In addition to FOX Soccer bidding us goodbye today after 15 years of Premier League coverage, it was the final day for ESPN's Ian Darke and Steve McManaman bringing us their Premier League matches.
Here's a video they did to say goodbye, which includes funny outtakes.
Darke and Macca will continue on at ESPN but will also work for BT Sport.
Interesting day with the first two Group C matches. Italy took the lead against defending
champions Spain in the 2nd half, but Silva slipped Cesc through for an equalizer just a few minutes
later; it ended 1-1, though both sides had win. Â Later, Croatia unlocked Trappatoni's Irish
catenaccio, winning 3-1.
Earlier this afternoon, spaced out considerably into a half hour meeting of people in suits, the
Champions League group stage draw took place in Monaco. The buildup was understandly rowdy, with
several people extracting pens from suit pockets and others still shifting in their seats. The
agenda got underway through the explanation of the rules, mainly who country representatives can
allowed to play.
As I'm sure every Liverpool fan remembers, Steven Gerrard almost became a Chelsea player on two
separate occasions during the mid-2000s. Thankfully, he decided to stay at Anfield, but almost 7
years later, Gerrard still hasn't won what he desires the most: the league title.
Time is running out for Liverpool's captain, and former Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers
midfielder Robbie Savage believes that Gerrard must leave Anfield if he is to achieve that
goal:
"I'm sure Gerrard doesn't regret turning down Chelsea and Real Madrid in summer 2005 to stay with
Liverpool.
By this point trips to Wembley had become the standard for Liverpool, and they headed south for
another final just three years after they defeated Everton. This time they would face Sunderland,
who were the first second division side in ten years to feature in an FA Cup Final. Liverpool were
the more talented and successful side, but the Northeast club had done their share of impressing
along the way to Wembley.
Former Liverpool star Steve McManaman has criticized Kop boss Kenny Dalglish's selection policy,
after they slumped to a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Fulham.
The result marked the 14th time that Liverpool have failed to win at Anfield, and McManaman
questioned Dalglish's decision to rest players ahead of the FA Cup final against Chelsea on
Saturday.
The rampant success of the early 1980s gave way to a fairly quiet decade for Liverpool in the
League Cup, with the 1-2 result against Arsenal in 1987 their only appearance in a final of a
competition they'd dominated. They weren't entirely starved of silverware just yet FA Cup trophies
began arriving regularly almost immediately after League Cup success dissipated but with title
challenges in league slowly fading, the chance to re-capture a trophy they'd previously been so
familiar with was an exciting prospect.
Pass. "Why are we discussing a handshake?!?" -- Steve McManaman (paraphrased on ESPN2) Mercifully,
as I sit down at my laptop Sunday morning the tiresome, Patrice Evra/Luis Suarez incident might
finally be behind us, of course, until the clubs meet again next season. About 24 hours after the
Uruguayan lightning rod snubbed the outstretched hand of the former French captain, he issued an

Liverpool legend Steve McManaman has leapt to the defence of beleaguered striker Andy Carroll,
arguing that the goal-shy forward can do what Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo did at Man
United, which is triumph over unwarranted early criticism Carroll has scored only 3 goals in his
last 24 games for Liverpool, and he's currently in the midst of a barren spell that has lasted 10
games now.
Steve McManaman has backed Steven Gerrard to set Liverpool striker Andy Carroll on the path to
becoming a "number nine superstar".
Carroll has scored just five goals in 30 appearances since his £35million switch from Newcastle
and this season he has appeared bereft of confidence.
But former Anfield favourite McManaman believes Gerrard, who is back in action after an
injury-dogged 2011, has the quality to bring the best out of Carroll.

Lots of former Liverpool players have entered the stressful world of football management over the
years, but Steve McManaman is not one of them, and judging by his latest comments, it doesn't look
like he'll be following the likes of Robbie Fowler and Dietmar Hamann into the dugout any time
soon.

Kenny Dalglish is hoping to maintain a proud record when he takes Liverpool to Stamford Bridge on
Sunday.
The Scot has never lost to Chelsea as Liverpool manager in any competition - winning eight and
drawing three of the 11 meetings.
Here are the rest of the facts and figures ahead of the big game from club statto Ged Rea.
Back in the nineties teams would travel to Anfield with one plan in mind: that of stopping Steve
McManaman. The thinking was that if they managed this then they were well on their way to getting
something out of the game. It wasn't a tactic that worked as much as its reputation suggested yet
it worked often enough for it to continue being used.

Time to lighten the mood. Given that Marc Albrighton notched the Premier League's 20,000th goal
last night, it seemed only right to put together a little video compendium of ten of the best most
hideously ugly goals ever to have been scored over the course of these 19-and-a-half glorious
seasons.
Footballers and the continued connection to horse racing - originally posted on

Ownership of a horse is a sign of wealth and affluence, with modern day footballers some of the
richest people in sporting circles both in the United Kingdom and further afield.
With the money attached to horse racing and betting, leading figures in football stand to make
more money than their already inflated wages.
It's a precarious and inexact science is football. The lines are so often wafer thin between
glory and disaster. I'm talking Steve Mcmanaman's forearms thin. A succession of delicious injury
time winners has everyone cock a hoop in the Goonerverse at the time of writing. With Tottenham's
ten point advantage whittled down to one point, fingers are pointing towards our erstwhile
neighbours with accompanying laughter at their premature "mind the gap" assertions.

Cardiff it will be their first trophy since the FA cup win over West Ham in 2006.
Birth certificates don't serve much of a purpose these days. Everybody has one and after they're
put away in the bedroom drawer they're not really needed until you start dealing with government
bureaucrats years later. But when Thierry Henry's the subject of conversation everybody's suddenly
interested in his birth date, which was Aug.
