The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team tied York College, 0-0, in a thriller at Spartan Stadium on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles move to 5-5-3 on the season, and 3-1-2 in league play.

The Spartans held a 15-12 edge in shots, and a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

For the third time in seven years, Madison Memorial and Middleton shared the Big Eight Conference prep boys soccer championship.

Senior Pat Surtees scored on a header in the 78th minute as the Spartans rallied past host Middleton 3-2 in a conference finale Tuesday night to finish tied with the Cardinals atop the standings at 8-1-0.

Reading United fans may have noticed the absence of Brian Ownby in the team's 5-1 victory of the Central Jersey Spartans. Ownby, along with Reading and University of Virginia teammate Will Bates, is currently on a 10-day trial with Swedish team Mjällby.
