenge in this tournament after being beaten by Madrid in last
year's final, it is Madrid that is looking to try to even the overall score.
Here we go again.
The world's top rivalry takes center stage when Real Madrid hosts Barcelona in the first leg of
the Copa del Rey quarterfinals (4 p.m., GOLTV/ESPN3.com), the first of two meetings in a week's
time that will determine which club advances to the semifinals.

Granada vs FC Barcelona
Today's away match at the Los Carmenes stadium is a perfect opportunity for Lionel Messi to get
his first away goal in La Liga since the start of the season. The Argentinean scored in away games
in the Champions League and the Spanish Supercopa, so a goal versus newly promoted Granada would do
him justice in La Liga.
Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas admits that he still has feelings for former club Arsenal but
believes that Arsene Wenger's side face an uphill battle returning to winning ways.
A superb Gunners squad dominated the Premier League to claim the domestic title with an unbeaten
run in the 2003-04 season and although they did not repeat the following year, young Fabregas was
able to come into the team to lift the FA Cup in 2005.
Manchester City chief executive officer Garry Cook has paid the ultimate price for an
ill-mannered email mishap.
Cook resigned on Friday after being found culpable of sending an offensive email to defender
Nedum Onuoha's mother that mocked her battle with cancer. Cook reportedly meant to send the
response to City's director of football, Brian Marwood, but instead mistakenly sent it Dr.
Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola took time away from a highly successful period for his club to
defend under-pressure Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, insisting that the Frenchman has helped the club
make significant progress during his tenure.
The Catalan giants opened their title defense with an emphatic 5-0 win over Villarreal, which
featured goals from recently crowned European Player of the Year Lionel Messi as well as massive
summer signings Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas, the former Gunners skipper.
After already capturing the Spanish SuperCopa, defending UEFA Champions League winner FC Barcelona
goes after its second piece of silverware on the young season when it takes on defending UEFA
Europa League winner FC Porto in the UEFA SuperCup in Monaco (2:45 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel).
The mass exodus from Arsenal continues.
Samir Nasri is the latest to bolt London after Arsenal and Manchester City agreed to terms for
the transfer of the French midfielder.
Nasri, 24, enjoyed a breakout season during the 2010-11 campaign and reportedly cost Manchester
City £24 million to secure the transfer.
It's still too early in the season for the rankings to be but so meaningful. Hell, they haven't
even started playing in Spain, Greece or Italy and I don't know if they'll ever start playing in
Turkey. Still, if we don't rank everybody, there's no reason to come back so we continue to do so.
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has accused Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho of
"destroying Spanish football" following an ill-tempered Supercopa at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona and Real Madrid put on a show during the Spanish SuperCopa, but those hoping to see
the two powerhouses in action again sometime soon will have to wait a little while longer than
expected.
Players in Spain's first and second division will be on strike for at least the first two
scheduled weekends of the season, starting with what was supposed to be Saturday's opening day of
the season.
The ancient Greeks were a wonderful people, whose reliance on slaves and women to do all the
actual work meant they could devote themselves to increasing the size of their brains, and then
devote those gigantic brains to the asking of brilliantly pointless questions, many of which still
entertain and irritate philosophy students today.
Why Jose doesn't deserve the United job
MirrorFootball Podcast Robbie Savage, Chris Kamara, Mick Rathbone Jose Mourinho lost the
Supercopa to Barcelona, lost his head with a Barca coach and now he deserves to lose out on the
biggest job of all. I think Mourinho believes he will replace Sir Alex Ferguson when the great man
finally retires at Manchester United and until recently I supported him.
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is already in midseason from and has he picked up where he left
off last season by calling Barcelona "a small team" after losing in last night's Supercopa second
leg at the Nou Camp.
For 88 minutes last night's match was a fantastic footballing spectacle between arguably the
best two sides in Europe.

ESCANDALOSO!! It's interesting to consider how the media has analysed
the aftermath of last night's Supercopa Extravaganza between Madrid and
Barca. Fractions of the British press believe that the attention heaped onto the Portuguese coach
this morning is a much welcomed one while the Madrid-based media chose to laud Barca's performance
over the bust-up.
If early returns are any indication, the already-must-see Barcelona-Real Madrid rivalry might be
reaching a new peak in 2011-2012.
Barcelona captured the SuperCopa after a 3-2 victory in Wednesday's second leg (5-4 on
aggregate), with Lionel Messi scoring two goals, including a late match-winner, in a thrilling

Right, people. A little cautionary note. We know you're all foaming at the mouth and twitchy of
the fingers after last night's er... match, which we are thrilled about.

Despite having only played for Barcelona for somewhere around 8 minutes, Cesc Fabregas already
has a trophy to his name after the Catalans beat Real Madrid 3-2 in the second-leg (the first leg
finished 2-2) of the Spanish Supercopa final at the Camp Nou last night.
Trophy number one: tick Cesc Fabregas made his Barcelona bow last night and has already won nearly
as many trophies as he picked up during eight years at Arsenal. The midfielder made an eight-minute
cameo appearance at the end of the match as Barca secured a Supercopa de España victory over Real
Madrid.

Everything was going so well. Sure, a few harsh and untimely challenges from both clubs, but it
will always be an element of this bitter rivalry. For ninety minutes (plus the ninety from the
first leg on Sunday), Real Madrid and Barcelona wowed the masses with a display of football that
puts both clubs light years ahead of the rest of the competition.

After a 2-2 on Sunday, we will have another El Clasico on Wednesday, at Nou Camp. The season has
barely started and we are offered a double portion of the most expected game in the world. Some
might say that the SuperCopa is not a really sought after trophy, and I agree with that, but the
rivalry will surely make it another disputed match.

Sunday kicks off the first leg of the 2011 Spanish Super Cup featuring two of the greatest teams
in the world, Real Madrid against Barcelona. Remarkably, this is the first time that Real Madrid
and Barcelona have faced each other in the Spanish Super Cup since 1997 when Los Blancos won both
La Liga and the Supercopa Espana.

Despite the news that La Liga will delay the start of the 2011-12 season due to a strike by the
Spanish players' union, soccer fans can still look forward to the 2011 Supercopa Espana which kicks
off Sunday, August 14 between La Liga winner Barcelona and Copa del Rey champion Real Madrid.
David Villa scored on a header midway through the first half as Barcelona beat Mexico's Club
America 2-0 in Dallas.
Villa scored a nice goal in the 24th minute. Adriano sped past America defender Oscar Rojas and
his cross found Villa unmarked just outside the 6-yard box for an easy header.
