Remember when Danny Cepero scored his "manifest destiny" goal from one side of Giants Stadium to
the other? Everyone was like "whoa". With a little help from Brian Ching running interference,
Houston's N°2 keeper Tally Hall pulled the same trick in CONCACAF Champions League play last
night.

I saw an interview on ESPN yesterday where someone was talking about the need for an overhaul in
youth Soccer and then I just read an article (part of a looooong series) about it from the 4-letter
network. I'm not sure where this push for an overhaul is coming from, but being that I actually
played Soccer as a kid let me chime in and see if I can't figure out what is truly needed.

I'm impressed by two things in this clip. First and foremost it has to be said that for all his
faults, ol' Goldenballs is easily the best dressed dude to ever appear on Sportscenter; have you
seen some of the things Michael Irvin has worn on there? Good God!
The other thing I like is that the first question asked was about his back and whether he'll be
able to go against Barcelona.

If you click on the photo (taken by Wizards team photog Gary Rohman) to blow it up, you will see
some mouths open on the fans behind the goal. Great shot. It's grainey b/c we downloaded a small
file size.
That one will certainly be up for Goal of the Week. Claudio Lopez collects a loose ball on the
Wizards side of the half line, takes a lateral touch then rips a 56-yard blast over the
outstretched hand of LA goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts for his 5th strike of the season.

ESPN has released its first video to begin its promotion of the 2010 World Cup which it'll be
broadcasting in the United States.
The video is targeted at the average American mainstream sports fan and explains how global the
game is and destroys some of the typical criticisms about soccer such as the low scoring games, why
the United States isn't a soccer giantpower, and other stereotypes.

It was a dream start for Los Angeles Thursday, when Alecko Eskandarian scored a beautiful goal just
two minutes into the game. Following a flick over his defender, Eskandarian hit a volley from
distance that found the top right corner of Danny Cepero's goal.
You might have expected this highlight reel goal (which found it's way onto SportsCenter's Top 10
plays) to be the best you'd see on the night.

football analysts has been centered around whether or not Real Madrid's transfers will in fact turn
into results on the pitch. The general consensus from various websites is that it will be a
flop.

I saw this clip on Sportscenter and nearly spit out my drink*. It's one thing for The Beckham
Experiment to get all this attention in the soccersphere but it's some whole other sh*t for it to
make it on to ESPN. Maybe John Anderson is right; Oprah's couch --with an assist from Dr. Phil--
just might be the place to get this beef squashed.
