The 2009 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament kicked off earlier today and while games are going on right now I felt it was worth previewing a little bit to give you all a heads up about who and what is out there to see. Some players have been mentioned on here for the 2010 SuperDraft watch and we may end up seeing others emerge as big names for the draft in January.

Well, that was fun. Ohio State won the Big Ten men's soccer tournament title with a last-minute, 1-0 win over Penn State in Sunday's final. The Buckeyes get an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament, while Penn State, Indiana, Northwestern and potentially Michigan State can also stake claims to spots in the field of 48 (which will be announced at 5:30pm today on ESPNEWS).

There's all kinds of MLS and soccer lovin' going around this morning in our fine land. Devin Barclay, now a rock star on Ohio State's campus, played parts of five seasons in MLS from 2001-2005. The University of Denver men's soccer team (5-10-4) was unable to rebound from an early first-half goal by New Mexico's Justin Davis, falling 1-0 in the semifinals of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's men's soccer tournament on Friday evening at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. The win advances the Lobos (12-6-0) to the MPSF championship game at 1 p.

DU is hosting the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's soccer tournament at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium today through Sunday.

This marks the first year that the MPSF has played a men's soccer tournament since 2003. The Pioneers earned the right to host the tournament after winning their first MPSF regular-season championship last year, which earned DU its first trip to the NCAA tournament since 1970.
