Newly promoted Persidafon have become the ISL's whipping boys. Back to back thumpings, 5-0 at
Sriwijaya, 5-2 at Persiram, have left them 15th in the 18 team league with nine points from their
opening 11 games. Of concern to Sergei Dubrovin will be a defence that has leaked 30 goals in that
time; an ignominy they share with fellow Papuans Persiram.
It was a Papuan derby in South Jakarta. Persiram Raja Ampat don't have a stadium that meets ISL
standards so they have become a bit nomadic this season; this was their third home game at Lebak
Bulus while they have also used Surajaya Stadium in Lamongan.
At the weekend the ‘hosts' earned their first win of the season, defeating Deltras 3-1, a
result that had Deltras coach Jorg Steinbrunner fuming over what he saw as poor refereeing
decisions that cost him the match while Persidafon, up in Palembang, were trounced 5-0 by
Sriwijaya.
Olympic Qualifier
Bahrain v Malaysia 2-1 (;Hazwan Bakri) 2,000
Malaysia managed a late equaliser in Bahrain but the hosts, coached by former England manager Peter
Taylor, scored a couple of minutes later to earn the win. Heaps happening in the last few moments
with two yellows for the home team and a Malaysian seeing red in the 5th minute of injury time.
PSMS have sacked coach Raja Isa. It follows tales of dressing room unrest and unhappiness with
the Malaysian coach's training methods. Now far be it for me to go round making assumptions but
cast your mind back to Arema's title winning season and also the constant musical chairs in the
Persib hot seat last season.
Arema's torrid start to the season continued when they were beaten 2-0 by Persisam yesterday. Goals
from Christian Gonzales and ex Arema man Yongki Aribowo. Arema, ISL champions in 2009/2010, have
just one win all season and sit 16th in the table.
One place below Arema are newly promoted PSAP who have yet to win this season.

The AFC told the Indonesian Football Association the new season had to begin by a certain date or
they would lose the right to enter teams in continental football next season. So, amid much
ballyhoo, the Indonesia Premier League kicked off on 15 October when Persib hosted Semen
Padang.
A few more games were scheduled but never took place and the competition, fully one game old, went
into hibernation for the SEA Games, a period of six weeks.
It's the dream final for the SEA Games. A repeat of last year's ASEAN Cup, albeit at Under 23,
today's final between Indonesia and Malaysia will keep the organizers happy as fans queue to see
the two foes go head to head for local pride.
At least 88,000 are expected to fill the Bung Karno with the vast majority hoping to see the
local side win and the Malaysians humiliated.
The aging Hendro Kartiko has received a surprise recall to the Indonesian national team ahead of
their World Cup Qualifiers. Kartiko, now with newly promoted Mitra Kukar, is one of four keepers
named in the squad.
The others are I Made Wirawan (Persiba), Ferry Rotinsulu (Sriwijaya) and Samsidar (Semen Padang).
Keith Kayamba Gumbs has been at the heart of Sriwijaya's successes over recent years and his
consistent performances have seen him recalled to the St Kitts & Nevis national team for their
World Cup Qualifiers.
They play Canada home and away so as well as adding to his airmiles Kayamba will get to play some
football.
Greg Nwokolo has been one of the most highly sought after players this transfer window. The Persija
wideman has been impressive in his last two campaigns with the Kemayoran Tigers, with a spell in
Portugal sandwiched inbetween.
However given the uncertainty surrounding Persija ahead of the new season players have been jumping
ship all summer and Nwokolo is just the latest in a long line to move.
Simon McMenemy is to be confirmed as coach of Super League new boys Mitra Kukar. The former
Philippines national team who has also coached in Vietnam is expected to finalise everything today
before taking charge of the ambitious club from East Kalimantan.
Mitra Kukar have also signed Hamka Hamzah, Isnan Ali and Jajang Maulyana ahead of the new season
which starts next month.
It was only last December that pacy winger Oktavianus Maniani was being talked about as the great
new hope of Indonesian football along with Irfan Bachdim. The Sriwijaya winger was a bit of an
unknown and thrown against Malaysia and Laos in the AFF Cup he created an immediate impact and,
along with Bachdim and Riedl, helped make Indonesian football 'sexy' with the masses.
Nope, nothing to do with Ryan, Babel is an acronym for the island province of Bangka Belitung.
Flushed with the success of a local movie, Laskar Pelangi, the islands have become a popular
tourist destination for locals looking for a bit of peace and quiet basking in the glamour of
fame.
The Depati Amir Stadium in Pangkal Pinang normally hosts local amateur team Persipas but this
coming weekend will see the glamour of the Indonesia Super League descend with Deltras and
Sriwijaya from nearby Palembang competing with a Babel Stars for the inaugural Babel Cup.
Sriwijaya's best days were when their striker, Keith Kayamba, was paired alongside a prolific
strike partner, be it Christian Lenglolo or Claude Ngon Djan.
Without a reliable goal getter too much rested on the veteran and the team struggled to find any
consistency despite boasting a fine, experienced squad.
Jajang Maulyana was touted as one of Indonesia's next big things when he broke on to the scene in
Pelita Jaya's relatively successful 2007 season. He'd spent time on loan in Brazil and had created
an impact in then coach Fandi Ahmad's youthful, attack minded sided.
The Yong Eagles howver were not able to build on that impressive season and Jajang became in danger
of being known as a nearly man.

The Malaysia Super League has been closed to foreigners these last few seasons and while there are
rumours doors will open again next year nothing has yet been confirmed.
In the past Malaysia was seen as an attractive destination for Australians, Singaporeans and
Indonesians. Whether it will still be seen as attractive next year remains to be seen considering
the rumours of match fixing and unpaid salaries that surround the game there.
Sod it if you think I'm typing all that every time! This was MND v PKR and again while they were
a few hundred fans in the stadium for this 4 pm kick off there didn't appear to be any kind of fan
groups although a few kids were wearing PKR FC t shirts.
This was a much more even game than what had passed before with MND scoring early on.

with all three points. Persisam, PSPS and Persiba have each lost one home game while Pelita Jaya
have lost four and Bontang have lost five.

Ongisnade, the leading Arema fan site, is suggesting inspirational captain and skipper Pierre

The former Cameroon international, who was Jakarta Casual Player Of The Year 2010, could well spark
an exodus of biblical proportions if he does quit.
