The MLS Cup final loss may have taken a bit of the strut out of our step, but with the new season approaching just remember: The Sounders still have the best overall record in MLS since 2009 (good for an average of 1.62 points per game over that span of time).

NBC Sports Is All In On MLS

With the first positive impression of MLS on NBC from their promotion of it during Sunday Night Football there can be speculation about how much they are going to run with it. Sure, MLS doesn't have strong ratings (~300k viewers on ESPN2, ~70k on Fox Soccer) to merit strong promotion.

But there's a reason that NBC Sports will promote Major League Soccer in ways that the sport has never been promoted before 2012.

There are some seminal moments that all Manchester United players experience in their time at the club. Their first appearance at the wondrous Theatre of Dreams, their first hot yoga session with the ageless Ryan Giggs and, most memorably, a disintegrated eardrum at the hands of a knight of the realm.

If you've been anywhere near Major League Soccer this season you will have heard of the Seattle Sounders FC, the league's newest club. Not so much for what they've done on the field--this being MLS most clubs do pretty much the same thing--but for the attention they've attracted locally.

The team is a massive hit in the Pacific Northwest, where it has become a pop culture phenomenon.

March may not be the right word to describe how Sounders FC fans journey from Pioneer Square to Qwest Field on game day. March or no march, it's still a pretty darn impressive sight to behold.

After congregating to hear the Sound Wave play a few tunes and belt out the club's fight song, the Seattle diehards progress towards the stadium en masse at a pace even the Forecast could handle.
