Southend United 2-4 Leyton Orient (JPT SS R1)

Southend United crashed out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy with a humiliating home defeat to one of their biggest rivals.

Orient capitalised on gaps all over the park, especially in the second half, and Blues were made to pay for their lack of man-marking on several occasions.

Walsall 5-2 Southend United

Southend United slipped to a heavy defeat at the Banks's Stadium after too many defensive errors were punished by an efficient home side who thoroughly deserved the victory.

A terrible second half period saw the Blues collapse after going into the break level at 1-1.

BREAKING NEWS - Clarke, Francis & Bailey put on transfer list

Within the last hour, Southend United have made the shock decision to transfer list Peter Clarke, Simon Francis and player of the year Nicky Bailey.

It means Southend have now either transfer listed or not renewed the contract of 12 players.

Swindon Town 0-1 Southend United

Southend gained another vital three points on their travels and extended their unbeaten run to 8 games. Simon Francis' 18th minute deflected goal was enough to beat their mid-table opponents at the County Ground.

The Blues remain 5th in the table, just a point behind Nottingham Forest, but - most importantly - Southend now have a three point buffer between themselves and 7th place, thanks to results going in their favour. Click to continue reading...
