Liverpool has been drawn at home to either Southend United or Oldham Athletic in the third round of
the 2011-12 FA Cup.
The draw was made by Gianfranco Zola and ex-Everton midfielder Li Tie at Wembley Stadium on Sunday
afternoon.
Among the highlights was Manchester United being drawn away to Manchester City.
Mac the LifeLizzy Ammon caught up with journalist, Football Manager addict and Southend United fan Iain
Macintosh.LA: Hi Macca, thanks for taking time away from playing Football Manager to talk to us. This
might prove to be one of the most testing interviews you've ever done in your life.
They lost again yesterday, of course, a two-nil reverse at Southend United which left them
anchored to the bottom of the entire Football League and this morning, in an act entirely at odds
with the slow, long, drawn out procedure of the take-over of Plymouth Argyle, Peter Reid paid the
price for his failure as an alchemist with his job.

SOUTHEND UNITED:
Anton Peterlin earned a start for Walsall while Nottingham Forest's Robbie Findley and Southend
United's Jemal each saw time off the bench in England.
Frank Simek and Carlisle United dropped their opener to Notts County while Jemal Johnson and
Southend United picked up three points in a home win over Hereford United
Raheem Sterling has been voted the top Academy player of 2010-11.
Rodolfo Borrell's U18s enjoyed a great season scoring 91 goals and there were some exceptional
performances.
We set up an exclusive online poll asking you to vote for the best Academy player of the season and
Sterling picked up 44 per cent of the vote.
Way, way back, many years ago, not long before the Premier League began, yes kids we did have
football in the 1980s, Gillingham played two home games. First up was Southend United who they beat
8-1. Next came Chesterfield, who James The Gill tells me, hadn't conceded a goal all season. Didn't
matter to a rampant Gills who put 10 past them without reply.
Kenny Dalglish has insisted that the FA Youth Cup result against Manchester United is less
important than the players progressing.
The two rivals met in the quarter-finals of the U18 competition yesterday, and whilst bragging
rights could be a factor, it's not the most important thing for the Liverpool boss.
Sterling pounds Southend Fresh from his appearance in OTP's Ten Premier League stars of the future
list, Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling proved precisely why he had been included with a

Raheem Sterling scored five times as Liverpool U18s stormed into the quarter-finals of the FA Youth
Cup with a 9-0 win over Southend United at Anfield.

the opening period.
Adam Morgan struck a late winner as Liverpool U18s warmed up for the FA Youth Cup with an
impressive 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
The striker showed great composure to drill a low shot into the bottom corner on 82 minutes after
Raheem Sterling's first-half opener had been cancelled out by Alex Henshaw's stunning volley.
You could frame it. If you wanted a short, pithy representation of all that has been wrong with
football finance in 2010, you could do no better than quote a Plymouth Argyle fan
known as "Sensible Surfer" on the BBC Football website over the Christmas period. "Ridsdale set to
take control.
