Phil Schoen was nice enough to give the Brotherly Game some of his time about a week and a half
ago. The GolTV play-by-play announcer discussed plenty of topics with the Brotherly Game, some of
which included the Philadelphia Union.

Sometimes it seems Galaxy midfielder David Beckham spends more time on a soccer field showing off
his abs than his set pieces as he wanders the field shirtless at the end of games. So this soft

The Chicago Fire might be adding a new graphic to the front of their jerseys this season.
According to reports out of Chicago, the club is closing in on a jersey sponsor deal with Quaker
Oats, something that would end the club's sponsor hiatus after one season. Best Buy had been the
team's jersey sponsor from 2008-2010 before ending its commitment prior to last season.
Apparently at CES this week:
Panasonic created the world's most depressing soccer field in their booth. The two
girls that stood on opposite ends of the "field" are charged with kicking a soccer ball back and
forth. The ball isn't even filled with air. From the sound of the kicks, it seemed like it was
filled with sand or sawdust.

It's not hard to recognize the talent of UCSB midfielder Luis Silva.
A dynamic playmaker with a penchant for scoring goals from anywhere on the field, Silva is
considered to be a top-10 pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft.

It has happened bro, I'm in trouble again. I can't help it. I feel like a fucking drug

A few days ago, I was about to go outside to rake when I saw a huge cloud of leaves blowing into

I am in Barcelona for a few days, checking out Antoni Gaudi's architectural curves, hopping up

Junior goalkeeper Lara Campbell on Oct. 7, 2011 during the South Alabama match @ CIBER Field
The University of Denver's women's soccer team has had an amazing season, and finished with 16
wins and only five losses.
Junior goalkeeper Lara Campbell made an astounding 43 saves this season even after suffering a,
high ankle sprain injury early on in the season.
By Jason Davis - WASHINGTON, DC (Nov 17, 2011) US Soccer Players -- There is little originality
when it comes to breeding success on the soccer field. That's a truth that applies even in a young
league like Major League Soccer. Enough has already happened, even midway through the second decade
of the League's existence, to have created a set of blueprints for others to follow.
Hamilton during the Oct. 7, 2011 match versus South Alabama @ CIBER Field.
This year's University of Denver's women's soccer team has been winning games left and right,
after 21 games, they have come out victorious in 16 of them. Sophomore forward Kristen Hamilton
made a large contribution to those statistics.
I have found over the past couple of years that the top coaches and managers of young men are not
only able to prepare them to play in a match that week, but to also have the foresight to be able
to prepare them for their future beyond soccer.
Being able to relate the lessons learned in training or in games to a bigger picture is essential
for a coach to be successful, because the reality is that where they may be a soccer player for 90
minutes, they are a young man, student-athlete, and aspiring husband or father for the other 22 1/2
hours of the day.

Boston College, Boston University, and Harvard University are among the 64 schools that earned
bids for the 2011 NCAA Division 1 Women's Soccer Championship after the tournament brackets were

Up at the Heights, Boston College went 11-5-2, and finished fourth in the perennially
competitive Atlantic Coast Conference.
Two years ago this time, the Philadelphia Union had never stepped on a soccer field before.
Today, they are in the MLS Cup Playoffs against an opponent they have never lost to in four games.
Of course, the teams are different now so past results at this stage mean very little, but Union
fans have every right to be excited right now.

Late last month I had the privilege of traveling to New York City for the unveiling of not 1 but 2
new products from Nike Soccer.
It's been a long time since I've posted, but I've got something pretty cool for any fans of the
FIFA videogame series. I was able to get a tour of EA Sports in Vancouver, Canada where the FIFA
series was developed. Not only that, but I got to talk to the lead gameplay producer of FIFA 12,
Aaron McHardy, about the new player-impact engine, precision dribbling, and tactical defending.
We've heard about the possibility of a Major League Soccer team in Detroit for some time now.
We've even heard that the folks who bought the Silverdome have already applied for an expansion
team. Now today we're finally seeing what their wild renovation plans may actually look like.
So, uh, yeah.

For nearly 150 years, eleven men have been stepping onto a soccer field prepared to attack and
defend against their opponent as a unit.
It happens every day all across the world. How often do we think of the significance of the

Carlos Tevez is finished at Manchester City, says Roberto Mancini | Football | The Guardian.
In one of the most bizarre moments on any soccer field that I can remember, Manchester
City striker Carlos Tevez urinated all over himself again by refusing, yes refusing, to come on as
a substitute in the second half of City's Champions League Group game against Bayern Munich at the
Allianz Arena today.
Kaylee Smith scored her first goal of the 2011 season on Wednesday night as the Grizzlies won
their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game of the season 1-0 over the New Mexico Highlands

Smith's goal, which came in the 61st minute, came on one of her six shots she had during the

Tribe Men's Soccer Opens CAA Play with 1-0 Win at UNCWThe William and Mary Tribe men's soccer team opened up CAA conference play on Saturday night,
winning on the road at UNC Wilmington, 1-0.
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team answered the No. 13-ranked
Colorado School of Mines Orediggers twice Sunday, but ran out of time in its search for a third
reply in a 3-2 defeat at CSM Soccer Field.
The Orediggers took leads at 1-0 and 2-1, but the Mountain Lions tied the match shortly
afterward each time.
Charlie Davies has never done a thing to me. I promise. I have absolutely nothing against the
man, although I have said several times that he needs to grow up a bit and make more "adult"
choices about some things. And, of course, I hope he's learned his lessons about diving. Naughty,
naughty.
Adams State College men's soccer has marked a lot of firsts in the team's brief history. On
Friday night, the Grizzlies grabbed several firsts as the team recorded its most goals, largest
margin of victory, first shutout and first visit to a .500 record.
Hawken Hanna scored the first goal and what would prove to be the game winner in the 6th minute
as the Grizzlies dominated the UT-Permian Basin Falcons, 4-0, at ASC Soccer Field.
Soccer America reports on the early season large crowds in college soccer.
Clemson drew its largest regular-season crowd ever when 7,423 turned out Friday night at Historic
Riggs Field to watch the Tigers beat South Carolina. The win snapped a four-game losing streak in
their Palmetto State derby, one of the nation's top non-conference clashes held each year.
Jurgen Klinsmann is often described as an "ideas man," someone who is eager to instill his own
unique vision on the soccer field.
The Orange County, Calif., resident sat down with local media members on Monday and further
outlined his visions for the US national team.
Whether it was discussing the development an "open-minded and risk-taking" identity or simply
opening select training sessions to the public—as the team will do on Wednesday—Klinsmann
touched on a number of his chief goals for his tenure.
A few weeks ago we traveled back to the land of beer and cheese, Wisconsin, for a family reunion.
Wisconsin is the place where the idea for the Free Beer Movement was birthed (induced... with beer,
of course) and the where we cut our teeth playing soccer from the youth level on up to college
