"We don't think he should ever have been away but we are delighted to get him back," Kenny
Dalglish said when asked about the return of Luis Suarez following Monday's match against
Tottenham. The response from the papers was immediate—and exactly what one would have guessed it
would be.
"Kenny Dalglish has risked infuriating Manchester United ahead of Luis Suarez's appearance at
Old Trafford next weekend," began the always understated Daily Mail.
This weekend, the FA Cup reached its final qualifying round and the introduction of the clubs of
the Blue Square Premier adds a little extra spice to the competition as well. Everybody that took
to the pitch in this competition at the weekend went into their match knowing that a live
appearance on ITV and a sizeable pay day could well be on the cards if they could just get over
this hurdle, and this evening we have four matches from this round of the competition.
Freddy Adu's name came up this week on our SI.com podcast as we tossed around opinion on those
recent, flagging U.S. national team performances. Of course, Adu hasn't been part of the
proceedings so far under Jurgen Klinsmann. So why was the young attacker suddenly topical?
Simple. Two goals in five matches says it all.
Every football fan or player in the country should watch this match.
A sold-out crowd at Hindmarsh is simply one of the finest sights in Australian sport. Is it in our
top ten regular season games for any code?
And every young player in the country would surely want to imagine him or herself on such a stage.
Arsenal Tottenham games are always spicy affairs, but today it has a little extra spice attached
because of a certain striker called Emmanuel Adebayor. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has already
expressed his concerns about player abuse now it is the time of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Redknapp and Wenger both expect Adebayor to cop his [.
Story today out of Singapore suggests DPMM will be applying for a return to the SLeague next year.
The Brunei team of course played in the SLeague back in 2009 and did most unSLeague like things
like producing match day programmes and having an atmosphere at home and away games.
They also won the League Cup and were on course to win the SLeague before FIFA kicked them out
because they were smaller than Indonesia.
Great news for the club this afternoon from Ashley Cole stating that he wants to end his career at
Chelsea. First of all he was asked about AVB, then about his future and about the club and
said:
"We have a young manager who is somewhat on the same wavelength with the players. This
is wonderful to the team.
AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic must settle for being a observer on Saturday when the Rossoneri
go up against his former team Inter Milan.
The Swede has to complete a two-match ban and that means the Serie A leaders will be without
their leading scorer for one of the most important games of the campaign.
Picklive Preview: Man United v Arsenal Saturday 5:15, ITV 1
This evening's FA Cup Quarter Final now has extra spice; both on the pitch and on Picklive. Both
sides left licking wounds after recent setbacks, not to mention being the latest chance for RoM
readers to stake their claim for that £100 prize.
After the incident last night during the Sporting KC vs Real Salt Lake scrimmage nobody would have
been surprised if the teams called off today's reserve match up. The two teams did play though, and
Salt Lake came out on top of this game, 1-0 on a goal by Paulo Araujo Jr. KC played their reserves
with two trialists, Omar Colley, and the ever popular Trialist 1.
Could the exit door have the name of Jermaine Jenas written on it by the end of the transfer
window?
While many have expected a mini exodus of Spurs' midfielders this month, JJ wasn't reckoned to
be one of them, but with Aston Villa suddenly finding the money they denied Martin O'Neill, they
have supposedly asked Tottenham to ‘name their price'.
Ahh, there is nothing like the FA Cup for a bit of spice is there?
Anyone expecting Leeds to just show up and enjoy the experience of the Emirates were having a
laugh. I have seen a couple of Leeds' games this season and they are a more than decent unit (their
unbeaten run was only stopped by Cardiff in midweek).
