Over the years football fans have found many things to jibe Manchester United about supposed 'glory hunter' fans and 'Fergie time' for starters. But sitting atop the list is the mocking of Old Trafford's meek atmosphere despite their enormous 76,000-seater capacity. With sections of the crowd claiming they are screaming their hearts out at [.
The transfer window has shut, and as many suspected, we were largely inactive in the final few
days, managing only to shift Bendtner and Park out on loan, trimming players from the wage bill who
did not feature in our plans for the season ahead. Since then, there has been quite the reaction,
with many dismayed at the lack of arrivals, particularly following the departure of Alex Song.
It's been more than eight years since the U.S. MNT took the field inside the picturesque confines
of National Stadium, and it was quite the thriller. Grouped together along with Panama and El
Salvador, the teams squared off Aug. 18, 2004 in the first game of the semifinal round. The
Reggae Boyz snatched the lead off a goal from Iam Goodison - off an assist from current
Jamaica coach Theodore Whitmore - and seemed to be heading towards their first ever win against the
U.
The Los Angeles Galaxy kick off their quest for a Champions League title when they take on El
Salvador side Isidro Metapan at Home Depot Center tonight in CONCACAF Champions League action
(10pm, FOX Soccer Channel).
The Galaxy will be without Landon Donovan tonight, but will be fielding all the rest of their
starters against Metapan, which opened group play with a 3-1 victory against the Puerto Rico
Islanders.
By Charles Boehm - WASHINGTON, DC (Sep 6, 2012) US Soccer Players -- Amid wins and losses, new
coaching regimes, and any number of other changes to the US National Team over the past
half-decade, goalkeeper Tim Howard remains a constant. A remarkably consistent touchstone for his
team, Howard is one of coach Jurgen Klinsmann's few unquestioned starters at this early stage in
2014 World Cup qualifying.
The U.S. Men's National Team takes on arch-rival Mexico tonight at Estadio Azteca, and the U.S.
will be looking to become the first Americans to beat 'El Tri' on Mexican soil when the square off
in a rare friendly in Mexico City (8pm, ESPN2).
The Americans will be trying to snap a four-match winless streak against Mexico, a streak that
began with a 2-1 loss at Azteca in 2009 during World Cup qualifying.
It is the U.S. men's national team's house of horrors, one of the more daunting places to play
around the world. And it looms Wednesday night.Â
The U.S. men's national team has never won at the storied Estadio Azteca, and despite bringing a
less-than-full-strength squad to Mexico City for Wednesday night's friendly against El Tri, the
challenge remains the same: Finally put a "1" in the "W" part of the W-L-T column that current
reads 0-8-1 all-time at Azteca, 0-19-1 all-time in Mexico City and 0-23-1 all-time on Mexican
soil.
When the U.S. Men's National Team takes the field at Estadio Azteca on Wednesday night, they
will be facing arch-rival Mexico with a squad that will look far different from what most would
consider an A team.
There is no Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley, Carlos Bocanegra, Steve Cherundolo or Jozy Altidore,
which means Jurgen Klinsmann will have to rely on some new faces to try and help the USA earn a
result in Mexico City, a place the United States has never won a match.
This is not a prediction of who Coach Klinsi will summon for the Jamaica doubleheader in just a
couple hours, it's who I would call. G - Howard, GuzanD - Cherundolo, Parkhurst, Goodson,
Bocanegra, Lichaj, Castillo D/M -Â Cameron, SpectorM - Edu, Jones, Diskerud, Kljestan, Feilhaber,
Dempsey, DavisA - Altidore, Boyd, Wondolowski, Johnson, Shea, Gatt -- A few notes: - Starters in
boldface.
This week I was fortunate to be able to get in contact with Daniel Robertson of Big D Soccer to
discuss the upcoming game and FC Dallas. We asked three questions of the other person about the
team they cover and even added a bonus question.
Questions for Big D Soccer:
FC Dallas and The Portland Timbers have had their fair share of 2012
woes is there a specific reason for Dallas' struggles this year?
It seems funny to think about it now, but not that long ago there was some serious concerns
about the Seattle Sounders' offense and their supposed lack of depth. Funny how a couple moves,
along with some key players returning to health, can change perceptions.
The Sounders now sit on 65 goals scored through 34 competitive matches following their
second-three goal performance in CONCACAF Champions League play.
Seattle Sounders FC (10-6-7) vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC (10-7-7) William Schulz: Playing two matches on the road made last week was a rough one for the folks
in Seattle. Losing a cup final followed by a last-minute loss to the nigh-unstoppable Earthquakes.
Despite what some people on some local radio stations may think, Kansas City has their biggest game
since the 2004 MLS Cup on Wednesday when they play the Seattle Sounders in the US Open Cup final.
Before that though, Kansas City has a league game tomorrow against the New England Revolution. This
is the third and final meeting between the two teams with Kansas City leading the series so far
this year with a 1-0-1 with a +3 goal difference from the home opener.

________________________________________________________________________________ Some 300 Days since the alleged incident.
Oh, is it that time of the year already? The football clubs of the Premier League are
making their preparations for the start of the new football season and this means, of course, the
release of their new kits. So, in the first of a two-parter what he thinks the kits of all Premier
League football clubs should look like will follow here's Ted Carter with his review
(and a league table!
I'm Sorry, You Were Saying Something About My Substitution Strategy?Last Saturday saw the
lowly Portland Timbers visit Red Bull Arena for a match that was highly anticipated by many Red
Bull fans who had to endure a horrible performance at Houston and a not-entirely-convincing win at
home against the same team in previous weeks.
With the exception of the March 10th loss against Sporting Kansas City, the Revs have not lost
any game this season by more than 1 goal. And I used to find a least a little solace in that fact.
But it's not really doing it for me anymore. Losses are losses and ours are really piling up
now.
* The message boards and gossip watchers are buzzing after Lecturas first published [Ed. Note:
hellow - always the rumour starters] "news" of a new couple: Barcelona defender, Dani Alves, and
supermodel, Bar Rafaeli. After they allegedly met at a party he bombarded her with texts until she
agreed to go out with him.
As Lecturas first reported [Ed. Note: hellow - always the rumour starters], Bar the supermodel was
not after Gerard Pique or Cesc Fabregas as people first assumed about her random attendance at
Barcelona matches. While some gossipers still think there's a connection to be made between her and
Pique (some argue they had a fling [.
This post goes out to all the REAL MADRID CF fans & readers. Couple of days back I posted a FC
Barcelona team photo taken at one of their recent friendly warm-up matches, & to "even things up" Â
today I post a Real Madrid team photo from one of their last friendly matches. Take note that
some players are missing & they are most likely to be starters, e.
Here's the official announcement, the Rapids get a conditional draft pick from Chicago in exchange
for Wells Thompson.
There's a good deal of consternation in the on-line Rapids fanbase about wells asking to be traded
to find playing time, but it doesn't bother me. Look at what's happened this season:
*Wells was on pace for 727 minutes this year, his lowest season total of his career.
The U.S. team and the high school players from Sacred Heart in Tokyo
Today was a day off from training for the U.S. U-20 WNT, following a rhythm the team has been
undertaking for most of the tournament: Game, then the next day is recovery for starters, training
for the reserves, and the next day is off for everyone, followed by the whole team training for a
short period on the day before the game.
Only the U.S. reserves trained today while the starters did a pool workout back at the hotel. The
USA had to travel about 50 minutes to its training field, and while the bus ride was a bit long, it
afforded the team a great tour of Tokyo and an understanding about just how vast this city is.
The U.S. U-20 WNT on its way to Sendai, Japan in the Miyagi prefecture
The U.S. U-20 WNT said goodbye to Hiroshima this morning and traveled to Sendai to set up camp to
prepare for its Group D finale against Germany on Aug. 27 at Miyagi Stadium.
Sam Mewis and Cari Roccaro crack the lap tops to get some homework done at the airport
The travel day couldn't have been smoother and once again Japan proved that when it comes to
organization, no country is better.
University of Wisconsin women's soccer coach Paula Wilkins is excited about her
team's mix of experience and youth this fall, and apparently her fellow Big Ten Conference coaches
agree.
The Badgers were picked to finish fourth in the conference in the annual preseason coaches'
poll, despite losing six starters from last year's team.
Sounders Reserves Back In Action With Zakuani at Captain
Here's a link to the liveblog of the game from the mothership. Starters: Ford; Seamon, Hurtado,
Steres, Gonzales; Cato, Carrasco, Ayala, Tetteh; Zakuani, Dismuke.
That was more like it, a much more reassuring friendly than the three in the USA. Which may have
had something to do with the stronger XI, not all that different from the one which faced Gomel on
Thursday. It was far stronger than expected, with Gerrard, Suarez, and Lucas all surprise starters.
it's a pretty quiet Sunday so a very quick round-up ahead of our final game before the new
season kicks off in less than a week's time (hold me). Again, this is just a pre-season game so
conditioning and fitness are paramount, but it's also the first (and last) chance the manager has
to use his new players and give them some match practice before Sunderland.
Left back Jair Benitez and central midfielder Andrew Jacobson both didn't train for FC Dallas on
Thursday morning, but according to FCD gaffer Schellas Hyndman this is hardly cause for concern as
both starters picked up small knocks in Saturday's 1-0 loss to Los Angeles and were held out of
training as a precautionary measure heading into Sunday's road match at Portland.
The U.S. women's national team has never failed to reach a gold medal game at the Olympics, and
with the way things are set up, it would be quite the stunner if they failed to do so this time
around.
The bracket has unfolded quite favorably for the U.S. women, who took gold in 1996, 2004 and
2008 and settled for silver in 2000 after falling to Norway in the final.
