The name of Mauro Zarate has featured before in these pages but stories are gathering momentum
today over a proposed loan move for the striker who is already playing on loan at Inter after
failing to nail down a regular slot at parent club Lazio.
The player's agent is certainly talking up the possibility of a move this month.
Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has advised his club against buying rising star
Marco Reus. The 22 year Borussia Mochengladbach player has been the centre of attention for a
number of clubs including Arseanl who had shown an interest in him early last month.
Surprisingly, the reason why Schweinsteiger is opposed to Reus's move is because Reus is a
direct rival for his position in the team.
According to The Sun, Sours boss Harry Redknapp wants to unite Man City's wantaway striker with
on-loan City star Emmanuel Adebayor at White Hart Lane.
A source close to the talks is quoted as saying:
"People at Tottenham reckon a deal like this could be bigger than anything since they signed
Jurgen Klinsmann.
Quiet rumours about a Tottenham move for Manchester City's Carlos Tevez have been appearing in
the press since the start of the season and while there was a brief acceleration in the stories
after the Argentinean's alleged refusal to come on as sub in Munich, most Spurs fans have rightly
ignored them.
Chelsea's versatile winger/striker Salomon Kalou is being linked with a move away from Stamford
Bridge as the January transfer window approaches. According to most newspapers in France, the
Ivorian could end up at Paris St. Germain as the club continues to purchase stars from across
Europe.
Kalou has previously been linked with a move to Marseille, but with PSG now cash-rich the former
French giants could land the Ivory Coast star.

Alex Horne, with a little Madonna-esque microphone
FA big-wig Alex Horne believes that the much-debated goal-line technology could finally be
introduced into top level football as early as next season. Horne says that if one of the current
systems which are being tested is found to work reliably, then the technology is likely to be
introduced.
It was interesting to read that the LA Galaxy are lining up a move for Frank Lampard if David
Beckham decides to end his time there at the end of his bumper contract this season. Firstly,
Lampard himself has said that he believes he still has a few years left in him at the top of level
and secondly, his recent engagement to Christine Bleakley will provide a stumbling block as she
continues in his career in TV.
If you believe Howard Beck of The New York Times, the NBA labor deal is 95% complete. The writer
says that the main stumbling block remains the BRI split but that most every other issue has been
agreed upon by both sides. If that is true, the NBA lockout could end rather quickly if the two
sides can agree on the split.

I fancy him to score tomorrow... Liverpool make the long journey down South tomorrow to face Harry
Redknapp's Tottenham Hotspur. The London side got off the mark properly in their last league game
against Wolves whilst Liverpool hit a stumbling block at Stoke. Liverpool are without Glen Johnson
for this one as his niggling hamstring injury appears to be back.

Espanyol Chase Out-of-Favour Poulsen
Spanish side Espanyol are said to be interested in securing the signing of Liverpool outcast
Christian Poulsen. The deal being arranged is believed to be one that will take the Dane on loan to
La Liga for the season, with view to a permanent deal at the end of the year.
With four days to go to the end of the transfer window, we know that Arsene Wenger intends to
sign at least 20 players if the media gossip is to be believed. In my estimation we need four
players and whilst improbable given the time remaining, I present my transfers bets based upon the
availability and qualities of the players involved.

Just a day after the players strike in Spain had been resolved and La Liag will begin its season
this weekend, comes news that the first week in Serie A has been called off due to players
strike.
The final attempt to reach a solution didn't happened until Friday, morning so the players
association decided to go on with their strike and refused to take on the pitch for the first week
of Serie A, a disappointing decision that according to the AIC's president, Dammiano Tomassi, could
get worse if agreement still can't be reached.
Craig Bellamy looks to be returning to Liverpool from Man City on a free-transfer.
The talented Welsh striker, now aged 32, is reported across the media in saying that returning to
Liverpool again as "A dream come true."
The only stumbling block appears to be his remaining one year's contract at Man City where his
incredible £95,000 a week wages need to be paid by one or other of the clubs concerned.

A swap deal may well be Spurs' best chance of getting new blood into the squad for the start of
the season, but can there really be any value in exchanging Peter Crouch for Bobby Zamora?
This story started quietly on Saturday morning and gathered predictable momentum as the weekend
went on.
The latest news on the rather long running saga with Mevlut Erdinc is that Newcastle have been

Milan Jovanovic's agent Dejan Veljkovic believes the midfielder will "definitely" join Anderlecht
from Liverpool.
The Serbian winger has been told that he is surplus to requirements at Anfield, despite only
joining the club from Standard Liege last summer, scoring just two goals in 18 appearances.
As we approach the Emirates Cup and Wenger's self -imposed timescale for transfers, there are
favourable rumblings.
One of Spain's leading sports newspapers Marca is quoted as saying that Arsenal are close to
finalising a deal for the Valencia winger Juan Mata. The deal is being held up as Tottenham,
surprise, have launched a late bid.
If you believe what you read in the newspapers – which is admittedly a dangerous thing to do
– then it seems that Spurs seem to want the best of all worlds when it comes to the transfer
market.
Recently, Harry dismissed all reports of an imminent bid for Scott Parker when he underlined
that Spurs would not bid for a 30 year old with no resale value.

Bolton and impressed, scoring 8 goals in 12 Premier League appearances.
Liverpool are ready to rekindle their interest in Bayer Leverkusens Michael Kadlec having grown
frustrated in their pursuit of a new left-back.
The Reds have limited options on the left side of their defence, where England right-back Glen
Johnson was often forced to fill in last season as Anfield flop Paul Konchesky was loaned to
Nottingham Forest and yester day sold to Leicester City
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish has found it difficult to solve the problem position so far this summer as

for Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder but ESPNsoccernet sources believe the player's wage
demands may still prove a stumbling block.
Liverpool is considering a move for Manchester City misfit Wayne Bridge if they fail to lure
Leighton Baines away from neighbours Everton.
The City left-back is way down the pecking order at Eastlands following the arrival of Gael Clichy
from Arsenal, and will certainly be shipped out this summer by Roberto Mancini.

Not bad for a day's work Sunderland have, as of a few hours ago, officially wrapped up three
pretty decent signings, with Wes Brown and John O'Shea putting pen to paper after serving for a
combined total of 28 years with Manchester United, and ex-Blackpool terrier David Vaughan
arriving on a freebie with four-year, four-year and three-year deals agreed respectively.

for a player to shoulder attacking responsibility on the pitch and 'deliver magic'.
Tottenham are set to renew their interest in Joe Cole - if Luka Modric is allowed to go to
Chelsea.
Liverpool outcast Cole looks destined to leave Anfield after just a year and he could be reunited
with his old Hammers boss Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane.
Cole is surplus to requirements on Merseyside following the summer arrival of Jordan Henderson from
Sunderland, but the 29-year-old's move south depends on Spurs granting Modric his dream move across
London to Chelsea.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is set to enter the race for Southampton striker Alex
Oxlade-Chamberlain.
