Liverpool is leading the chase to sign Udinese defender Mauricio Isla.
Isla, 23, has been impressive for the Italian club and has caught the eye of Liverpool boss Kenny
Dalglish, who is looking to strengthen his squad in January.
The Chile international has also been linked with several big clubs in Italy but reports in South
America suggest that Liverpool is winning the race to clinch his signature.
Bad news comes for the USWNT as star defender Ali Krieger will be sidelined for 6-8 months with
tears in both her ACL and MCL. The injury occurred during the the first half the teams landslide
victory against the Dominican Republic. After taking a shot on goal, Krieger was kicked hard in the
knee when a DR player was trying to make a tackle.

Although the winter transfer market is still far away, Tottenham Hotspurs have already set one
of their main transfer target in January, which is Bolton Wanderers' star defender, Gary Cahill,

Chivas USA are looking to qualify for the playoffs, but they'll have to be without their star

With concerns growing over the extended absence of Arsenal center-half Thomas Vermaelen, manager
Arsene Wenger provided the most recent update over the Belgian international's status in an
interview with the club's official website.
When asked whether Vermaelen had undergone a surgery to treat his injured plantaris tendon,
Wenger stated that the treatment had not been all that serious.
