Order returned to the Scottish Communities League Cup last night with six SPL clubs beating lower league opposition.
Not a cakewalk for them all - Inverness needed penalties to get past Stenhousemuir, St Mirren waited until stoppage time to get the winner against Hamilton - and their efforts appear to have been met with a wave of apathy.
While the rest of the UK is still fannying around in meaningless friendlies, up in Scotland the
season has started for the clubs in the Scottish Football league, as this years Alba Challenge Cup
kicked off.
Three days of Scottish Cup action to look forward to. Much talk of "cupsets" but probably not many
actual upsets. And, I'd wager, a mention or two for Berwick Rangers, the most famous of Davids in
Scottish football's gallery of Goliath-slayers.
Pitch inspections at a few of these games and snow falling as I write so things could be subject to
change.
So Dunfermline, somewhat against the odds, manage to salvage their Scottish Cup campaign as their
expulsion from the competition is successfully overturned on appeal. A replay and a massive fine
are the end result, one which, given the circumstances, is probably the correct one. For
Dunfermline, preparations for the replay can begin but the club must [.
Browsing through the various football sites today, waiting for the SFA to decide just what the hell
to do about the whole Dunfermline fiasco, it struck us that this seems to be a good time to be a
lawyer with a healthy business in Scottish football litigation. I don't know much about the law,
but I [.
Did you know that in Switzerland it is illegal to flush the toilet after 10 PM? Or that in
Thailand, it is illegal to leave your house without wearing underwear? In Los Angeles, a man can
legally beat his wife with a leather belt or strap, but the belt can't be wider than 2 inches,
[...]
With the fourth round of the Scottish Cup taking place this weekend it was always going to be a
quiet time in Scottish football. But thanks to the weather, it's going to be even quieter. Unless
you're East Fife's lawyer.. We where disturbed to hear this week of the SFA's cunning plan to keep
competition in [.
Inside Left highlights the four games in this weekends Scottish fixture card that you need to keep

bottom-of-the-table clash in Granton, a mid-table affair in the First division and lastly, the pick
of the Scottish Cup games taking place [.

Today's final game of the 2008-09 Scottish season is the The Homecoming Scottish Cup Final
between Rangers and Falkirk at Hampden Park.
Rangers are chasing their 33rd Scottish Cup victory, which would put them one behind Celtic's
record 34, and Falkirk are after their third.
Rangers are also after an 18th domestic double, their 110th domestic trophy, while also trying
to retain the cup they won last year by beating Queen of the South.

The weather may have gotten the better of the Scottish Cup games at Forfar, Brechin and Inverurie,
but there was plenty of action in the other fixtures taking place. We round up the Scottish Cup
action with the reports from the various club sites (where possible) and some nice pictures.
Travelling back home through Gatwick last night, I quickly checked the football scores before
switching off the phone for the flight. At the time, Rangers where winning 1-0 against St Mirren
and Celtic where 1-0 up against Hibs. Nothing unusual in that I thought, but as an illustration of
the fragility of the Old Firm this [.
In a remarkable weekend of Scottish fitba in which the league leaders across the four divisions of
Scottish football either saved or dropped valuable points in injury time, Inside Left comes out
smelling of roses, as the predictions we made on Friday turn out to be almost correct. I was
actually a minute or so away [.
In another action-packed weekend of Scottish football, Aberdeen fail to capitalise on last week's
epic win against Rangers, Hamilton record a rare win but a tunnel fracas after their game with
Hearts will keep the SFA busy this week. And it's a sign that all is not well in Scottish football
when only 16 goals [.

There's a pretty busy four days of football coming up in Scotland. The fourth round of the Scottish
Cup takes place between Saturday and Tuesday and, as well as all that, there's some domestic league
action down in the Second and Third divisions too. Up in the Highland League there are five games
scheduled but, like all of the games planned, whether any or all of these go ahead depends very
much on the weather.
