As we do for certain televised events, we thought we would offer a "business blog" of the ESPN
broadcast. The match was presented by AT&T. Last year I was sitting on press row at Red Bull
Arena for the ASG, but tonight (devotion to my beautiful wife's birthday), I am on the couch.Â
Thus, the business blog will focus on the broadcast rather than the events in Philly.

English Premier League giants Arsenal Football Club have announced that they will host the
inaugural Arsenal Summer Soccer Academies USA program in summer 2009 in Colorado. Trained Arsenal
coaches will travel from the UK over to the United States to lead the five-day co-ed intensive
programs for 11-16 year olds, teaching young players how to ‘Play the Arsenal Way'.
Drury University Men's and Women's Soccer teams will be hosting a variety of summer soccer
academies this June, for both boys and girls, at Harrison Stadium.
The Little Panther Half-day Academy runs from June 15-18, 9am-12:00pm and is suitable for
players aged from 5-7 years old.

14th through August 6th and now sources have revealed the names of some of the clubs being lined up
to compete in the competition.

U.S. this summer. Soccer By Ives and Sports Business Journal both report that Manchester United are
close to agreeing to a four game summer North American tour.
During the tour United would headline the MLS All-Star Game at Houston's Reliant Stadium which

In a lot of ways, foreign club tours of America have exposed just how secondary MLS's secondary
status is even in its home country compared to foreign soccer.
The Seattle Sounders have added a PDL team to their youth development program, partnering with
the Tacoma Tide and rebranding the team as Sounders FC U-23. The team will be coached by current

An Open Letter to the editorial staff of the Star Tribune
On Tuesday, December 14, two days after the NCAA Division 1 soccer final, a game that Minnesotan
Teal Bunbury featured in, IMS sent a letter to the editorial department of the Star Tribune. While
I expected they would not publish my somewhat damning letter, I had hoped to get some sort of a
response which never came.
I decided to forgo the high school season again - mostly because I've looked at my schedule, and
realized that I'll just be too busy to do it; most of the games are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and
Sundays - all of which I have booked well into next year. Instead I'll do some women's league
games, which run on different days of the week; this has the added benefit of not being on (as)
crappy fields, so I'm less likely to turn or tweak anything.
