Sad news out of Germany yesterday, as it appears star goalkeeper Robert Enke took his own life.
The 32 year old was apparently struck by a train. He is survived by his wife and their adopted
daughter.
The impact of this one will be felt a while over there.

Pompey make move for former Wigan striker.
Portsmouth have made a bid to sign Egyptian star Amr Zaki, skysports.com
understands.
The 26-year-old striker is currently back in his homeland with Zamalek, having spent last season
on loan at Wigan.

reported for pre season training yesterday and we had our first practices today.

STARTERSTwo of the USA's brightest young prospects are headed for Germany. Justin Rodriquez of ESPN
Soccernet reports that both Charles Renken and Joseph Gyau of the USA U17 Residency Program have
signed with Hoffenheim. The German club also has a connection to the Vancouver Whitecaps (this is
breaking news to me as well) and the players will see some of their time spent in BC at the
residency program there as well as with the senior team in Germany.
