The University of Denver women's soccer team avenged its loss against Middle Tennessee in the
2010 Sun Belt Conference Championship game on Friday, earning a 4-2 win over the Blue Raiders in
the SBC opener for both teams.
Kristen Hamilton led DU with her second two-goal game of the season, while Nicholette DiGiacomo
and Bria Beardsley also scored.
DU's Nicholette DiGiacomo scored on a penalty kick, but the Pioneers fell 2-1 to the No. 22
Auburn Tigers in the Denver Invitational on Sunday morning.
The Pioneers (6-2-0) finished the Denver Invitational 1-1-0.
"The first half, they were a little better than we were," said coach Jeff Hooker.
Kristen Hamilton's weekend play scoring twice on Friday and assisting on both goal on Sunday
earned the DU sophomore forward player of the week honors from the Sun Belt Conference.
"Kristen has had a tremendous start to the year, and this weekend was an indicator of how well
she prepared during the offseason," head coach Jeff Hooker said.
The DU women's soccer team will open the 2011 season in the inaugural Colorado Cup during a
schedule that features nine games at CIBER Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium, head
coach Jeff Hooker announced Friday.
The Pioneers will face three 2010 NCAA Tournament teams, including Auburn and Middle Tennessee
at home, as well as hosting Nebraska in its first year in the Big 10.
The University of Denver women's soccer team's spring schedule includes regional rival Air Force
at home, as well as a tournament at Wyoming that features the Cowboys, Colorado and Northern
Colorado, head coach Jeff Hooker announced.
"We have put together our most challenging spring season thus far and are excited for the
opportunity to grow as a team," Hooker said.
