So after a terrible game in Finland where we were lucky enough to escape with three points, its time to move on to the last official game of the Euro 2012 qualifiers. Oh, sure, there is still a play-off coming up, but there is one last chance that we might just be able to avoid that and wouldn´t that be nice?

I would hate to be in Helsinki this coming Friday. Its already enough that the cruise ships that trawl back and forth between Stockholm and the Finish capital bring their fair share of completely loaded weekend alcoholics. It's another thing when you mix this with a football game. Come Friday night, Helsinki is going to be packed with Sweden supporters singing loud and obnoxiously while downing beer after beer.

Good morning from a wild and windy Dublin. I think summer, such as it was, is now well and truly gone.

There's gloomy news to start with this morning involving Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgian is set to miss two months having undergone ankle surgery in Stockholm early this week. He picked up a knock away to Udinese and although Arsene Wenger was hopeful he might play against United at Old Trafford things have taken a very obvious turn for the worse.

Writing a blog about football means having to admit that you are wrong more often than not. Starting things of on Friday the 15th of April it was the clash of the titans, or maybe one titan and a has-been titan? Djurgårdens IF played hosts to reigning champions Malmö FF at the old Olympic Stadium in Stockholm. Djurgården used to be one of the top teams in Sweden and I don't think it's a stretch to imagine that in the near future they could reach such heights again.

On Tuesday, in a press conference in Stockholm, Swedish national coach Erik Hamren released the squad for the Euro qualifier against Moldova. Of all the squads he's had to pick so far this was probably the most difficult. There are several reasons for this.

The first reason is Olof Mellberg's red card against San Marino when we were already up 2-0 or something unreachable like that.
