According to Sunderland's official website, Liverpool have agreed to a fee,
rumored to be around £20 million, for Sunderland midfielder Jordan
Henderson. A club spokesperson said:
"A fee has been agreed with Liverpool for Jordan Henderson and he travels to Anfield today with
the club's blessing.
According to the London Evening Standard, Sunderland will not be signing
Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari permanently. Manager Steve
Bruce said,
"Sulley has been a great professional in his time here and naturally we'd like to thank him for
his contribution to our season and wish him all the best for the future.
According to Luke Edwards at The Journal, Sunderland boss Steve
Bruce hopes to keep 34-year-old midfielder Bolo Zenden this summer. Bruce
said,
"Bolo Zenden knows exactly what I think of him ... I would love to keep him at the football club
.
According to Damian Spellman at the PA, 20-year-old Sunderland midfielder
Jordan Henderson will not be going anywhere this summer. Henderson said,
"I do feel I have improved this season. I'm a better player than I was 12 months ago ... It has
been another great season for me.
According to James Robson at the Manchester Evening News, Sunderland are
interested in signing Manchester United youngster Danny Welbeck
on a permanent basis and are willing to offer £10million. However Bruce admitted that it will be
very difficult signing Welbeck saying,
"In terms of converting any loan player to a permanent signing, you have to accept it's a fact
of life that, in most cases, the better they do the less chance you have of getting them .
According to Luke Edwards at The Journal, Sunderland manager Steve
Bruce will be looking to sign a new striker to replace the recently departed
Darren Bent.
Sunderland looked at signing Manchester City striker Emmanuel
Adebayor on loan but were put off by his wages.
UPDATE: According to Aston Villa's official website, Aston
Villa have completed the signing of striker Darren Bent. Bent has signed
a four-and-a-half year deal with the club.
January 17th, 2011: According to Sunderland's official website,
Sunderland striker Darren Bent has handed in a written transfer
request.
According to Stuart Raynor at The Journal, Sunderland manager Steve
Bruce has confirmed that the club has not made any bids so far. Bruce said,
"There are no development ... We are always looking but I can't envisage being too busy. I have
seen reports this morning that we have lodged bids for certain players.
According to Sunderland's official website, Sunderland have loaned out defender
Matt Kilgallon to Doncaster Rovers for the rest of the
season.
UPDATE: According to Sunderland's official website, Sunderland
have completed the deals for Sulley Muntari and Stephane Sessegnon.
Sessegnon signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the club after Sunderland agreed to pay a
7million Euro transfer fee.
Muntari has joined the club on loan for the rest of the season.
According to James Hunter at the Evening Chronicle, Real Zaragoza are leading
the way for Sunderland defender Paulo Da Silva.
Last week Cruz Azul had made a bid for Da Silva that Sunderland accepted but
the 30-year-old rejected the move.
