For a long while there, Stephen Appiah was an international footballer only. The midfielder has
not played a kick of club soccer since late 2007, but still managed to captain Ghana through a
successful World Cup 2010 qualification campaign. Which is ridiculously impressive when you think
about it.

Oguchi Onyewu went into this summer a free agent and hoped to put together a strong
Confederations Cup performance to draw some potential suitors for his services. It appears he has
found a taker, though not one from the leagues we might have expected him to go to.
According to Sky Sports, Onyewu has signed a three-year deal with Turkish club Fenerbahce,
choosing to pass on the possibility of signing with Birmingham City after talks stalled with the
English club.

As the dust slowly settles on another season, transfer season is once more upon us. No doubt
we will be linked with over 100 players this summer, most of them are players who are looking for a
new contract, like Wolfsburg Brazilian midfielder Josue, others will be a host of young up and
coming French boys and some will be the normal suspects, Yaya Toure, Stephen Appiah, Gareth
Barry.

All season long it seems like all of us have been looking back while Arsene Wenger, the
iconoclast, refused to look into the past and instead steadily gazed into the future. In our
obsession with the past, Wenger recons we got this season wrong and once again I find myself
realizing that the teacher may have been right all along.

Believe it or not, back at the start of the transfer window most of the talk at the Lane was
whether or not Stewart One-Trick Downing would dip his right shoulder, dart out to the left and

So remember those rumors about Stephen Appiah coming to town? From the horse's mouth . . . "I
have truly not heard this particular rumour about the MLS. I have been linked to all the clubs in
the world but this one makes me laugh very loud," Appiah told Ghanasoccernet. "I am 28
today and I have a lot to offer for top European clubs and that's where I will plan to continue my
career.

Seriously? Apparently, yes. If you don't know who Stephen Appiah is, you aren't paying close
attention. He's not Beckham or Blanco, but he's a player that excels internationally, and has a
good club record. Oh, also, he's now being courted by AC Milan. The issue appears to be that
Gallardo won't leave, even if [.

looking to ink a short-term replacement for the Ghanaian dynamo. A few names are being mentioned.
The first is Essien's teammate with Ghana, 27-year-old free agent Stephen Appiah.

There is nothing to write about! This is the longest international week I think in history. The
leading story on Arsenal.com is ANOTHER story about Amaury Bischoff. I can't even be bothered to
watch that. Only four days to go until we finally play again. Then I can go back to being sane, at
least until we have another bad performance which will drive me insane, but that's a good insane.

Stephen Appiah is available on a free transfer and I would be quite happy for Le Boss to sign him
to Arsenal.
I suggest giving him a year long pay-as-you-play deal. People have said that his knees are shot but
didn't people also say that about Marc Overmars before he signed?
By giving him a deal like this deal we have nothing to lose.
