The Liverpool player N'gog is a cheat and an actor worthy of nomination for this year's Oscar for Best Simulation on A Soccer Field. His dive extraordinaire, earning his team a converted penalty in Liverpool's Monday night Premier League match up against Birmingham City, will stick in the memory of opposing fans like superglue on a toilet seat.

Now Girls Play Nice

Soccer Tickets Online 07 November @ 07:00 AM EST

They say that girls can be a lot crueler then boys and it's no lie if you saw the highlights on ESPN of the college women's soccer match between New Mexico and BYU yesterday. Defender Elizabeth Lambert of New Mexico seemed to be playing the wrong sport as she tackled, punched, kicked, slapped, elbowed, and hair pulled opposing players throughout the match.

Pistolas F.C. 06 November @ 01:49 PM EST
MARKHAM - He is creative not only on the pitch, but in his costumes as well.
That's right fans, Pistolas FC Captain Charles Eppich, pulled off another fantastic costume this year, replicating the short and stubby former Argentina great Diego Maradonna.
He went all out too, finding a pair of old cleats that he drilled two holes large enough to slip them on up to his knees, to capture the stature of Argentina's latest coach. Click to continue reading...

Gabby Lachney – Story of Sportmanship

Jared Montz’s Weblog 05 November @ 09:46 AM EST

Of course I want my players to do well in soccer and go as far in the game as they want. But most importantly I want my players to succeed in life first and soccer second. I think many lessons taught on the soccer field can be directly translated into real life. One such important lesson is sportsmanship!

Tactics of Chess Similar to Soccer

MIKE JACOBS 07 October @ 07:50 AM EST
From the Evansville Courier Press, October 4, 2009
EVANSVILLE — My father bought my son a chess board last Christmas, and as we walked the boy through the ideas and concepts of playing chess, things seemed very familiar.
The familiarity was not only with the tactics on a battlefield but on a soccer field as well. Click to continue reading...

Inappropriate LINKS

The Beautiful Game (2) 02 October @ 08:48 PM EST
Apparently some pranksters with a line-marking machine vandalized a soccer field. Here's a quote in reaction.
"To be shafted like this is a bitter pill to swallow, it's a balls up which may leave our next fixture in doubt."
Too funny.
Now the links:

If there's no soccer field or large grassy area near your residence, then traditional soccer (football) cleats are not of much use, are they? Consider the Puma Liga XL IT soccer shoe as an alternative. These shoes are designed for indoor surfaces, and the rubber sole is non-marking.

LLTO Wednesday WAG: Nereida Gallardo (09/30)

La Liga Report 30 September @ 07:00 AM EST

The Beauty: Just for the record, I don't really find Nerieda Gallardo to be a "beauty". In fact, I think she looks like one of those terrible male trannies Ronaldo picked up in Brazil. But, she is arguably one of the most well-known Spanish WAGs in the world, so I had to put her on this list.

Sol Campbell is The Man

Fighting Talker 23 September @ 08:16 PM EST
It's always been my dream to have one of those super high-paying jobs. You know, not one where they measure your salary with 6 figures for the year, but one like modern day footballers have, where they eek out a modest go at life on 5 figures per week.
I mean, I'm out of shape, washed up, saddling up to middle-age and have the athletic ability of Andrew the Giant (in his current state), but sign me up for about $65,000 a week and you will see me run for 90 minutes on a soccer field like you could never imagine. Click to continue reading...

Paul Gardner's important "Shameful Story from South Africa"

Fighting Talker 01 September @ 01:17 PM EST
Around here we all make fun of Soccer America's Paul Gardner a fair bit. We all say he's old, or that he's "lost his fastball" or that he's been making the same point for the last 20 years. But the fact is, when he's on, he's on. Today he wrote about Eudy Simelane, a member of the South African women's soccer team and how her life came to a tragic and violent end. Charting Progress

USSoccerPlayers 16 August @ 10:00 AM EST
Any soccer coach wants their players to improve, but sometimes it is hard to quantify that progress. That's why it can be a good idea to use statistics to illustrate the progress of your players. We are not talking about goals and assists either. Any time you measure a physical ability on the soccer field, you are using statistics. Click to continue reading...

These short paragraphs suffice:

Zizou Visits Denver, Plays With Young American All*Stars...

Preparing for Match Two

Official Take 05 July @ 08:58 PM EST
Today, we woke up in Columbus, Ohio to get ready for our upcoming match. After breakfast we got a bus and went to a soccer field where we did a medium intensity training for 90 minutes, doing a good warm up and interval runs like we would do in a game—some jogging, some full sprints, running backwards and changing back and forth along with some slower walking for recovery.
