1. Before you demonstrate a complete lack of cultural awareness, consider that biting is actually a very common gesture to signify good defending in Uruguay. 2. He might have a taste for human flesh, but Luis Suarez made the race for Champions League football very interesting with his late, late equaliser against Chelsea.
The Premier League kicked off its 2012-13 season with both Swansea and Fulham winning big, while
it was a disappointing first game in charge for Brendan Rodgers of Liverpool.
Swansea City midfielder Michu scored a goal in each half on his Premier League debut as the
Swans thumped Queens Park Rangers 5-0 at Loftus Road.
Chelsea moved back up to fourth place in the Premier League after picking up a 2-1 away victory
against Wolves, although it took an 89th-minute winner by Frank Lampard to end Chelsea's four-match
winless run.
Stephen Ward thought he had done enough to earn Wolves their fourth consecutive draw when he
cancelled out Ramires's second-half effort with just five minutes remaining, but Lampard pounced to
take the Blues a point above Arsenal, who failed to reclaim fourth spot after losing 2-1 at
Fulham.
Liverpool head to Fulham on Monday knowing a win would equal a club record of away successes.
In all competitions it is six victories in succession away from home - a win at Craven Cottage will
equal the club record of seven set between December 1981 - February 1982 and again in January -
March 1988.
The result was a lot better than the performance on Saturday April 20 when Arsenal snuck in and out of Craven Cottage and took three points from cross town rivals Fulham. An argument could be made that if Fulham didn't have Steve Sidwell sent off in the 12th minute of play then points would have been dropped.
When Fulham's Steve Sidwell was sent off just 12 minutes into Saturday's match at Craven Cottage, three points seemed all but guaranteed for Champions League hopeful Arsenal.
The visiting Gunners never do anything easily though, and they struggled to get one past Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer until just before halftime, when Laurent Koscielny's header across the face of the goal found the head of fellow center back Per Mertesacker.
Arsenal are up to third in the Premier League after a narrow win at Fulham, while Everton and Wigan suffered blows to their respective goals.
With their win Arsenal leapfrogged Chelsea and put pressure on them and Spurs to win tomorrow in their big games.
Fulham's Steve Sidwell was just back from a 3-match suspension for a red card at the beginning of the month and he lasted only 12 minutes before receiving another red card for a bad tackle on Arteta.
Fulham midfielder Steve Sidwell returned from suspension to start today's game against Arsenal and he lasted 12 minutes before getting sent-off. The former Chelsea man was given his marching orders for this late lunge on Gunners midfielder Mikel Arteta. Via 101GG
Manchester City 2-0 Fulham Premier League 19th January 2013
David Silva was the star of the show for Man City on Saturday, with the diminutive Spaniard netting both goals in the Citizens' comfortable victory against a poor Fulham side.
Silva opened the scoring after just two minutes, following up after Mark Schwarzer could only parry an Edin Dzeko effort.
Fulham battled excellently to hold Chelsea to a draw at Stamford Bridge, and will be in confident mood heading into this clash against fellow Londoners Tottenham. An in-form Spurs will provide a stern test for the Cottagers however:
- John Arne Riise failed to convert either of two clear chances against Chelsea.
Wigan's Ben Watson and Fulham's Steve Sidwell made referee Lee Probert the meat in their sandwich as both men went for a 50/50 tackle which put Probert on the ground needing attention before jokingly brandishing a red card.

Fulham 5-0 Norwich City Premier League August 18 2012
West London was obviously the place to be on Saturday for Premier League debutantes: while over
at Loftus Road, Swansea's Michu was bagging brace, at Craven Cottage, Fulham's new Croatian hitman,
Mladen Petric, was also knocking in two goals on his debut.
Fulham thrashed Norwich, Swansea crushed QPR, Sunderland held Arsenal, and Newcastle edged Spurs
in the English Premier League on August 18, 2012. Other results include West Brom cruising past
Liverpool, Reading rallying for a draw, and West Ham winning their season opener.
Arsenal 0-0 Sunderland
Arsenal dominated possession and chances but couldn't find the back of the net.
Interested in your views on how replaceable players are. I remember a few years ago, getting
to White Hart Lane and finding that Hangeland was out and the much maligned Chris Baird was playing
instead. The result: comfortable enough 0-0 draw.
If Hangeland were to break his leg tomorrow I would be reasonably happy that a combination of
Hughes, Baird and Senderos would be more than adequate to keep us broadly where we'd have been with
Hangeland.

Apologies for lack of posting. For one thing there doesn't seem much concrete to talk about:
will they, won't they, etc... For another our increasingly antiquated work IT setup has made it all
but impossible for me to post from there. No, don't get me wrong, I work hard, honest, just that I
used to do a lot of writing first thing in the morning or at lunchtime.

A brilliant Rafael Van der Vaart strike guided Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-0 win at Watford while
Marouane Fellaini's decisive second-half goal saw off Fulham in Friday's all-Premier League FA Cup
Fourth Round clash at Goodison Park.
Van der Vaart struck right before half-time from 30-yards out to stun Vicarage Road and give the
Spurs a slender advantage that the hosts were not able to overturn.
Arsene Wenger made it clear that poor officiating has taken its toll on Arsenal's season but
admitted that his own defense was 'stupid' in conceding twice at Fulham last night.
The Gunners were leading 1-0 through Laurent Koscielny's early goal but a disappointing second
half performance allowed their opponents to bounce right back into the match.
This shot of Andre Villas-Boas subtly reminds us of a similar pose
Dunga held two years ago when Brazil were losing to the
Netherlands en route to the World Cup semi-finals! It's one that screams
"Estou desesperada!" (I'm desperate!) .
Clint Dempsey and Fulham headlined another day of National Teamers in action in England's Premier
League. Fulham beat Arsenal 2-1 at Craven Cottage, the latest in a series of games where elite
clubs have stumbled. Arsenal led from the 21st minute, but were reduced to ten men when Johan
Djourou was sent off in the 78th.

What a wonderful night of football yesterday was, if only for the one game which mattered.
Nicklas Bendtner did us no favour as he squandered an early chance to put his team ahead but
Sunderland won it right at the death to beat Roberto Mancini's Manchester City.
Don't look now, but Fulham are tied with Wolves for the most yellow cards in the league (37). We
had 52 yellow cards all of last season, 46 in 2009-10, and 40 in 2008-09.
Brede Hangeland, Chris Baird, Danny Murphy, Moussa Dembele, and Steve Sidwell all have 4 yellow
cards. Mark Schwarzer has one.
Arseblog has teamed up with Thomas Cook Sport, official travel partner of Arsenal, to provide
two pairs of tickets for this Saturday's game against Fulham.

Wigan Athletic 0-2 Fulham Premier League October 2011
It's now eight league defeats in a row for Wigan Athletic after Roberto Martinez' side went down
2-0 at home to Fulham.
Despite dominating for large periods of the game, the home side couldn't find a way past Fulham
'keeper Mark Schwarzer, with striker Hugo Rodallega continuing his worrying goul drought.

Yikes. A horror show from Fulham, the sort of performance that really causes fans to question
the team's direction, second league game of the season or otherwise. Wolves are a handy side, of
course, and were at home, but we'd expect to have given them more of a game. We'd expect to not
play so carelessly, so.
With distance comes perspective, and from the very back of the Putney End the view was... well
what was it? Despite my best efforts the game entirely passed me by.  There they were, 22 men
in white and sky blue, back and forth, up and down, then we all went home after an hour and a half
of watching them run about.
All the misery seems misplaced now. Central midfield problem? Not when the back-up back-up plan can run a game against decent opposition. Chris Baird and his messier partner, Steve Sidwell, proved once again that at a stable club no single player is indispensible, no five players even. We can lament the mislaying of Dempsey, Dembele, Murphy, Etuhu and all the other stalwarts of days of yore, but there is much to be excited about, too.

With the exception of a forced change here or there, it would not be a stretch to say Martin Jol
has settled on HIS lineup as of late.
And, its interesting to note the name and age of the lineup. Especially when looking at the
players who are not playing.
Below are all the players and their ages that saw at list 1 minute of playing time in the last
five matches:
David Stockdale 26 Brede Hangeland 30 Philippe Senderos 26 John Arne Riise 30 Stephen Kelly 27
Danny Murphy 34 Steve Sidwell 28 Damien Duff 32 Simon Davies 31 Clint Dempsey 28 Bryan Ruiz 25 Mark
Schwarzer 38 Chris Baird 29 Stephen Kelly 27 Dickson Etuhu 29 Moussa Dembele 24 Marcel Gecov 23
Aaron Hughes 31 Pavel Pogrebnyak 28 Andy Johnson 31 Mahamadou Diarra 30 Kerim Frei 18
When crunching the numbers, our squad age in this span comes out to be:
One of the worst first half performances in memory. Newcastle were very impressive, well
drilled, pressurising perfectly, timing their confrontations and ganging up on our players
relentlessly. We couldn't keep the ball. They could, spraying it around and running us
ragged.
The signing of Ruiz gives us an extraoardinary array of attacking talent. It means we can field
a combination of Zamora, Duff, Dempsey, Dembele and Ruiz, which you'd hope would suffice for our
needs. They can't all play, but even if we see three or four of them, their attacking instincts
need to be covered by someone to defend.
The new 2011/12 Premier League season is finally here! It's the battle of the new managers at
Craven Cottage today, although Martin Jol does have several competitive games under his belt in the
Europa League.
Here are the confirmed line-ups for both sides:
Fulham Aston Villa 1 Mark Schwarzer 1 Shay Given 18 Aaron Hughes 2 Luke Young 14 Philippe Senderos
6 James Collins 5 Brede Hangeland 5 Richard Dunne 7 John Arne Riise 3 Stephen Warnock 16 Damien
Duff 10 Charles N'Zogbia 20 Dickson Etuhu 16 Fabian Delph 13 Danny Murphy 19 Stiliyan Petrov 23
Clint Dempsey 18 Emile Heskey 8 Andrew Johnson 11 Gabriel Agbonlahor 25 Bobby Zamora 9 Darren Bent
Subs Subs 38 Neil Etheridge 22 Brad Guzan 2 Stephen Kelly 21 Ciaran Clark 6 Chris Baird 7 Stephen
Ireland 28 Matthew Briggs 17 Jean II Makoun 4 Steve Sidwell 12 Marc Albrighton 10 Pajtim Kasami 25
Barry Bannan 30 Moussa Dembele 14 Nathan Delfouneso Probable Formation: Castrol Football Prediction

Didier Drogba was voted the Chelsea's greatest ever player in an online poll conducted by Chelsea Magazine and this week he collected his award. Beating out club legends like Peter "The King of Stamford Bridge" Osgood, Chopper Harris, Gianfranco Zola, Bobby Tambling, John Terry and Frank Lampard, Drogba said that he felt the honor was perhaps "too big" for him.
