Hands up who didn't see that coming? At about 20 minutes I said to Garantia this has 0-0 or 1-0
Sunderland written all over it. Maybe it's my current medical state which actively discourages
getting passionate about anything lest I fall on my arse even from a sitting position, but a defeat
such as this has not overly concerned me.

You can tell it is International fortnight can't you, Cesc goes off to join his fellow Spaniards
and the gutter press get themselves all excited. They know they can fire silly questions at our
captain and Barca players, then add whatever answer they want to the question and then print it, in
fact worse than that they ad a few " " either side of the rubbish they write!

In what seems to be a classic case of that old expression (translated here for the benefit of
all our readers) known as 'Keeping the Mouth', Wenger's masterstroke forward has been done in by
those devious Italians.
And so it happens.
There's a reason why the knowledgeable football fan thinks 59 times on an average before calling
Arsenal title contenders.

I like Cudicini I do. I knows he's not only a spud but an ex-chav as well but I've always liked
him. I thought he was a great keeper, admired the way he handled things after he was shit on at
Chelsea, and how could you not appreciate his gift to Henry at Highbury?
Being on a somewhat different planet for over a week now I've had a relative abscence of news in my
life and what I have seen has arrived by way of Arsenal-related blogs.

On a horrible wet and windy morning many fans might be glad that they are staying home this
afternoon instead of having to travel to football, so maybe this break has come at the right time
for once? No – ok, just trying to cheer up the grumpy ones who are missing their footie fix.
Look on the bright side, England play Brazil, so that could be a good game to watch,
alternatively there is the France v ROI play off, first leg – difficult choice?

Many have taken the piss out of the atmosphere at the Emirates in the past. They did about Highbury
too. But they can't deny that it wasn't a wall of noise on Saturday against the Spuds!
It was electric and a right smack in the face for those who have a dig about us Gooners being the
silent type.

With the Carling Cup sending us back to Manchester Shitty for a rematch sooner than any of us
imagined, VP has given the boss the perfect excuse to add more experienced first teamers to a
Carling Cup squad, which, we have to admit, would struggle against Shitty's first team if we sent
just kids. He has made it very clear that he wants to play this one, and you just know he wants
revenge for what the ex-25 did.

Remember when the Spuds beat our Carling Cup team 5-1 and every blog we went on all we saw was
this new way of writing Ar5ena1? Well I have just thought of a new way of spelling T0tt3nham
..
I hope it sticks for a while..
All I have heard on the radio since Saturday is Arsenal only beat the Spuds because they had a
load of injuries.

It looks like we have shut the Spuds up for another few months then with a performance that left
even the most hardy Spurs fans noting that they had some way to go to catch up with us.
I had a very good feeling before the game, a feeling I hadn't had since that 5-1 beating we
took. Maybe it was confidence or just a sign of what was to come, whatever it was I liked it and
enjoyed every second of this North London Derby.

As per usual there was the pre match lip coming from the Lane. Robbie Keane AKA pointy shouty
Leprechaun bloke was full of it. Apparently Tottenham have more depth than Arsenal. The truth?
Tottenham have less depth than my local swimming baths. What a silly boy.
Harry Redknapp is just as bad.

Well, what a bloody day. Sometimes, it's worth getting up at 4am.
Travel to and from the match went without a hitch (for me and Garantia and least, EII very
nearly missed kick off due to the implosion of the underground or something).
We took our seats, all separate and Garantia managed to bag herself a move from a 22nd row seat
to a third row one by swapping with some man so he could sit beside his son (she would move again
at halftime as we talked some weird woman beside me to swap an 18th row seat for a third row one so
we could sit beside each other - yes, I actually had to convince her, and when I asked at first she
said 'maybe at halftime - seriously!

Rarely can a football game be so very enjoyable. I think everyone was a bit twitchy before the
game, there is just so much more for us to lose in these games, we are the big club there to be
knocked down and if we win then everyone just says that that's what was expected. The atmosphere
before the game was a bit special, I think all of us wanted to see all the spuds' pre match
boasting rammed

Nerves
There's no doubt, as a fan, you get a huge buzz from games like these.
Though whether I actually enjoy them at the time well that's a moot point. There's just so much
tension, and unless the game is clearly won (and my mathematical equation for when that point is
reached has had to be revised in light of what happened last year), then I tend to be too
uptight.

Well it will have to if the big city of London has had the rainfall we have had here in
Berkshire!!
The Daily Telegraph, well the Belfast version reports Cesc has signed a pre-contract agreement
with Barca! Worried for a second, but then I saw the word ‘Adeybayor' in the same sentence you
know him, the one who feels he has the right to an opinion about us!

So the big game is here at last and oh how lovely it would be to give these spuds a damn good
mashing, we haven't done so for a while and it would make it rather sweet.
You may think I'm wrong in calling the 4-4 game a defeat, but after getting so close to beating
them only to see them haul it back, it felt like a defeat.

So Liverpool were seen off in the week, an entertaining game and overall a deserved victory. Ramsey
has taken a lot of plaudits, as has Fran Merida. Fabianski has apparently picked up a muscular
strain which means that Arsene cannot hide from the Almunia question. Will Manuel start against the
spuds?

Enough Liverpool bashing has been done to keep me sated for a month now. There are only so many
Voronin jokes and beach ball jokes you can make before it gets a bit stale. Fortunately for us
Arsenal fans, fresh meat has arrived in the form of the scum. North London derbies are always a
special occasion (if you're an Arsenal fan all the more so, barring the one obvious time).

I'll stop with the potato themed titles now, it amuses me you know. I'll assume you gathered
that and move on...
Quick one today folks as I have a thousand and one things to do before heading to bed for an early
night and a 4am start to get my 6am flight for my trip to the Emirates for what is our biggest home
match of the season so far.

By Gf60 There are no games in the season that fill me with more terror than the Spuds. It's 90
minutes of having a pulse rate way too high for an old fart, bitten fingernails, and nervous
twitches...and that's when we're a few goals up. Yes it has been 10 years almost to the week since
the scrawny [.

I am still smiling after the wonderful result we 'fought' for the other night. Many 'paps' said
we were lucky as Liverpool should have had a penalty in the last few seconds when Big Phil thought
he was playing netball, and maybe they are right, but I think we should have been awarded one too
when Watt was held back in the penalty area so justice done.

Doesn't a head butt on Ljungberg count for anything? It's bad enough that Silvestre plays for
the Arsenal given the fact that he's a <insert vile swear word insinuating oddities about his
sexuality here> but to give him the captain's armband? That simply is stretching it.
Monsieur Wenger, you know I have been a vociferous fan and that I've never EVER spoken ill of
you.

Finally, some football to talk about after a few days of bitching and moaning about West Ham.
Tonight's match against Liverpool sees Arsene take charge of his 750th Arsenal game, and it would
be just plain rude if we celebrate that with anything other than a win.
Tonight we are likely to see more than just kids, so we won't have that to use as much as an
excuse, but if Liverpool think their kids can match our kids then they are in for a nasty
surprise.

Is it legal to kill work colleagues if you have perfectly justifiable reasons? Nah, I didn't think
so...still...it's nice to dream. Yes folkies, it's been another one of ‘those' days and not even
the thought of heading to the Arsenal v Spuds match is lifting my mood at the minute (but I thought
I'd rub it in a wee bit for those who aren't going – mean I know and I'm not even going to
apologise for it).

If god came to me and asked me to pick one game where we were going to switch off and let in a
late equalizer thereby letting go of 2 points I'd have picked AZ Alkmaar in the Champions League
group stages without blinking an eye. This phenomenon was something that I feel was our undoing
last season (apart from the fact that we were pretty poor otherwise too).

A very interesting day today, perhaps more so than initially meets the eye: much has been made
of Torres and Gerrard both being out when Liverpool face Sunderland at three, it should also be
remembered that their only remaining half decent player Macherano played two hard games in South
America this last week, working like a demon to get Argentina to the World Cup Finals; the result
being that he is unlikely to be on top form; Sunderland should get a draw at the very least.

I wanted to write this the other day when I actually read a piece that Harry 'check out my
eye-bags' Redknapp wrote in his column in the Sun newspaper. My apologies for it being later than a
London bus.
He seems to have a massive opinion on Adebayor-gate and my advice to him is to keep his mouth shut.

I have a suggestion, let's forget the pound man; he isn't worth talking about anymore....
Let's concentrate on our team, our team that has had a manger at its helm for thirteen years.
Not only is he now the longest serving boss we have ever had, but the most successful, so we have
an awful lot to be happy about – don't we?
