Why Craig Bellamy will flourish at Liverpool and Steed brought perspective to crazy
week
Craig Bellamy is not easily impressed. The Welsh international is a dangerous man with a seven
iron and a sense of injustice. Fortunately, he has found someone, something, in which to
believe.
Five years ago today I watched Fulham get trounced 5-1 by Manchester United. I was in the
Castle Pub, Tooting, and, well, you can read what I thought here.
That was the first post on Craven Cottage Newsround. Hade (who had worked out the five year
thing as we were making dinner tonight) and I had been on holiday in Prague to celebrate her 30th
and while out there I decided to start writing.
It's late and I should be off to bed. I'm going down to the Isle of Wight tomorrow with my boys
and we've got an early-ish start. But if I don't post now it's going to be another week missed and
for now I'm keen to maintain the one post a week schedule. Also one of my favourite former Fulham
players is in the news this week.
Opta's stats highlight Charlie Adam's impact, foul play by Kevin Davies and why you should let
Steed Malbranque shoot.
"All referees are good, and all are bad. A referee only needs to make one mistake, or an assumed
mistake, against a club and if he lives till he is a hundred he never gets over it."
So said Charles Sutcliffe, former referee and president of the Football League, d. 1939.
Yep, 1939. And you thought your contempt for officials was all modern and shit.
Apparently when I make fun of an Arsenal player by saying he has a funny celebration face, I'm a
terrible, terrible human being. I made this just to show that I'm not.
Here is Andrei Arshavin, The White Knight of Arsenal, using his patented "Two Goals At Once"
trick, riding atop his trusty Unicorn steed 'Belyh Faksov', while wielding a lightsaber.
