One can make a number of observations about the development of Major League Soccer by examining the stadia its teams have played in. Over the next two weeks, I'm going to rank 20 of the thirty(?) MLS stadia over the last 14 years and share my impressions and a few anecdotes.  Through the rankings, which in general tend to be in chronological order, one can see not only the evolution of MLS stadia, but evolution of the League itself.

The traditional after match soccer handshake will be banned in minor league soccer games throughout Canada for fear of spreading the H1N1 virus. The move was decided by league members who have said that everyone needs to do more to stop the spread of the swine flu virus. The flu is spread from infected people to others through handshakes, fluids or air.

Yesterday I attended two soccer games. The first one cost me a total of $11 (two Gatorades and $4 match fees), the latter about $90. The first was very much a community event, the latter was distant and relatively alienating. The TV ratings are in for ESPN2's opening game of the 2009/2010 Premier League season, which featured Chelsea against Hull City. And the results are pretty decent especially considering that EPL Talk didn't break the news until 7:46pm ET on the night before the game. Plus, the fact that the game kicked off at 7:45 ET on a Saturday morning.

Hawkins was a long time coach at Three Rivers Soccer Association with MYSA and was also a Rockford High School boys coach.

Yesterday we didn't have any WPS games to cover... and the sun was shining bright... so in lieu of spending every waking hour in front of my computer, my friends and I hopped about the Kronos for some serious yachting action. (Stay tuned for more pics.) We're talking about a 2-bedroom/2-bathroom 50-foot yacht complete with a salt water filtration system, satellite TV, full kitchen, a Jet Ski that Ethan swears is the fastest water craft he's ever driven, exotic beverages, cheese & fruit plate, homemade pasta salad (yum Paigey), sunshine, bikinis, dice games, and more.
