When did Creepy Jose become a fanboi douchebag?

The Fake Sigi Schmid Blog 05 November @ 01:00 PM EST
I turn my back for one minute and Creepy Jose Romero turns into a 14-year-old dick. On Houston selling lots of tickets for the weekend:
No Sounders FC practice today, but thanks to the Dynamo press crew that really does a nice job, I've learned that Houston's home field is down to upper level end zone and sideline seats.

Soccer Statistics 07 September @ 10:00 AM EST
An interesting article about distance covered per game in the EPL from 2006.
In 2005/06, the average EPL midfielder ran 11.49 kilometres per game. The average EPL centre-back covered 9.96 kilometres per game.
From the article, "the average distance covered by players in matches has changed little [between 2002 and 2006] but the amount done at top speed has almost doubled. Click to continue reading...

Quarter Volley 11 May @ 03:08 PM EST

I did not get to see a minute of the DC United match on Saturday. Instead of our usual recapping here, it's time for the first installment this year of MLS Statistical Analysis. Here's the data we're working with, organized alphabetically by team (click to enlarge):

Welcome to the House of Soccer 03 September @ 11:20 PM EST
In my never-ending quest for quality entertainment, I recently discovered that MLS has put out a new DVD for me to add to my collection. It's called "Gamebreakers: The Stars of Major League Soccer", and it allows me, the viewer to, "(c)elebrate the exhilarating action of the world-class stars of Major League Soccer with a high-energy look at clutch, game-winning moments steeled in the red-hot forge of the beautiful game. Top Player Performances: Week 1

Soccer Statistics 17 August @ 12:45 PM EST
Something funny to start our post. For this, we'll go to Nicolai V. Gogol and his story, Ivan Fyodorovich and His Aunt. The setting: how will a newcomer recognize Stepan Ivanovich? "You will recognize him at once for he is the only one to wear printed cotton trousers and a yellow cotton coat. And here is another sign by which you may recognize him: when he walks he always waves his arms about. Click to continue reading...

Euro 2008 Project

Soccer Statistics 08 June @ 08:32 AM EST
Since Euro 2008 only has 31 matches, I have started to record what the winning teams do well (Charting the Premiership games would probably be more telling, but I'm not going to spend the time working on that - especially since some sites no longer even show match stats from the beginning of the season). Wages and On-Pitch Performance

Soccer Statistics 29 May @ 05:48 AM EST
Deloitte has just published its 2007 football finance review. One area of focus in this study was premier league wages and the correlation between wages and on-pitch performance. A conclusion many are drawing from this report: the correlation between wages and on-pitch performance is weaker outside those clubs in the top four, and the relegation zone (see the Daily Telegraph for elaboration).
