I haven't done interviews for a while. My full time job had been at its peak, but now with a slight
tailing off and the Sounders in the Playoffs I hope to get you a few interviews. First up is Steve
Zakuani. Rookie of the Year candidate, fan favorite and a threat along that [...]

That line is from Sigi Schmid, but I think it relates to so many of us after this first season. I
know it personally feels that way. Last night, with all of the pomp, with the win, it was one of my
favorite days of my young life that didn't involve family (yes, [...]

The Seattle Sounders shut down any hopes for the F.C. Dallas winning the Major League Soccer Cup
this year by eliminating them from the playoffs. Saturday night's game at the Qwest Fields in
Seattle was a saddening loss for Dallas when they let in two goals, ending the game 2-1.
Sigi Schmid waves to the fans, in a 3-0 Seattle Sounders victory over the New Your Red Bulls,
Thursday, March 19, 2009.

Thank you Jim Mora. He was right. No team wants to talk about the Playoffs. They just want to win
more games. Now, for the Sounders that includes a Playoff game, preferably at least three. This
match was another where the Sounders played well enough to double their goal scoring total, and
also played maybe the [.

I'm still as certain as ever that while Sigi has been employing the Arrow formation with a
defensive midfielder and a box-to-box man the offensive woes of the team are such that finding a
way to get five offensive players on the pitch rather than the 4.5 to 6.5 ratio that exists now is
vital. [...]

Its finally Friday, though I will admit this week has flown by for me due to it being a four-day
work week and things being fairly steady on both the regular job front and this place. I had
planned to do more than what had been posted today but I blame the weird rainy weather here in
Dallas for me not getting around to some of it.

Many will like to look at this match and say the Sounders played better than Chivas and so deserved
to win. I'm a results focused guy though, they tend to actually wind up in the standings and the
trophies. Teams either earn results or they don't. In this case Zach Thorton earned the results. He

Loads of goals this week in MLS. Some were good and others were so-so. Throw in a few PKs and it
was a busy weekend in MLS.
There are plenty of goals this week, especially since we had a 6-3 game and a 3-2 game.
Order of video: Frankie Hejduk, Maicon Santos, Dave van den Burgh, Jeff Cunningham, A.

DC United proudly display the word "tradition" on their back collars. There isn't another MLS club
that could do so. They have earned it. There was an idea that they carry 12 trophies means that
they deserve the 13th and that expansion franchises will never deserve respect propagated on the
net, somewhat [.

This is simply incredible. You have heard of the much used phrase "harder to miss than score"
well this 'effort' from Seattle Sounder Steve Zakuani is exactly that. Incredible! Thanks to

I am guilty of knowing precisely nothing about MLS, but I gather this - Zakuani was selected by
Seattle Sounders FC as the number one pick in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft on a Generation Adidas
contract. - from Steve Zakuani's wiki means that he is supposed to be a fairly decent player. He
was also [...]

Good teams win at home and draw on the road. Currently Seattle is literally drawing 100% of matches
on the road, earning 1 point per match. They are earning 1.83 points per match at home. THIS
DOESN"T MEAN THEY ARE A GOOD TEAM. Good teams finish. Good teams win when they outplay their
opponent. The [.

Columbus Crew are the best team in the MLS at the moment, having won their last five matches in the
MLS, being unbeaten in their last eight and conceding just four goals in their last eight matches.

It definitely was an interesting week in Major League Soccer. Out of all the results this
weekend, all but one were a 2-0 scoreline. Because of that we went ahead and put all the goals into
one package for the goals of the week. The best in my opinion is still Eddie Gavin's goal.
Order: Chris Rolfe, Mike Banner, Steve Zakuani, Fredy Montero, Maykel Galindo, Eduardo
Lillingston, Chad Marshall, Eddie Gavin, Dwayne de Rosario, and O'Brien White

Earlier we opened up the pregame analysis with a look at the defensive five in Bruce Arena's
current 4-1-3-2 system. Those five have been quite effective defensively, limiting their opposition
to the second fewest shots and second best goals against average in the league. But this match is a
marquee crusher because of the Galaxy [.

The color is Rave Green, the direction is North and West. Some quick thoughts directly after the

importantly played that brand of soccer we love, it certainly involved risk and hit the SSFC with a

agosto.

Colorado have games in hand versus the Sounders, including more matches at home than any other
team. This game has more value in the standings than any other this month. It reminds the league
that home is where the Sounders feast, and forces the Rapids to pause in their attempt to pass
Seattle. One [.

Fifteen of thirty matches played. 22 of 45 points won. A new standard for expansion in the league,
and yet no where near the goals that the organization has put forward. What have we learned from
the first half of the Sounders season? 1 Like in hockey a great keeper can carry a club. [...]

It seems odd to say, but on Match Day Fifteen I see a must win on the road. It isn't necessarily to
stop the bleeding, 4 points in 2 at home is a great average. If Sounders do that over the season at
home they would be 75% to the playoffs. This is a [...]

The story of this game could be one of matchups, of lineup construction, or of the coaching
philosophies, but for me the story is the three players vying for the MLS Rookie of the Year. While

bit [...]

It seems like all the buzz these days in comments at the Seattle Times, or at GoalSeattle, or even

Last night we saw the Freddyain (Two Freddies) at both their best and their worst. Some of the

Ok, so Nate Jaqua will not be in Rave Green this weekend. The question is "What will Sigi do?" No

So I was playing with a way to compare offensive production - actual goals scored, and assisted. I
figure that something that dealt with minutes played would be important. So I borrowed from the

MLS teams have learned to stop Montero by marking him hard. By crowding him when he's on ball, and
to never give him a shot inside the box. They know that his vision, while good, is sometimes
