Liverpool fans are rejoicing in the return to form of Xabi Alonso.  The player who has scored the winning goal against Chelsea kept has made the position in the middle of the park his own,a natural pick alongside Argentina captain Javier Mascherano.  These two players, along with Steven Gerrard playing in the hole in front of them, form the best trio of central players in world football. Liverpool still on track for the league

Debuts for Sulky-smooth and Riera went better for the Spaniard
Liverpool beat the old Red Menace 2-1 in the early Saturday fixture- a great way to kick off the weekend.   Berbatov cut back a nice pass that found Tevez totally unmarked and making no mistake; his countryman and friend Javier Mascherano didn't seem to realize the kickoff had happened two minutes prior. Underperforming Liverpool were lucky to escape the second city with a point on Sunday.  Gerrard is out recovering from surgery, likely back in a week or more.  Torres pulled up with a hamstring injury in the first third of the match.  Rafa crowded the midfield, neutralized the service to Carew and Agbonlahor, allowing the Reds to escape with a point.
