Alex Morgan scored a pair for the U.S. Women's National Team as they overcame a 1-0 deficit to grab
the win in stoppage time, 2-1.
Fun fact: The two headers in the 88th and 93rd minute meant that ten of her career 16 goals have
come in the 80th minute or later.
An uncharacteristically poor backpass to second half goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart gave New Zealand
the lead shortly after halftime (49th minute), but the sometimes sloppy Lady Nats found another
victory in the jaws of defeat.
The U.S. Women's National Team came from behind thanks to two late Alex Morgan goals to defeat
New Zealand, 2-1, in an international friendly on Saturday afternoon at FC Dallas Stadium (formerly
Pizza Hut Park) in Frisco, Texas. Morgan, who gained a reputation as a super-sub during the 2011
Women's World Cup, started this match, but still saved her best for late, tallying in the 88th
minute and deep into stoppage time.
Thierry Henry added to his legend with the most crucial of goals for Arsenal yesterday, ensuring
he bowed out of his return to the Premier League on a high note.
The French striker scored his 229th goal for the club in stoppage time at the Stadium of Light,
to give the Gunners a crucial three points that saw them leapfrog Chelsea into fourth place.
As the U.S. WNT has done more than a few times under Pia Sundhage, they left it late and got the
job done, scoring twice in the last five minutes of the game to come from behind and defeat a gusty
New Zealand side by a 2-1 score. The sell-out crowd of 20,677 was the largest to watch the U.
Scottish Premier League Recap 11 February 2012 - The 90th Minute Soccer Blog
Below is a recap of all the SPL matches on February 11, 2012.
Dunfermline 1-4 Rangers
Rangers get goals from four different players to keep pace in the title race. Dunfermline
remains last in the table with a -30 goal difference.
Thierry Henry came off the bench in his last Premier League appearance for Arsenal this year and
capped the occasion off in perfect style with a late stoppage time goal that wrapped up all three
points for the Gunners.
In a toughly contested match at the Stadium of Light, James McLean opened the scoring for
Sunderland 25 minutes into the second half, when he capitalized on Per Mertesacker's slip to guide
the ball past Wojciech Szczesny from an acute angle.
Blackpool's reward for a scintillating 3-0 demolition of Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough is
a trip to Everton in the FA Cup fifth round.
The game was effectively won in the opening 15 minutes as Matt Phillips continued his red-hot
scoring streak with a precise finish and Lomana LuaLua curled in a superb effort soon after.
Spurs played for a scoreless draw, Spurs got their scoreless draw.
While Liverpool's attackers could and should have done more, Tottenham's defending merited the
scoreless draw. King and Dawson were outstanding, with Parker almost as important. After a paucity
of clear cut chances for both sides, each could have scored the winner in the last five minutes,
with Friedel and Reina making huge saves on Bale and Suarez.
Manchester United head into Sunday's fixture at Stamford Bridge off the back of three
consecutive victories in the Premier League and an opportunity to back on level points with
City.
Penalties from Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov either side of half time on transfer
deadline day lead Manchester United on their way to 3 points as Manchester City were being beat at
Everton thanks to a strike from former Red Devil Darron Gibson.
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is extremely impressed with Swansea City's home record and suggests
that the toughness of the Welsh outfit at Liberty Stadium should ensure survival in the Barclays
Premier League.
Following last night's 1-1 draw with the Blues, the Swans are now nine points clear of the
relegation zone with a little over a third of the season left to go.

FIFA is considering a number of rule changes that could have a major impact on the international
game going forward.
The major proposal that FIFA's board is facing would allow teams to use a fourth substitute in
extra time in an attempt to cut down on player injuries.
Didn't catch the game live, but after watching the highlights, I wish I had. In the 5th minute of
stoppage time, Gabon's Bruno-Zita Mbanangoye hit a spectacular free kick (probably a goal of the
tourney) that earned the co-hosts a berth in the quaterfinals, knocking out one of the favorites to
win it all.
Tunisia The team to beat at Africa Cup of Nations 2012? is a post from: Just Football
My latest African football column for FourFourTwo looks at Tunisia and
whether they are the team to beat at this year's AFCON:
For a team that could just as easily be sitting at home watching on TV, they made a pretty good
start.
Congratulations to Menomonee Falls' Kurt Windbiel, the winner of our "Rise and Shine: The
Jay DeMerit Story" contest.
Windbiel fared the best in predicting the recent U.S. men's national team matches and won the
grand prize: a DVD of the documentary along with a t-shirt and poster from the movie's theatrical
release.

One of the favorites to win this year's Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana opened its tournament with
a narrow victory over Botswana that can best be described as a roller coaster for John Mensah.
The Ghana captain endured highs and lows in Ghana's Group D opener, scoring the only goal before
receiving a red card and then picking up a hamstring injury.
Sometimes it is so, so nice to be so, so wrong. Spain's 4-3 win over Yugoslavia in Euro 2000 was
memorably described at the time has "having everything except full-frontal nudity." Given
Equatorial Guinea's celebration of their astounding 2-1 win over Senegal in the ACN last night, I
expect we had that as well.
It's high time again for another hat trick and QOTD. Today's piece will focus a bit more on the
USMNT as a couple of big games loom tonight and this weekend. One of the matchups includes two
American soccer icons in a clash this weekend, which should make for must watch TV. Also follow
after the break to have your say in the QOTD.
Their Words We said from day one that we would do everything first-class. To bring the best of the
sport to Philadelphia in just three years is great. We got a franchise and the All-Star Game.

Given that he really shouldn't have been on the pitch by that time, Tottenham had every right to
feel absolutely bloody eviscerated at the final whistle seeing as Mario Balotelli both won and
then subsequently rolled home a 95th-minute penalty to nab all three points for Man City with the
final touch of the game at the Etihad.
The United States beat Venezuela in Glendale Arizona courtesy of a stoppage time header from
Ricardo Clark.
Manchester City went six points clear at the Barclays Premier League summit after a late penalty
conversion from Mario Balotelli ensured a thrilling 3-2 win over a resilient Tottenham Hotspur at
the Etihad Stadium.
After a slow first half, the hosts came alive at the beginning of the second, with goals from
Samir Nasri and Joleon Lescott creating a comfortable two-goal cushion.
Ricardo Clark headed home Jermaine Jones' corner in the 7th minute of stopping time to help the
United States to a 1-0 victory over 10-man Venezuela before 22,403 at University of Phoenix
Stadium.
The American's win was its third in eight matches since Jurgen Klinsmann took over from Bob
Bradley as coach last year.

Oxford United's veteran centre-back Michael Duberry was in rare old form against Hereford
yesterday afternoon, scoring the perfect hat-trick (one left, one right, one head) in his side's
2-2 draw at the Kassam.
You may have noticed that the maths doesn't quite add up there and with good reason.

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The U.S. Men's National Team opened the year in dramatic fashion as Ricardo
Clark tallied a game-winning goal seven minutes into second-half stoppage time for a 1-0 win
against Venezuela at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

It wasn't that long ago that Providence product Michael Parkhurst and Attleboro native Geoff
Cameron were just two local talents hoping to play their way from the grassy fields of
southeastern New England onto the big stage.
Cue the big stage.
On Saturday, the defending duo both of whom played club soccer for Rhode Island-based Bayside FC
found themselves paired together in the center of the United States defense for the first time
during the squad's 1-0 shutout of Venezuela.
For 90 minutes the U.S. Men's National Team dominated play against Venezuela on Saturday night
at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz, but couldn't find the goal they needed to take
the lead. Substitute Ricardo Clark finally had the answer with a stoppage time header to give the
U.S. a deserved 1-0 victory.

Just when it looked like the U.S. men's national team was destined for another scoreless game, a
familiar face came up with the timeliest of goals.
Substitute Ricardo Clark powered home a header deep into stoppage time on Saturday night,
giving the United States a 1-0 victory over Venezuela at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale,
Arizona in its opening match of 2012.
The United States opened its 2012 schedule with a 1-0 friendly draw against Venezuela at University
of Phoenix Stadium. The USA got a last gasp goal, with Ricardo Clark scoring from a corner kick
late into stoppage time. Both teams were using experimental lineups, with the game falling outside
of the international window.
Sentenced to three days in a freezing pond, Besart Berisha (right, front) attempts to explain to
his team mates exactly what he was hoping to achieve by 'offering out' Sydney defender Pascal
Bosschaart. Image via couriermail.au
There were some ugly scenes that followed Brisbane Roar's 2-0 victory over Sydney FC in the
Australian A-League recently, after Brisbane striker Besart Berisha scored his side's stoppage
time-winning goal: he removed his shirt (not ugly) and gestured for Sydney FC's Pascal Bosschaart
to follow him into the tunnel to 'sort things out' (where things proceeded to get ugly).

Sacha Kljestan and RSC Anderlecht returned to league action this weekend for the first time
since December, and they both picked up right where they left off.
RSC Anderlecht continued its winning ways with a 3-0 victory over third-place Club Brugge on
Sunday.

"Here love, put down the ironing for a minute, my car bonnet needs a good
waxing..."
Ipswich lost again last night; 2-1 to Birmingham, Nikola Zigic nabbing the winner in stoppage
time, their 11th defeat in 14 matches.
Manager Paul Jewell was also left fuming over an incident in which Ipswich winger Lee Martin was
fouled in the box by Brum's Stephen Caldwell and no penalty was given on the insistence of the
referee's assistant a lady human with a vulva and everything by the name of Amy Fearn.
1. Poor refereeing – the gift that keeps on giving.
Those that have been watching long enough will argue if Kompany's tackle was really worth the
red card. A few years ago, it would have been a brilliant tackle but now considered a foul, but
honestly to fans on both sides, was it really worth a red card?
Keep Clam...and beat a Top-4 London Rival
Hey, remember that time I was freaking out because I was positive that Fulham F.C. were in a
tailspin and I said manager Martin Jol was on the verge on getting fired if they didn't do well in
their upcoming matches?
It was only two weeks ago.

It's not been a good few days for Manchester United? Four days after slumping to a home defeat
against lowly old Blackburn, United found themselves on the end of a relative 3-0 tonking at the
Sports Direct North East Regional Distribution Centre which gave their title aspirations yet
another toe-punt in the undercarriage.
It's not all that surprising that an American scored at Goodison Park on Wednesday. After all,
Everton's match against Bolton marked Landon Donovan's return to the Toffees. Thing is, Donovan
wasn't the one to find the back of the net.
In open play, goalkeeper Tim Howard unleashed a long kick from his own box that took a perfect
bounce from about 25 yards out and got carried by a furious wind over Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan
into the goal.
Clint Dempsey and Fulham headlined another day of National Teamers in action in England's Premier
League. Fulham beat Arsenal 2-1 at Craven Cottage, the latest in a series of games where elite
clubs have stumbled. Arsenal led from the 21st minute, but were reduced to ten men when Johan
Djourou was sent off in the 78th.
Norwich should not be underestimated, a good team with a good manager and we should have
expected a tricky game. In the end we got one, Norwich's assortment of Russells and Bradleys and
Wesleys eventually powering their team to a well deserved equaliser in stoppage time.
Another late goal?
As we gnash teeth, but before we point fingers and burn Jol in effigy and point out that was our
100th goal conceded in the final 15minutes this season and make excuses such as the
following...
Where in the blue blazes did 5 minutes in stoppage time come from?!?
A pair of Wisconsin boys teams had a tough time at the prestigious Disney Soccer Showcase this
week in Orlando, Fla., both finishing 0-2-1 in group play.
Elm Grove SC Premier pulled out a 1-1 draw against Maryland's Bethesda SC Gunners in Under-18/19
Copa Black Division play Wednesday. Jimmy Grunert (Muskego) scored the equalizer for Elm
Grove off an assist from Evan Carlin (Wauwatosa West) with 10 seconds left in stoppage
time.

Liverpool 1-1 Blackburn Rovers Premier League 26th December 2011
You know things are bad when even your local bishop is telling fans to lay off the abuse, but
for Blackburn's under-fire boss Steve Kean, Boxing Day brought a bit of Christmas cheer (excuse the
cliché) in a hard-fought draw at Anfield.
