Another former SKC Wizards Update, plenty of player movement this week. Jonathan Leathers, Rauwshan
McKenzie, and Ryan Pore are now without clubs after not being selected in the second stage of the
re-entry draft. They're joined by Shavar Thomas who also wasn't selected. Also looking for a new
club, is Stephane Auvray whose was let go by the Red Bulls.
The South Asian Football Championship has been taking place in India since the beginning of
December. The biannual event retained its recent trend of seeing the Indian national team win the
championship this time defeating Afghanistan in yesterday's final by four goals to nil.
In the early stages of the tournament Afghanistan had the early advantage over India with both
teams meeting each other in Group A, along with Sri Lanka and Bhutan, and the Afghans finishing top
of the group on goal difference.

Chhetri is apparently getting ready to go on trial with Scottish club Rangers. Chhetri's had trials
in England previously, but had been unable to earn a work permit. Not sure how that will change
this time.

A day late as I got distracted watching the RSL-Monterrey game last night. So here is this week's
update a day late. Akeem Priestley is back on the map as he's now playing with the Los Angeles
Blues in the USL-Pro division. Also, Eddie Johnson looks like he could be on his way back to MLS.
His contract with Fulham expires this summer so Johnson could find himself coming back to MLS via
the allocation order.
The American game is in full swing now for all but the PDL here in the US, so plenty more former
Wizards are playing now. Here's the rest of this week's former Wizards update.

Back for another week of former Wizards updates this week. A week of international games for many
former Wizards, including Khari Stephenson, Sunil Chhetri, and Yura Movsisyan. In other former
Wizards news, former Wizards midfielder, Amir Lowery has signed with the Montreal Impact to play in
for the NASL side next season.
Another week of former SKC Wizards update here. First of all some news on two of the newest former
SKC Wizards. Second round draft pick, JT Murray was waived shortly after the team's first preseason
game. He's landed on his feet as he's been picked up by the Rapids for their preseason. The other
former player is Sunil Chhetri who has signed with Chirag United in India.
So a few days ago K.C. cut Sunil Chhetri. Now there are reports that La Liga's Racing Santander is
after him. Really?
You're telling me that a guy that only appeared as a sub twice --once in the Open Cup and once
against Manchester United-- is being seriously looked at by a La Liga side?
Sporting KC made some mroe roster moves today, as they officially waived two more players from last
year's team, and let go of two of the team's six draft picks this year. Officially gone now are
Sunil Chhetri and Nikos Kounenakis. Both weren't expected to be back and rumors had been floating
around for a while.
Sunil Chhetri juggling the ball in practice...Chhetri (#19) heading ball against Man UThe news:
Sporting Kansas City announced four roster moves Monday. Sporting did not pick up the option for
Sunil Chhetri, Nick Kounenakis was released by "mutual consent" and pre-season cuts of draft picks
JT Murray and Sam Scales.

Beginning on Tuesday, the PSP will begin running two article series. One series will examine
possible tactical formations for the Union. The other is a series of interviews with some of the
groups that, following in the footsteps of the Sons of Ben, have formed to support the Union,
including the Tammany Saints, the IllegitimateS, the Corner Creeps and the Bridge Crew.
I think most SKC Wizards fans realize at this point that it's extremely unlikely that Sunil Chhetri
will be back in KC this season. While me may still be listed on the team's roster on their website,
and while the team hasn't "officially" released him, they've made comments that his option was not
picked up.
Late last night, Thad at The Back Post got an interview with Peter Vermes up on his blog where he
discusses a lot of things involving the preseason. So far Vermes seems to be pretty high on all of
the team's draft picks, including supplemental draft pick, Mike Jones. Vermes (and people at
training) confirmed that the Julio Cesar Santos is the same one that was guessed by people, the one
that's played in England, Mexico, Spain, and multiple other places around the world.
Another week of former SKC Wizards updates for you. Will John's time with the Missouri Comets is
over, the team had hoped to extend the deal but were unable to. Two bits of news that have come out
today on former Wizards players, first Carey Talley, who was apparently a finalist for the Real
Salt Lake assistant coach position has announced his retirement, ending his long career.
Already eliminated, India took on South Korea in their final group game of the Asian Cup. After
falling behind 2-0 inside the first ten minutes, Sunil Chhetri was able to get India back into the
game after he was fouled in the box. Chhetri stepped up and buried the penalty kick making it 2-1
and giving India a little bit of hope.
India put in a strong second half, but lost to Bahrain 5-2 and saw their AFC Asian Cup tournament
chances end as well. The loss by India and the Australia-South Korea draw means that India was
eliminated from the tournament. India fell behind in the 8th minute due to a penalty kick, but came
back a minute later to equalize.
Sunil Chhetri went the full 90 minutes for India, and had their best chances, but India fell 4-0 to
Australia in their opener of the AFC Asian Cup. The Australians, the highest ranked team in the
Asian Confederation easily outclassed the lowest ranked Indian side. Three goals in the first half
put the game well out of reach for India.
With Sunil Chhetri still technically a member of Sporting KC and India getting ready to kick off
their AFC Asian Cup campaign tomorrow against Australia, I figured it was a good time to update the
list of most capped players in a Wizards uniform. There's been no change at the top of the list, as
Josh Wolff and Jimmy Conrad are the top players on the list.
Sunil Chhetri and the Indian national team get their AFC Asian Cup campaign started this week when
they take on Australia. It appears that Chhetri will have another set of eyes looking at him in the
game. Word out of Australia is that A-League side, Perth Glory, will be watching Chhetri with an
eye towards signing the forward.
