The Aztexan 06 October @ 08:55 PM EST
I mentioned this last week, but don't forget: there's one last chance to see the Aztex play in
Austin this year. On Wednesday, Oct. 7, they will host Monterrey's Rayados, of Mexico's Primera
División.
Monterrey is doing well in the current Apertura season. They are 2nd overall, with 23 points from
11 games (7-2-2).

Over at Women's Soccer USA, Jen Striker reports that Peter Wilt is out at Chicago Red Stars. It was
pretty obvious from his ESPN Soccernet interview that he was looking to go somewhere else, but I
was a bit surprised at how Striker characterized the departure:
According to Chicago sources, Marcia McDermott has completed her boardroom takeover of
the Red Stars by forcing out Peter Wilt and assuming his position in the organization.

EAT SOCCER! 21 July @ 09:45 PM EST
Upon my return from a playing stint in Brazil last year, I came across a television program which
detailed the journeys of several teams participating in the Homeless World Cup. It was an amazing
testimony to the power of soccer and how these soccer programs are changing countless lives for
many whom society counts out.

Spain were predicted to beat the USA comfortably, but if you took a look at the
whole match, anything but occurred
Usually in soccer, USA have nothing to show, but if the Americans showed one thing tonight,
however cliché it may be; it's that having a coach who knows his tactics and who knows how his
players fit the tactics can prove to be very effective, effective enough to beat the European
champions.

What was most evident to me watching the US Mexico game was how physically strong the US side
is.The physical height difference and the emotion of playing at home left me with the impression
that the US were playing on stools.Sacha Kljestan,Brian Ching,Carlos Bocanegra,Oguchi Onyewu and
Jozy Altidore who came on later as a Second half substitution were so much taller.

Watching the Carolina Railhawks playing the Minnesota Thunder Friday night (beating them 2-1), I
was struck by a kind of déjà vu when I saw Minnesota's home jerseys. Notice any
similarities?
That grainy picture on the left is a screenshot of the USLlive video feed, because oddly enough, I
couldn't find photos anywhere on the web of that Thunder jersey.

Was anyone wondering what Tim Lovejoy was up to since David Beckham's Soccer USA ended? Well, he's
still involved with Becks' management company. They're partnering on a new venture.

Brazil has produced some of the most potent footballers on the planet. Names like Ronaldinho and
Ronaldo (not the Manchester United maestro) spring to mind. But, Brazil has also produced some of
the sexiest goalkeeping you'll ever see...goalkeeping, and some may argue goalkeepers as well, or
not. Dida and Rogerio Ceni with his goal scoring prowess are two that spring to mind instantly.

As the Riverfront Times article states, a national homeless soccer league is "a little out there."
Yet, Liberia-born David Flomo and soccer-mad Community Director Keith Deisner couldn't wait to get involved and form a team in St. Louis a few months ago. Recruiting their players from the local homeless shelter and holding training sessions in an empty parking lot, the six-man St.
