Mexico entered the semi-finals of the Olympic qualifiers beating Panama last evening at the Home
Depot Center, Carson. The Panamanians stretched out El Tri till stoppage time when Erick Torres
struck a last minute winner.
Mexico now meet Canada while El Salvador who inflicted a last second heartbreak of their own on
the USA, meet Honduras in a Central American semi-final clash.
Almost five years after the Soca Warriors secured qualification to the 2006 World Cup, 13 of
their players are still owed money by Jack Warner, the powerful president of the T&T football
federation.
He is a kingmaker when it comes to keeping Sepp Blatter in power or awarding the World Cup.
At least one group in CONCACAF Olympic qualifying played out as expected.
Honduras captured second place in Group B with a 2-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago at the
Home Depot Center Tuesday night behind goals from Eddie Hernandez and Anthony Lozano.
The Philadelphia Union have been busy in the last year as they attempt to bring in talent from
around the world, with Colombia and Trinidad and Tobago as two key locations of interest for the
team. According to a player agent, the Union have continued to look at Trinidad and Tobago for new
players, despite the recent release of former backup and third string goalkeeper Thorne Holder, and
the still unknown situation of Keon Daniel's work visa.
The final round of matches in the second round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying might as well
not be played, as all the teams to advance are now known.
The six teams to secure their passage into the third round of qualifying were finalized on
Friday, with Canada being one of the teams to secure its passage.
Keon Daniel's tale of unfortunate events continued last night, as the Philadelphia Union player
was substituted off in the 46th minute of Trinidad and Tobago's 4-0 win over Barbados.
The 25-year-old Daniel was unable to regain the form that he had found with the Union and
carried over to the Trinidadian national team, before failing to impress in his start in Trinidad's
2-1 loss to Bermuda on October 7.
*As regular readers of this blog learned here exclusively on Tuesday, Riverside Poly High
product Sammy Ochoa has signed with MLS and Chivas USA is in pole position to sign him.
*Galaxy midfielder Chris Birchall has been called up to the Trinidad & Tobago National Team for
its upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Barbados and Bermuda.
All around the globe, soccer clubs are nearing the end of their pre-season and looking towards the
2011-2012 campaign. Trinidad's 1st division club, T&T Highlanders FC is no different. We profiled
them earlier this year in an installment of the Eat Soccer News Page. This is the first year for
the T&T Highlanders, and we caught up with their owner, James Baird to find out more about their 3
ingredients for success this season.
Saturday's final between Manchester United and FC Barcelona has a number of storylines. For
those in the CONCACAF region one storyline that sticks out is the inclusion and impact that Mexican
sensation Chicharito can make on Saturday's championship.
While the Mexican's ascent into stardom will receive a boost from winning the finale Saturday
he's not the first player from the CONCACAF region to play in the final.
The title of ‘most repugnant man in world football' isn't hotly contested. Anyone remotely
aware of FIFA Vice-President Jack Warner knows that he'd have got to keep any trophy years ago, and
that he'd keep it anyway, even if he was supposed to give it back. To sum up his football
administration career, he's a ticket tout and swindler an arrogant, ignorant, thuggish, loutish,
borderline racist, dictatorial, political failure.
FIFA World Cup 2010-bound Mexico and a young Trinidad and Tobago side battled to a very
entertaining 2-2 draw last night at Port of Spain's Hasely Crawford stadium. While attendance to
the game was quite poor because of the Soca Warriors already being knocked out of the qualification
process, several Mexican and Trinidadian soccer babes [.
Mexico soccer fans are currently getting ready for tomorrow's FIFA 2010 World Cup Qualifying clash
between the hosts Trinidad and Tobago and FIFA World Cup 2010 bound Mexico at the Hasley Crawford
Stadium in Port of Spain. However, the game will take place at 5:05 PM Pacific Time and will only
be shown in the United [.
The U-20 World Cup in Egypt officially kicked off on Thursday with the hosts convincingly
defeating Trinidad and Tobago.
A first half 1-1 draw turned into a route as Egypt midfielder Hassan Hussam Arafat Abdalla's
brace led the way to a 4-1 victory over the Soca Warriors in front of the 80,000-plus in
attendance.
It's always encouraging when you field a bad team and win on the road. It took some luck —
Cornell Glenn hitting the crossbar, Ricardo Clark turning into Steven Gerrard for a split second
— but the United States beating Trinidad and Tobago 1-0, is a result the Americans probably had
to get.
But let me reiterate, this team Bob Bradley selected was bad.
Paul Caliguri had the shot heard round the world on this pitch, but tonight, Rico Clark had the
shot that saved the US. With their backs against the wall the US responded after a poor first
half.
In the second half tonight, the United States Men's National Team showed the heart of a champion
and the roar of a lion.
You know you want to see the final scores before the matches are even started, so here they are.
All results brought to you by Crystal Ball Corporation "When you need to know what your bookie does

All predictions are of course subject to the minor caveat that this is futbol, football and
soccer where anything can and will happen except what you think will happen.
Mexico became the first team to reach the semifinals after handing Honduras a 3-0 defeat tonight at
The Home Depot Center. Alan Pulido posted a hat trick for El Tri, who top Group B with six
points. Honduras is second with three points, while Panama and Trinidad & Tobago have one each
after a 93rd minute goal by the Soca Warriors canceled out a goal by Panama substitute
Cecilio Waterman in the 69th minute.
Trinidad & Tobago lost 1-0 to Grenada today, knocking them out of the Caribbean Championship, next
year's Gold Cup, and perhaps marking the end of Russell Latapy's tenure with the national team. T&T
lost their first match of the final group stage 2-0 to Cuba, and Latapy made wholesale changes to
the squad.
The Digicel Caribbean Cup -- which actually started six weeks ago -- is nearing the final stage as
two of the second stage groups reach their conclusion. In Group E, Guadeloupe and Grenada advanced
comfortably against Puerto Rico and St. Kitts and Nevis (both qualified for the final stage with a
match to spare).
Heading into last night's matches, two of the six second round group winners were known. The two
teams that needed only a point were playing on the road; while the pair that required a win to
advance were playing at home. In the end, all of the group leaders won the points that they needed
to settle the second round of World Cup qualifying with a match to spare.
Ten years ago today on Oct. 7, 2001, the U.S. Men's National Team faced Jamaica on MatchDay 9 of
final round qualifying for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Having lost three straight matches, the USA's
place in Korea/Japan was by no means certain. In order to qualify that day and avoid a nail-biting
finish, the U.
Hey there Soccer Fans. I'm the new kid on the block and since my first day on the job is just
two days after USSoccer defeated T&T I've got some thoughts.
My original thinking was that the US squad had too much power for the Soca Warriors. Well, I
was wrong. The "power" for the Americans came from Ricardo Clark.
Not even the Guardian of Forever can bring me back far enough in the past for this it seems. Man,
do the last two weeks feel like an eternity or what? It seems like forever since Dynamo last played
a game, instead of the two weeks since the loss to Colorado.
Hopefully, plenty has changed over that time, and if you need a positive sign, there's this from
the Boz' Facebook page on Sept.
There have been many great duos throughout history. Antony & Cleopatra. Lewis & Martin.
Bonnie & Clyde. Tango & Cash. And, finally, we can add Trinidad & Tobago. Like the other great
duos, T&T (for those of you who are into that whole brevity thing) wasn't always a tandem. No,
they were actually hornery (note the spelling) neighbors for a little while.
I'm going to say it right now. That was the worst match I have seen these bunch of players
perform on the road against an opponent that should've been done and dusted at the blow of the
whistle to start the first half. How was it possible for this group that looked so strong at Rio
Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah all of a sudden looked so timid & so nervous for no reason that they
gave so many chances to the Soca Warriors.
Them Yankee boys aren't sleeping on the Soca Warriors and you shouldn't either. We'll find out in a
little over an hour's time but I'm not thinking this is going to be as easy of a walk as it was
when these two met in Nashvegas a 'lil while back. Buckle up boys and girls, it's carnival time.
After an auspicious beginning to the 2010 season, the San Jose Earthquakes are reaching into their
past in hopes of improving their future. According to a report in the San Jose Mercury News, the
Quakes have signed Trinidad & Tobago international striker Scott Sealy to a deal. He is expected to
be available for San Jose's next match, an April 10th away fixture against the Chicago Fire.
While Gary Cahill joins England for their World Cup qualifier against Ukraine we look at
which other Bolton Wanderers team members are on international duty.
Jlloyd Samuel was meant to be playing for Trinidad and Tobago but once again he has had to miss
out. There is a farce that surrounds Samuel's non–involvement with the Soca Warriors.
Match Fit USA will be your go-to place for National Team coverage, as the Yanks face off against
the Soca Warriors with another three points on their minds. I'll have posts throughout the day on
the...
