Fabio Capello isn't the only former England manager looking for a new gig. Sven-Goran Eriksson,
out of work since he was sacked by Leicester in October, decided to join the many others offering
their services for the Leeds job recently vacated by Simon Grayson. But Leeds chairman and
cantankerous owl Ken Bates, was less than receptive to his offer.
Ahead of another match between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford this weekend,
Alex Ferguson has made his position on the rash of race-related controversies in the game clear.
He's surprised by it all and demands firm action.
As Richard Whittall of The Footy Blog points out, the fact that these cases are getting
scrutinized and dealt with should be a sign that progress is being made, but Ferguson seems to want
more.

There was an interesting article this morning on Soccernet about Robin Van Persie being in the
"injury red zone". Hyperbole aside, it raises the point that Arsenal have had the luxury of
playing Van Persie in every league match so far (starting 12 of 13) but will have to manage his
workload a little more conservatively or risk a decrease in performance or potential injury.

Earlier this week I received my review copy of Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of
ESPN, so the first thing I did was jump to the index to find any sections that deal with soccer.
Based on the directions that the index sent me in, and I should note the index seems a bit poor,
the book only focuses on soccer in the context of the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, which
isn't a bad thing, but it seems to leave out the World Wide Leader's dabbling with the Beautiful
Game during the bulk of its 31 years.
So..it looks like we've made no further progress in regards to our bid for Phil Jones.
Soccernet is reporting that while we've agreed to personal terms with the player AND met the
buyout clause in his contract, the most important thing hasn't been resolved. And that would be the
actual transfer fee to convince Blackburn to sell him to us.
By Dr. Raf Crowley As I was mulling over different topics to write about this week, I discovered a
link on the 4-letter's Soccernet website that said in the midst of the NFL lockout, Chad Ochocinco
is going to try out for Sporting Kansas City. In the vein of MLS-style preview pieces that we've
been [.

Having already spent a fortune in the winter transfer window even with reports of financial loss
issues, reports from England suggested that Chelsea's owner, Roman Abramovic, want to continue his
big spending in the summer as the Blues are still keen on signing Brazilian young talent,
Neymar.
Technology is so advanced that not like a number of a long time in the past one does not have to
wait for "the news" to get an update on any sporting event. Other than stay protection on tv there
are internet sites devoted completely to the event. Spotmau Powersuite protects users from data
loss in the event of a crash.
Three names that we were "linked" with have all fallen through. And probably for the best.
Roque Santa Cruz:
In total, Santa Cruz started eight games, with another 16 substitute appearances. The Paraguay
international has earned around £6m in wages. (via guardian)
City have hardened their stance on the issue of wages for loan players since agreeing to
subsidise Craig Bellamy's move to Cardiff earlier this season and Blackburn will pay the majority
of Santa Cruz's salary.
