Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo struck within eight first half minutes to guide Spanish
champions Real Madrid to a famous Super Cup win on away goals.
Copa Del Rey holders Barcelona came into Wednesday's second leg holding a 3-2 advantage from the
first leg at Camp Nou, but their lead quickly turned into deficit at the Bernabeu.

Last night's game against Chelsea FC was sold as a celebration of soccer. And it sure felt like
it. With the pressure off, the Sounders' offense showed the same spark against Chelsea that they
have when they have been at their best this season. Fredy Montero scored two very well-taken goals,
showing a striker's determination to get on the score sheet.
Manchester City 4-0 West Bromwich Albion Premier League 11th April 2012
A rather decent win for City at the Etihad here, with a chunky Carlos Tevez starting his first
game in yonks and even managing to get on the scoresheet.

And given that Liverpool in some ways now represents the "English" hope as the home country

Following a frustrating season at Anfield in which the midfielder struggled to make an impact, the

Liverpool 2-1 Wolves | Premier League match report
His achievements have given Kenny Dalglish a line of credit not available to the likes of UBS or
Northern Rock. He could have survived an early exit from the Carling Cup and a home defeat by
Wolverhampton Wanderers, which so bankrupted Roy Hodgson's regime.
In a follow up to the news that came out last night regarding Lance Armstrong and him giving up his
battle against the USADA, Sporting's CEO, Robb Heineman made a statement today.
Here is Robb's statement: "The naming rights partnership between our stadium and LIVESTRONG
provides an opportunity to spread health and wellness messages that emphasizes the spirit of cancer
survivorship.
Honduras may be leaving the Olympics today after their 3-2 loss to Brazil in the quarterfinals of
the soccer tournament, but they'll leave with their heads high, especially Roger Espinoza. Espinoza
had an amazing game and earned himself a standing ovation from the neutral crowd at St. James' Park
after he got sent off for his second yellow card in second half stoppage time.
After nearly 20 years of service to Athletic Bilbao (he started his youth
career with Los Leones in 1996), modern-day football's answer to "The

While the global footy community is full of hot and heavy, high profile relationships, not all
of them are as wonderful and easy going for us to cover as Xabi and Nagore's is.
After our 2-0* win against PAOK earlier in the week (it feels like ages since we beat them), its
come down to a match-up between PAO and AEK to decide who will be Greece's second team to attempt
to make their mark in the Champions League. Thanks to Chelsea's win against Bayern in the final
today, whichever team goes on to win the playoffs will be placed in the stronger group for
qualifying matches and will play against lower seeded teams (definitely good news!
The Champions League returns alongside the best footy-loving bride ever.
The Champions League is back, but what happened in the past week? Liverpool lost to Wigan at

Owen Hargreaves backed for England return Manchester City | Mail Online.
Over at The Etihad Stadium tonight, one of the feel good stories of the season emerged
as former Manchester United and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves scored his first goal for his
new club Manchester City in their League Cup tie against Birmingham City.
Chelsea trundled past Bayer Leverkusen with minimum fuss to get their Champions League campaign
off to a winning start at Stamford Bridge last night.
Both teams also saw a goal apiece ruled out over the course of the evening, Chelsea for offside
and Leverkusen for a somewhat dubious tug as Simon Rofles nodded in a corner at the far post not
that it really mattered in the long run.
What a bittersweet final day for Juve fans as their side got to lift the Scudetto and beat
Atalanta, 3-1 in the season's last match. It was also the last day for Alessandro Del Piero, their
talismanic striker, who spent almost his entire career at the Old Lady, spanning 19 years.
Del Piero made 704 appearances and scored 298 goals becoming the club's top scorer.
Six weeks after collapsing and actually dying for 78 minutes, Fab Muamba was back on the pitch
at the Reebok Stadium last night, entering to a standing ovation and thanking the fans for their
support during his convalescence from a cardiac arrest.
The stage was set after 68 minutes of frustrating football with Arsenal brought to a standstill
by a Leeds Utd team that parked the bus. The moment everyone was waiting for with bated breath.
Number 12 strode in to a standing ovation - Thierry Henry had arrived home to a flood of good time
memories.
In which, during Bayern Munich's mid-season friendly against Al-Wakrah in Qatar last Saturday,
Franck Ribery struggles to shrug off a bit of (very) close attention from Nayef al-Khater and ends
up giving the defender a piggyback down the touchline much to the delight of Al-Wakrah coach Adnan
Dirjal, who gave the pair a standing ovation.
Liverpool striker Andy Carroll admits he has had a disappointing campaign but has thanked manager
Kenny Dalglish for sticking by him.
The England international has scored just nine goals this term in 47 appearances for the Reds, but
he has bagged three in his last six games.
And whilst Carroll admits he has not been happy with his form, he is pleased with how Dalglish and
the club's fans have stood by him.
The 19th minute today at Villa Park was special. There were no goals scored, nor were there any
red cards given. No, the 19th minute comprised of 60 raw seconds commemorating an excellent career,
and an urge to keep fighting. You see, on Friday Aston Villa's captain and #19, Stylian "Stan"
Petrov, was diagnosed with acute leukemia, and will retire from the game he loves in an effort to
defeat this to defeat this cancer.
Roger Espinoza's Olympic performance for Honduras is still lingering in the front offices of
clubs in England, and it appears as if one is eager to pry him away from Sporting Kansas City prior
to the close of the European summer transfer window.
According to reports from England, Premier League side Wigan Athletic is looking to make a move
for Espinoza, who is in the final year of his contract with Sporting KC and MLS.
One of the classiest footballers to ever wear a Juventus shirt (or any shirt) got the send-off
he deserved at his final home match. Juve finished off their undefeated season -- the first in a
38-match Serie A season, according to Paolo Bandini -- with a 3-1 win over Atalanta in which Del
Piero scored Juve's second goal.
If there is one thing we love in football, its a villain. Someone to hurl abuse at in such a
fashion that it would not be out of fashion at a Pantomime at the Hippodrome in Birmingham.
However, in pantomime we all know that anyone booing or hissing is merely in jest and by the end of
the evening the actors and actresses all are smiling away as they accept the standing ovation which
their performance (just about) deserves.
From almost out of the UEFA Champions League to topping Group E, it's been a crazy first
campaign for Chelsea manager Andres Villas-Boas.
Talks of crisis at Stamford Bridge seem to be dissipating after Chelsea routed Valencia 3-0 to
advance to the knockout round for the ninth consecutive season.

The end of the 2011 season is here. Chicago has been eliminated from the playoffs prior to their
last game of the year. This battle is reminiscent of last year's October 8th battle where a down
and out Fire squad dispatched a playoff bound Columbus team 2-0 at Toyota Park. Nothing but pride
is on the line tonight but that's still a big deal at the end of the day.
Top speech by Ed Balls (if a little troubled in the delivery possibly because of Ed's stutter). He
