The U.S. women's national team won 14-0 over the Dominican Republic on Friday. Yes, the women's

There was a single moment of 2011 that has managed to stay in the back of my mind for months. It is
a moment that few would care to remember but I believe it is one of importance. Early in the season
there was an ill-fated tackle from a scrambling Brian Mullan that ended the season of Seatlle's
Steve Zakuani.
File this one under the section of things that the Seattle Sounders front office does well.
This clever set of videos are to help get fans in Seattle to renew their season tickets for
another season. Seriously. All jokes aside with these videos but this is great. You don't see one
other clubs in the league doing anything remotely close to this.
Recently many American soccer teams have begun their season ticket renewal campaigns. Some of them
have been met with derision. Some have been welcomed by The Don. And others involve dinner dates
with Steve Zakuani. Can you guess which one is funnier?
One of my favorite records of last year was Mark Ronson & the Business International's "Record
Collection." The title track features Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran) on the hook and a verse by U.K. MC
Wiley. Everytime I listen to that song I actually imagine Steve Zakuani doing Wiley's verse and
after hearing him rap I feel like I was a visionary.
An offensive explosion the likes of which the Colorado Rapids haven't produced in three months
proved to be not quite enough on the road against the Seattle Sounders.
Wells Thompson and Jeff Larentowicz scored in the first half to put the Rapids up 2-1 at the
break. Seattle came back with three second-half goals and held on after a late Caleb Folan strike
to win 4-3 on Saturday.
The Colorado Rapids are undefeated when Scott Palguta scores.
Admittedly, the reserve defender has only scored twice in his career, with both goals coming
this season. Each strike, however, has been the winner in 2-1 decisions for the Rapids (6-5-9, 27
points).
Palguta, who came on when Danny Earls couldn't continue after 23 minutes, was in the right place
at the right time to stroke home a rebound from a Conor Casey header and put the Rapids up 2-0 on
the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night.
Just amazing stuff. After the horrific tackle that broke Steve Zakuani's leg, his long road to
recovery is looking better by the week. Great news!
This is the fifth, and likely final, season of David Beckham with the LA Galaxy, and as the MLS
leaders arrive in Colorado to take on the Rapids, this Saturday night may be the final chance for
the midfielder to flash his famous right-footed free kicks at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
If he produces something positive for the Galaxy in the thin air at Commerce City, it will be a
sea change for the superstar who has been either absent or a nonentity in Colorado since joining
the league in 2007.
The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee today suspended Chivas USA midfielder Marcos
Mondaini for his tackle on Real Salt Lake midfielder Javier Morales in the 38th minute of the game
on May 7.
Mondaini received a red card for the challenge, which resulted in Morales suffering two broken
bones and torn ligaments in his left ankle.
For the third team in the two plus month old 2011 MLS Season a player has suffered a broken bone as
a result of a tackle. This weekend it was Javier Morales of Real Salt Lake who broke his ankle
during this tackle by Chivas USA's Marcos Mondaini:
This tackle induced injury comes on the heels of two other high profile incidents where tackles
resulted in broken bones.
