Geylang upset Bangkok Glass to ensure the Cup remains in Singapore.
So what if Bangkok Glass were the dominating side in terms of attacking and having most of the
possession throughout the game?
So what if Geylang were the side being under siege and not getting enough balls behind the Thais'
defence?

Epandi's brace makes him the unlikely leading scorer in the ISL with six on the board while
Persebaya's new signing from Albirex Niigata, Takatoshi Uchida, must be wondering what hit him on
his Indonesian debut.

Without doubt the highlight this weekend is the climax of the season in Malaysia with Kelantan
taking on Negeri Sembilan in the Malaysia Cup final at Bukit Jalil. Earlier in the season some
40,000 fans from the north east descended on the nation's capital to see their heroes take on
Selangor in the FA Cup Final only to go home broken hearted.

TTM warming-up before the game
To be honest, it was already a damper prior to this returning fixture of this Singapore Cup
semi-final between these two invited teams - Bangkok Glass and TTM Samut Sakorn.
With a huge task ahead, it wasn't a surprise to write off the Smokers (TTM's nickname), as not many
teams can do what the Portuguese did in 1966 World Cup against the North Korean, before the match
started.

The ban resulted that Brunei DPMM's participation in the S.League is null and void, despite written
approval was sought at the start of the year from the world governing body on the team's
participation.
Part of DPMM's supporters at the League Cup Final
At that point of time, DPMM, a BAFA associate who used to play in Malaysian League, found
themselves in a wilderness after the Malaysians decided to pull the plug after BAFA was
de-registered by Brunei's Registrar of Societies, which is not inclined with FIFA's stand of
"non-interference from government" policy, so it was subsequently not recognized as the game
governing body in the oil-rich sultanate.

Things have been quiet of late what with Ramadhan and the Eid festival but that's all coming to an
end and how.
We'll start off with the SLeague in Singapore. Despite all the doom and gloom merchants who come
crawling out of (Sentosa artificial) rocks every time some bad news is percieved to hit the game
there things ain't so bad in Lion City.

It is being reported from Malang that Arema have signed three Singapore internationals. Noh Alam
Shah, Baihakki Khaizan and Mustafic Fahrudin apparently signed yesterday.
Or have they? Another club is interested in two of the players and last night as I was dining with
one of their officials he received an sms saying that one of the trio denied signing.

Albirex Niigata defeated Tampines Rovers 1-0 earlier on this evening in the Singapore Cup to level

Bangkok Glass' style of play is similar to what we saw by their fellow Thai side - TTM Samut Sakorn
on last Friday.
Glass Rabbit fans... Wondering we would get to see the famed Glass Rabbit cheerleaders anytime
soon?
Patient is the key in orchestrating any attacking play, a logic never seems to adapt by many of the
local clubs who would prefer that "kamikaze" style of football (kick and rush before allowing your
opponents to hit you hard when at vulnerability).

It's been a torrid season thus far for Singapore. The national team has struggled, even Liverpool
beat them, the Young Lions preperations for the SEA Games are floundering without a recognised goal
scorer and DPMM (from Brunei) won the League Cup.
Last night in the Singapore Cup Thai side TTM Samut Sakhorn defeated DPMM 3-1 in front of 1,506

Cup games are always something different as it's a no-hold barred contest between the two team that
whoever lose - OUT YOU GO!! simple as that.
The match between Geylang United and Brunei DPMM was my first League Cup match having just returned
from my Down Under trip.
This was deemed "NO-GOAL"
Was late for the game as it was last minute decision to be at the ground for this match, so I
missed the first goal of the night.

Woodlands Wellington won the first edition of this trophy in 2007 while last year Gombak United
collected it.
This season sees some changes with the competition beginning with a group format, replacing the
knock out manner of earlier years.

For a few years now the SLeague has been struggling for headlines and publicity in Singapore. When
the back pages have been made you can be sure the game has hardly been covered in glory.
Take the match fixing debacle of Liaonang Guoyang a couple of years back. Or Dalian Shide's poor
performances last season.

That was what I was told by the stadium "jaga", as he pointed to me the poster at the notice board
that said no video and filming are allowed at the stadium premises.
"If you want , you have to speak to my officer at second floor" said the "jaga".
The point was that never in my blogging experience I was told that photo-taking was not allowed in
any of the SSC stadium (unless it is really the case).

SAFFC were knocked out of the Singapore Cup by Geylang United.
