Columbus Tries Again In Mexico

USSoccerPlayers 17 March @ 10:15 AM EDT
With J Hutcherson -- I'm not here to tell our Ohio friends what they should've been doing with their Sunday afternoon, but Cruz Azul gave the Crew a lesson on how to get a result at the Nemesio Diez. It's simple. Keep playing. Cruz Azul did that, taking advantage of a Toluca penalty miss and eventually netting the winner. Click to continue reading...

Manchester United 3-0 Fulham

Craven Cottage Newsround 14 March @ 12:36 PM EDT

Bah. The excitement is in the cups at the moment. This Sunday afternoon jaunt to Old Trafford was always likely to end in resigned shrugs.

March seems to bring about an improvement in Fulham's away form, and for 45 minutes this phenomenon was very much in evidence. While United were the better side, Fulham were in the game.

Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce has further turned up the heat ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The 3 steps to beat West Ham

All Four One, and One Four All! 24 February @ 03:40 AM EDT

At the outset, I should clarify that I did not watch this match fully. If a weekend fixture against a mid-table side cannot inspire Maddy enough that he needs to find true love on top of it to get his creativity flowing, then what chances did my midweek fixture against a bottom-feeder have? Gianfranco Zola has done a lot with West Ham, but figuring out how to beat us is certainly not one of them.

Dirk Kuyt Ready To Reel In Arch Rivals Manchester City

Anfield Talk 20 February @ 05:11 PM EDT
The match between Manchester City and Liverpool on Sunday afternoon is set up to be one of those highly-charged tipping points.
In the race for fourth, and the guaranteed wealth it brings with qualification for the Champions League, this is a fixture that will shape the run-in.
With reports suggesting Craig Bellamy has fallen out with Roberto Mancini (denied by the City manager), Carlos Tevez on indefinite compassionate leave in Argentina after the premature birth of his child and Patrick Vieira suspended for three matches for violent conduct against Stoke last week, City could do with some good news. The European Championship Draw Fails To Set The World Alight

Twohundredpercent 07 February @ 06:28 PM EDT

There is something feintly disorientating about the draw for the qualifying rounds of Euro 2012, coming, as it does, before the World Cup finals have even started and in the middle of the domestic season. Still, on a February Sunday afternoon in Warsaw, there it was with six groups of six teams and three groups of five and England face some tricky matches if they are to make it to Poland and Ukraine in two and a haf years time.

Gooner Talk 31 January @ 03:06 PM EDT

Arsenal's title hopes have been once again put in doubt after Manchester United produced a superb display in the crucial Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Well that didn’t go to plan or did it?

Avenell Road 25 January @ 04:58 AM EDT

Watching Arsenal crash out of the FA Cup at the hands of Stoke is not my favourite way I to spend a Sunday afternoon. I understand and agree with team selection: I realise the need to give valuable experience to many of what is hoped will be the stars of the not too distant future but even after grabbing that crumb of comfort it is still not enough to console me and alleviate the pain of watching the club that I love lose.

The Word is “Character”

Arsenal Station 18 January @ 07:17 AM EDT

Despite the managerial change, it was the same old trip to the Reebok on Sunday afternoon. Bone-crunching tackles, frustration taken out physically, and slightly questionable sportsmanship, yet Arsenal persevered and showed great character in a match that was much harder-fought than your average 2-nil victory.

Why ESPN’s BottomLine Ticker Annoys Soccer Fans

EPL Talk 04 January @ 07:30 AM EDT

If I had to count the number of times that ESPN has ruined Premier League games for me this season by running latest scores on their BottomLine Ticker while I'm recording games on Fox Soccer Channel or Setanta Sports, it would be definitely number more than a dozen.

Yes, before the readers respond by saying that you should be lucky ESPN shows any games, let me add that I appreciate everything ESPN has done this season in terms of Premier League coverage by raising the bar.

NOW It’s A Merry Christmas!!!

Arsenal made a statement on Sunday afternoon. This club just will not fade away or go crawl under a rock like many expected after the disappointing home defeat to Chelsea. They refused to believe that the 2009-10 Premier League season had become a two-horse race, if it already wasn't before.

Don’t Go Throwing Stones Mr Wenger!

But we cannot moan really can we?

I am not talking about the teams that we field in the League Cup, okay we field our youngsters and take a chance to see how far we get.

Good Game Bad Game [vs Arsenal]

A Liverpool Thing 14 December @ 09:00 AM EDT
One of the biggest headaches of Liverpool being in the Europa League is that this will mean an increased number of Sunday afternoon games which are quite difficult to get to watch because that is usually exclusively family time.
Of course, as with most other fans, I normally plan ahead to make sure that I get to watch the games but on this occasion I had to miss the first thirty five minutes which, therefore, would make it unfair for me to do the usual distinction between who had a good or a bad game. The two clubs whose status as members of the 'Big Four' is under most threat this season lock horns at Anfield on Sunday in what could be described as a must-win affair for both of them.

Ouch in the head + Arsecast 142

Bloody hell man. I am most *boilked* indeed. I was at the wedding of some chums last night. A beautiful couple they were, shame about the rest of us, although I was told a couple of times that I looked like a contract killer in my quite sharp indeed suit. It's something I'm considering if this recession gets any worse.
