The haters of Miami as a soccer town were out in full force last week as it was announced that fewer than 6800 tickets had been sold for the USA vs Honduras game to be played at Sun Life Stadium. The game hadn't even been played yet and already they were bashing.
In the end over 21,000 showed up on a wet night to watch the United states defeat Honduras 1-0 thanks to a wonderful goal by Clint Dempsey.

Back in 2009 my seatmates and I decided that the four of us would have five seats. We did this to take girlfriends/wives, but also with the knowledge that we could expose some friends to the game who had not appreciated it live and local. While none grew into season ticket holders, several now watch the matches on TV come to a few games a year and generally enjoy the sport.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the final of the UEFA Champions League will be on FOX this year. Last year the overnight ratings for the Champions League final were awful, even by MLS Cup standards, so I was expecting the executives at FOX Sports to decide that their experiment had failed.

Two young Aussies knocked on my door at 3.20am this morning. Two young footballers without Fox.
And myself and their Dad cheered long and loud when Harry Kewell scored after five minutes.
It was tense as the Uzbeks had 70% of possession but the space in attack for Australia was surprising but for this supporter who's seen Bahrain, Iraq, Korea and of course Germany and others limit our opportunities over the last six months.
